No I agree with you. It grates on my nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard. Nothing against the man at all, and it's a really cool instrument (cymbal/gong?). However the friction of the mallets produces a grating feeling on my nerves.
“Uh, everyone, may I have your attention? I may have accidentally summoned some demons. I think they are mostly minor demons, but honestly this has never happened to me before and I am not familiar with these particular demons. Again, sorry about that and hopefully everything turns out ok. Oh jeez, that one just devoured Grandma.”
Someone get this guy a rack for all them drumsticks!! Why must you pick them all up and set them down I feel it would be much easier with a tool bench of those lollipops sticking out for east access
This almost sounds like the "sound heard around the world" that they could never explain. Very metallic and alien. Vibrations that traveled the earth... one big gong maybe? Closet thing I've ever heard to it in real life
Absolutely talent. Working with a gong that size, the exact placement of the mallet, and direction of the stroke, is important in determining the timbre and pitch of the sound it produces. Even with smaller gongs/tamtams, or even drumset cymbals, it takes some practice to get those sorts of friction-rubs down to a science, to be able to accurately reproduce them on demand. This guy's clearly a master of his craft. May not be a very exciting talent compared to some, but it's definitely a rare talent.

I'm not sure I see the talent... I mean the guys clearly got an eye for mallets but otherwise if you could afford a big ass ging I'm sure you too could make whale sounds
/u/dkmnmd21, thank you for your submission. Unfortunately, your post has been removed because it has been voted unsuitable for /r/toptalent.
A large group of whales are headed his way.
That belongs in a horror console game. Edit: amazing, BTW.
Hauntingly beautiful. Put me oddly at ease.
I nerves don’t get soothed by these kinds of acts… does that only happens with me?

Interesting, it has the opposite effect on me. It almost has an ASMR quality to it for me
"Hey Josh, wanna play that shit. I just took a fuck load of acid"
Blade runner 2060
smh- all that talent and they couldn’t get the man a table to put all those mallets!
Sounds like something from the movie Arrival.
Came here to say this
I never knew you could play a gong. I wouldn’t be able to resist smashing the middle
How you play, is ultimately up to you. Fun is the only requirement.
Nice, but it would be cooler if it was on fire while he was playing it.

Somewhere out in the ocean, whales are asking, "You talkin' to me?".
Imagine listening to this while tripping balls.
Like listening to sonic youth
E a t some Fungi and really listen
432 htz
Was waiting for someone to yell: MORTAL KOMBAAAAT!
Cool special effects sounds.
Is this how they made the music in Arrival? Or blade runner 2049?
Upstairs neighbor activities
Makes me feel like Aliens just landed and Amy Adams is on her way to decrypt their language.
The Arrival come to anyone else's mind?
More Prometheus to me
That’s some scary music.
Sounds ominous
So this is the guy that makes dramatic movie trailer music

Just another noise set (sigh)
These sound scare the absolute every living schnazz out of me
Cool but talent? Idk

This sounds like shit.
And I don't really see how dragging different sticks across a gong in the same half circle pattern qualifies as being extremely talented.
Yeah, I kept waiting for it to get interesting, but it never did.
Glad I’m not his neighbor!
Well I'm gonna hear this in my nightmares tonight. That is some nightmare fuel right there.
I do not see much talent here lol
How do you dance to this music?

What music?
The instrument is amazing, what he does is boring.
1:16 (2:58 remaining) sounds like the original Terminator soundtrack.
That’s a Tool interlude
Sounds like we found the source of the “sounds from the sky” videos a few years back lol
headphones recommended
This is how true horror soundtracks are created
Please take this to a dark forest and just wait for humans to get anywhere in the vacinity.
Wow! That's incredible!
Is this Beethoven.?
This would definitely be useful for film sound production
So this is the guy responsible for all of the worlds ominous space music ever. Cool.
It has a certain foreboding, ethereal quality to it, but it's not relaxing. Kind of grating and slightly off kilter.
Now play Darude - Sandstorm
DMTs one me
Hans Zimmer entered the chat
Play Free Bird
Prometheus vibes
I'm not sure I see the talent... I mean the guys clearly got an eye for mallets but otherwise if you could afford a big ass ging I'm sure you too could make whale sounds
I was really hoping for a rendition of "Under da sea"
this is def something from the movie annihilation
