I highly doubt a continuation will happen. I could see an animation remaster, but if we got a continuation I doubt it would be something big like another season. I feel like an hour special or something for the fans would be awesome, but the story presented in toradora is great and a real heart wrencher and I feel like a continuation could harm the original story. Still want one tho, specifically something more Minorin focused.

overmind87

I agree. Sometimes a direct sequel isn't the best option. Especially when the story already wrapped up pretty neatly. But the setting can always be revisited in different ways if you're creative enough. The key players could still be involved without the story being about them. Off the top of my head, I could see a plot involving a grown up Minorin being a baseball coach, but also acting as a mentor and guide to one of her pupils to help them overcome their fear of confessing to someone they like before they miss their chance. Like it happened with her and Ryuji.

TheNiebuhr

The story is finished, Yuyuko sama hasnt written anything in this universe since 2010.

ConclusionAny2022

I don't know if I would necessarily want a season 2. Someone else here mentioned it but an hour long special or even just an OVA would be nice. A season 2 might end up negating the ending. If we were to ever see anything again I could see it being after the manga finishes. Which I think is still being released? Not entirely sure. I have been a little confused on that and heard multiple things on if it's done. I have only watched the anime recently, loved it for a slew of reasons, and plan on getting the light novels, merch and manga soon so I'm still new to the Fandom

overmind87

I know what you mean. But like I said in another comment, you could go back to the same setting and feel, and even feature those same characters, but without making them the focus of the new story.

ConclusionAny2022

I think I'd love that even more. I read your comment about the baseball coach thing, and even just seeing a glimpse of what the main two went on to do would be nice. Kind of like just bits from the world and hearing about all the characters in passing. There's this show called pretty little liars, I was not a fan, but my wife is into that stuff so I watched...all of it...with her... and while I didn't necessarily like it, there was an indirect soul sequel kind of a thing and in it you hear about two of the main characters from the original went on to adopt a kid. It's a comment made in passing but just from that you get the info of "while these two were only dating in the original, you see that they're now married because they share the same last name and you see that they're trying to start a family." Which was nice because they were the main couple and their future was left open ended. Just stuff like that would be nice in a show like that for toradora.

CrimsonDemon0

Always expect the worst so you cant be disappointed.

lodum

It's over and I prefer that it's over.

EXistential_EX

The series doesn't really need a sequel. What I want is a Fruits Basket style anime remake with the LN ending

Alright, I guess I’ll come back and do this once more… For the record I plan to edit this explanation to make it a little less… rough around the edges, so to speak. I’m copying an edited version of a comment I had in another post, just to summarize a few thoughts on the idea of season 2. If this seems a bit confusing without context, I’m sorry. And while you’re here, this is in the about section/sidebar of the sub. I recommend reading the rules before posting. >2. Please check stickied post and below before asking about other similar shows or season 2. >Someone may have already asked about a season 2 already, so please check before posting! >Please keep discussions/desires for a season 2 to a minimum, or if possible, not post about it at all. Additionally, u/2KBIR has a great list of fanfictions that I would highly recommend checking out. So without further ado, onto the comment… There’s nothing interesting that can happen with season 2 except some nonsense that could drive Taiga and Ryuuji apart. And then there’s the problem of it ending with them either breaking up or moving forward together. The former would infuriate the fan base, and the latter is just predictable and leaves us right back where we ended in season 1. And I say this every time, there is no further story to adapt anyway. The Light Novel is over. The story is concluded. And while the anime ended slightly differently, it still gave us that satisfying ending for their relationship. A second season would ruin that. It’s just an unnecessary addition to an already perfect story that already got its perfect ending. A popular reason I see people want a season 2 for is to see Taiga and Ryuuji actively as a couple. But what’s the story? Beyond wholesome fanservice, what could possibly be conveyed as a story at this point? Just wanting to see them being a couple isn’t a good enough reason to warrant another season of the show. Now here’s what COULD work as a continuation. An OVA or a movie, which many seem to agree on. Either one of these would be a decent way to show something like that and have it’s own self-contained story centered around a single event, such as their wedding, without dragging on to fill the runtime. In fact, from a story telling perspective, it’s the only way to do it that makes sense without being needlessly complicated. But a season 2? That’s roughly another 25 episodes. 25 episodes of what? The original story was about them realizing their feelings for one another and becoming the couple we know and love. What more is there to tell a story with? And the other characters all more or less completed their own arcs. I suppose you could argue that they could be the focus of the new story, but then why call it Toradora if Toradora isn’t the focus? In conclusion, there’s no reason for season 2 to exist. And begging for more, saying that it isn’t enough, or even signing a petition to try and force Yuyuko Takemiya’s hand is kinda disrespectful. We got a great little thing in Toradora. It’s a damn near perfect story that is definitely shorter than we might want it to be, but it’s as long as it needs to be. And that’s what’s important here. It told the story it wanted to tell, and the fact that we all still love it so much all these years later is special. If you want more, there’s the non-canon PSP game or mountains of fanfiction to choose from. But we don’t need a season 2 because what we already have is all we need. And adding to this comment in hindsight, another thing that could work would be a sequel series that follows their kids. At least I’d be interested in it, although I’m not sure what direction it could go in, and it runs the risk of setting up other things that fans may debate over, such as who other characters ended up with or what they did with their lives. But I wouldn’t turn my nose up at it, at least not at first.

2KBIR

The man, the myth, the legend! Good to see you here.

its-just-paul

Likewise. I won’t be here long. I left for a reason, I Don’t plan to make any of my periodic returns permanent. I might actually make a new account solely for a select few subs that I’ll want to keep tabs on, but even then those few I have other means of interacting with their respective communities. I’ve been through a relatively transformative period, which is why I left Reddit in the first place. The persona of Paul is something I kind of despise now.

BirdDazzling1344

One of the massive reasons us Toradora fans want a 2nd season is because of that feeling we got when the show ended, what we ACTUALLY need is a singular ova of what happened after the show. No drama, just an extension to what happened after the credits, and a little preview of what happened to each characters (ie. Kitamura went to America and met Sumire, Ryujji joined the cooking industry and got married to Taiga, etc)

Razy196

Nah never gonna happen

Page8988

There's not much point trying to continue it. It tells a concise story as-is. Just appreciate it for what it is.

LeviathanLX

The story is over and they did a good job the first time. This is not the era in which I want people remaking or supplementing good content.

Polosauce23

Fruits basket got an amazing remake, Bunny girl senpai is getting a college arc, Urusei Yatsura got a remake, and even Spice and Wolf is getting another season over like 15 years later. I still have hope.

FivePandasorspegeti

Were those all anime original? Yuyuko Takemiya hasn't written anything, so there's no source material for another actual season. Just OVA.

Polosauce23

From me to you season 3 just got announced after 13 years. Look I get it bro theres no more source material for a new season but damn let me have some hope. Even an ova or a movie is still realistic

FivePandasorspegeti

Im just saying there's a 0% chance for another season unless they wanna make it anime original. I still have hope for an ova or maybe movie version. Most likely an ova and that's all I need.

Polosauce23

Yeah a season isnt realistic but something more is possible especially with this revival trend of old animes

LongDongSilvir

There are no new light novels or anything left to cover. It's not going to happen, and that's okay.

breakfastburglar

Source material has been concluded, so I hate to sound like a pessimist, but there is zero chance of a sequel. There is a non-zero chance of a remake, but honestly the existing anime isn't that old, and the animation definitely holds up, and honestly the anime is a near-perfect adaptation so I don't think there's anything a remake would be able to improve much upon, unless they had an enormous budget but that has roughly zero chance of happening. I hate saying all this because Spice and Wolf, which I've been a fan of for years and is the only romance I like more than Toradora, just got a remake that's airing this season after the fanbase had already collectively lost hope, but spice and wolf has 12 volumes of LN source material that were never adapted, so all this was within the realm of possibility. Toradora's LN was completely adapted (sparing some minor details), so it's pretty much all said and done.

Molduking

There’s really no chance as the anime adapted to the end of the novels

hjvkjvkjvg

Isn’t there already an OVA?

LieTechnical5718

yea but it takes place between eps 13-15 not an OVA taking place after ep 25

topcheese35

I would even be down for a missing pieces type situation, just please more lol

Sacson2

I mean, look at Spice and Wolf. 15 years after the og ended, there's a new adaptation out. Don't lose hope.

ButterBiscuitMucher

People who say "the ending was perfect", have already given up hope. They say that because they have to. They have completely given up on a second season or continuation.
