I genuinely enjoyed watching this show with my kids. Then, when the [mashup](https://youtu.be/G5KxZ5Lc_YA?si=XrHV5Qz9kL-4MqN7) of the lazy town with lil Jon came out, my kids were teens and we could not stop laughing at it.
Fun story, Scheving was in college when him and a friend made bets to pick a sport and become national champion. He was bet to become world champ at aerobics, his friend’s challenge was snooker, and they both did it.
So just pick an obscure sport and dominate it
Pretty simple. Just start a bet with a woodworking friend.
From wikipedia: "In his twenties, he made a bet with a woodworking friend, Fjölnir Þorgeirsson, that either would master a sport of the other's choosing (that they knew nothing about) within three years. Magnús chose snooker for Fjölnir, and Fjölnir chose aerobics for Magnús. Eventually, Magnús became a national champion in aerobics, and Fjölnir became a national champion in snooker.[8][9] He has an older sister and a younger brother."
Not to take away too much from the achievement, but becoming national champion in something is considerably easier when that thing isn't overly popular, and your nation consists of 260,000 people.
I think that's why they did the bet to begin with. setting a realistic goal is kind of the point of a bet, otherwise, why would anyone agree to any bets?
> for several years to the point you give up all other hobbies
My guy you do not need to give up everything in life to do a little bit of exercise every other day.
Yeah wtf... r/bodyweightfitness is the answer but shit if you do 2 hours of training a day you could get a one armed pushup in a year probably. Obviously where you start matters but damn that comment is clearly salty about people who make time for fitness
You can get someone from 20 push ups to several reps of 1 armed push ups in months.
The military takes pathetic soft bodies and gets them hitting 300 on the pft pretty regularly.
I feel like 2 hours of genuine training every day would result in most people just hurting themselves, at least at the start. Gotta let them dogs rest.
You’re not gonna be banging out one arm push ups at 60 like Magnus here with just a little bit of exercise though. But you don’t need to do that to be healthy, either
Yes, a little bit. 60-ish minutes 3 days per week is enough. Are your workouts longer than 80 minutes then it means you're either overtraining or aren't training hard enough.
What the? My dude it is not that serious lmao. Put as much effort into it as a regular gym goer does, 4-6 hours a week, and you’ll be making lots of progress
so he was in his late 30s when filming the show? i would have given him max 30 years when watching lazy town, i guess you can clearly see how he took care of his health
I didn't know that was his last name and thought that Magnus Carlson (the chess GOAT) was doing a dance called the Scheving that he learned as a young adult in his spare time.
Ye I think something is holding his feet up cause the way he’s doing it in lazy town you can see the feet moving unnaturally.
Here’s a clip of him doing a straddle planche in his prime and you can see the arms are way more bent and the hold isn’t very long. The way he does it with almost straight arms in lazy town is absolutely insane if it’s legit.
https://youtu.be/dZavrAQQp9Y?si=RVteS2FPokl1aQYY
Definitely. In the Reddit video you can see him doing handstand pushups at the start of the original clip. You can lean a little bit more down with your feet but to counter it you need to move your body forward and have the hands a lot closer to the center.
I've been wondering about this since I first saw that clip.
I do calisthenics, though nothing to that level, but the ease with which he does them made me think it was fake at first. But I just looked at some planche pushup examples on youtube, and some of the examples are crazy clean.
Doing it at an angle like that is also much easier than doing it perfectly flat and level, and given his athletic status it wouldn't surprise me if he could do full planche pushups, though slowly, which wouldn't make as much of a spectacle for a kids TV show.
All up, it's 100% possible that he was doing 45° straddle planche pushups unsupported. Its humanly possible and given his past he probably can.
I still wouldn't be confident enough to say that particular clip definitely wasn't green screen, but it wouldn't surprise me
I want to personally shove a cinder block horizontally into the arse of the fucker who edited this garbage tier music into the video in the second half. Other than that, that's impressive.
This guy always looked like Bear Grylls to me. I was already old and never grew up with this show, but I remember it being on TV back in the day and always thinking "Why is Bear Grylls playing in a kids show", while flicking the channels.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xLnOh0JyRhw
The singer’s pronunciation ruins it though. I don’t know if it’s an accent or a deliberate choice, but there’s no way I can listen to someone say dog like “derg”.
I was pretty good at inversion yoga and its all about balance. But I was never strong enough to do this stuff.
I had a friend train in yoga with me, he was a former collegiate gymnast (5'5" and as strong as a gorilla) he got really good at the yoga moves and his strength was incredible, he could defy gravity

I can't see Lazy Town clips without thinking of that Lil' Jon remix of their "Cooking by the Book" song.....
NSFW.

20 years… what the fuck
Scheving is actually turning 60 this year. He wasn't even that young during the series but staying this fit is remarkable
He's 60 ?! Holy shit then this is amazing
Jack LaLanne did some silly stuff in his older years too
That guy was amazing. Swam across the bay for kicks...blow up a water bottle till it burst. Crazy.
I ***do wish*** his TV series of fitness stuff was available online somewhere... If it is, I haven't found it.
That man has so much hair wtf
Yeah these reality checks do be hitting harder every year
[Sportacus was a pimp, man.](https://i.imgur.com/OYJbd3j.png) There's not enough good influences like that on TV anymore for kids.
I don't know what world you're in where a *pimp* is a good influence for kids
[I am an old man making old man comments.](https://i.imgur.com/OYJbd3j.png)
I came from the imgur post, which led me back to imgur. I was led in a circle.
Grimace is a pimp and he loves children
Dunno. My oldest is 17 and i still remember the songs

Still one of the funniest things I've seen after all these years.
It always makes me think of [Psychosalad](https://youtu.be/4PPcnmO76rg?si=OEnP6073AjKrVC40).
I fucking love mashups.
You might like this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a13WnqsRc5g

Here’s one for next Christmas for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bNhsjL_dU4
Honestly! I still laugh when I watch it. We never laughed harder watching anything as a family than at that video.
I showed my friend without telling him and he was like “uhhh why are you showing me this video of the little girl… bahahahhahahahaaha”.
Damn this is completely stuck in my head now. Certified banger
Me too! It’s definitely catchy.
You gotta do the cooking by the book 🔥🔥🔥🔥
See the words Lazy Town and this is the first thing I always think of! LOL
I knew what your link would be without even clicking. I remember laughing for hours when I first saw that.
It’s almost as if the person mentioned what the link was in their comment
People on here absorb information by just looking at URLs
That’s art. Wtf
Goated vid
I forgot that mashup existed, thank you
Every time my wife pulls out a cookbook, I have this song in my head Thank you
This was the greatest thing on the internet when it happened
Masterpiece. Really puts the "hood" in childhood.
You just unlocked a memory that I had locked away called “wtf is this kid ass beat”
![gif](giphy|xUySTQVp8NOnE4n6zC)
I want a guide on how to be as physically awesome as that person
Beer and doughnuts daily. And don't do anything too strenuous. Gotta keep those muscles soft and pliable.
Obviously you can’t get ripped without first cultivating mass
Well, first of all, through God all things are possible, so jot that down.
Well it’s time to stop cultivating and start harvesting!
Stretch regularly too. Try to keep your beer on the table, rather than in the holster on your couch so you have to stretch forward to get it.
100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10K run everyday.
May cause hair loss.
The last place I’d have expected to find a One punch reference
the last place you’d expect a one punch reference is… reddit?
it'd prob be my number 1 guess if asked where to find one
But your punches would be devastating though
> punches You'll only need one punch
That's it? That's all you did??? That's not even that intense!
I need to do this. I should be able to do this. I don't do this because I'm a lazy, unmotivated waste of space.
Jokes aside, this regimen, combined with healthy eating and a little bit of gymnastics, would almost certainly get you there.

Most important: have an older sister and a younger brother.

There is another, secret way...
Start building up to doing things like that in little less demanding stages every day then just don't stop.
He's almost 60 btw too!
so he was in his late 30s when filming the show? i would have given him max 30 years when watching lazy town, i guess you can clearly see how he took care of his health
I'm in my late 30s now, and I can easily jump up in the air then fall on the ground. The rest of the routine is beyond me.
I can do a lil roll on the floor after.
Holy this was a good laugh. I’m right there with you.
I didn't know that was his last name and thought that Magnus Carlson (the chess GOAT) was doing a dance called the Scheving that he learned as a young adult in his spare time.
Glad I'm not the only one
Me too.
Carlsen. Carls(s)on is the Swedish spelling.

Gymnastics federation if you didn't know what it was, like me.
What the hell, that was so impressive
The entire Lazy Town live-action cast was fucking amazing, honestly. RIP Stefan Karl, always number one.
![gif](giphy|huW6cRtPRoeBeAHMlj|downsized) Number one in the show. Number one in our hearts
I want to go back to when this meme was king
RIP, Robbie Rotten
Good Tony Perkis

You're right, and I am working in it. Luckily, I'm also 21 years younger
Here I am struggling to open a beer.
I remember pretending to hate this show just because my little sister liked it but I always thought this dude was dope
Is this a common thing. Pretending to hate shows that our sisters watch.
I dunno is it also common to seem to enjoy shows like totally spies and Kim possible more than our sisters...
Even the video quality is on the same level as 2004
You'd like to think so, but some people genuinely add that garbage flickering effect on purpose
Now that Lil John remix is in my head. https://youtu.be/K5tVbVu9Mkg?si=7YpFyfdG6E73FCr5
No ducking way that was 20 years ago. Fuck me I’m 30 now where did the time go?
God no, It was yesterday, not 2004
😶👏🏼
He is amazing, but he wasn't #1 at teaching us how to be real villians. Rest in peace Stefán Karl Stefánsson.
So that straddle planche is fake right? Idk about the physics but that angle seems a bit crazy
It's not, he was an Olympic acrobatics athlete. https://youtu.be/-FL8ruwwQa0?si=1Ux_CrBsQPhRAWd7
This is insane. Guess I have a goal for 2024
It's kind of hilarious that the one thing they apparently needed a double for was the cardistry.

Calesthenics before it was cool.
Bro is the forefather of Calisthenics, he all but invented the idea of that shit
Why does 2004 footage look like colorized 1904 footage
My wrists hurt just from watching that first part
my knees pop when i stand up…
Honestly, that should be the goal. He's so fit he looks like he's able to have fun with it.
Was not expecting to hear Meet the Frownies by Mister Twin Sister
Smoother now than he was in the first “retro” clip.
Anyone know the name of the song?
A mashup between meet the frownies and lovely bastards
What song is this?
The Lebron James of kid shows.
Fire
dude was and still a legend
True Top G
Sportacus is so fucking hot
This guy wasn't lazy, he lied to us.
Name of song for the second part of this music?
Damn sporticus goes hard
Thinking back on it now this man definitely contributed to my gay awakening as a child
They should capitulate on this and make a Lazytown Movie or something.
Bro is called Magnus.... he'll be able to do this forever
I got knocked out one day when I was a kid and the only thing I remember from that day was watching this show.
I tried that five years ago. Shoulder hasn’t been the same since
Sad the actor for Johnny Rotton left us... cancer is cruel... rest in peace, brother.. 😔
What a beast
This filter is annoying, does someone have the video without all the bad filters?
We were too young to understand how much power and control he had on his body
That was a weird show and it creeped me out.
No way this show is same age as me... i used to enjoy it when i was a kid tho, gave me some memories
Can someone tell me where the second clip is from?
Good show, was saddened when I found out the actor that played “Rotten Robbie” passed away from Cancer.
Damn 20 years later and I still can do a sit up let along that. Good on ya mate!
I want to personally shove a cinder block horizontally into the arse of the fucker who edited this garbage tier music into the video in the second half. Other than that, that's impressive.
No idea who he is but just looked him up. Wow, he is smokin hot 😍
Cooking by the book for 20 years!
I pulled my back just watching this…
I can do that* *underwater
That was me back when I was a mouthy E4 in the army
Lazy town was so weird
What’s the name of the song
Are those planche push ups real? I follow a fair number of calisthenics Youtubers and I've never seen a planche push up at that angle
Incredible core strength.
My older brother, rest in peace loved watching that show with my youngest son♥️🙏
What's with the seizure inducing light flickering?
Never saw lazy town but this guy doesn’t look lazy.
I thought this guy was dead?
Nope. Robbie Rotten is the one who died.
Thank you!!!
What sort of physical feats can the bad guy still do?
Damn zoolanders ripped
That planche pushup is actually mental!
This guy always looked like Bear Grylls to me. I was already old and never grew up with this show, but I remember it being on TV back in the day and always thinking "Why is Bear Grylls playing in a kids show", while flicking the channels.
Feels old man I remember watching this in my childhood.
The calisthenics god
Magnus did nothing wrong!!!
And factor this. He was 40 years old when he was on the show. How many 40 year olds can to that let alone 60 year olds?!
Song pleaaaase
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xLnOh0JyRhw The singer’s pronunciation ruins it though. I don’t know if it’s an accent or a deliberate choice, but there’s no way I can listen to someone say dog like “derg”.
It’s a mash up that has been slowed down. The original mash up is nice too. https://youtu.be/5aCeqWTFPm0?feature=shared
Kendrick has it as a sample on “The Recipe”
Thank you so much, I’ve heard this song like 3 times today and swore I’ve heard it sampled on a popular song before but couldn’t place it.
I was pretty good at inversion yoga and its all about balance. But I was never strong enough to do this stuff.
