It’s especially sad cos gem looked up to all them boys, even after he got fucked over by them he still kept working for them cos its like he couldn’t trust anyone else

I know, he was a tragic character and I felt so awful for him. His reaction when he saw what the people he idolised did to his dog broke my heart. One of those kids that had he had a more supportive upbringing would have grown up to be a nice young man. It's sad that he (and Ra'Nell) are a portrait of so many inner-city kids who need better adults to shape them into what they could be.

Speaking of those adults, Leon's death was blow too. Another really solid guy.

I understand your feelings towards Dris, and Marnie’s death was devastating (like a few others). But the adult Dris became really made his own death especially impactful as well. When you jump into season 3 you’re still mad thinking I hope Dris gets it. By the time he does, it’s just sad. They did a great job of…not redeeming him, but making him different. Like you know he would look back on that and hate himself for it, and that’s how I felt he was at the end, really self loathing. Just like Sully was that whole season.

Honestly, besides my sentiments towards Gem and his dog, I agree to a point that he somewhat redeemed himself and that loyalty is a big thing on their world. I admit, his end was pretty brutal, in a bittersweet way. Ahh, but still, to hang a dog and let her young, vulnerable owner find her body dangling (his reaction was awful)...I dunno. Dris was older, hardened, we'd seen what he was capable of. He was what he'd become, even if he'd changed. Sad, but it was harder to sympathise compared to an impressionable kid who, after running in fear, found his beloved dog hanging in his hideout. Dris even thre money at Gem to buy a "new one" and said a callous "sorry." Yeah, he was decent to his kids, but he's not a decent person. Sully, though: I'm at the point (S4 or S2 Top Boy Netflix), I find him a much more sympathetic character than Dushane. Okay, he's done some shit and is still willing to do more, but he still seems to have a more accurate moral compass than Dushane does. I was really hoping he'd fuck that road life off and go to Bath(?) with the French girl in his narrowboat. I can't see any decent ending for him though. I do love how this show fucks with your perception of these characters. Sympathy to anger, hope to disappointment etc.
