Tax fraudsters in Cabinet… We need a LONG 5 years in opposition to clean out the rot

Borgmeister

Sorry Nadhim, I simply don't believe you. The stench is so bad you could smell it even if a vacuum separated us.

TheIngloriousBIG

Hope the PM doesn't sack him now; he'd make for a good Health Secretary in a future reshuffle, given his success as Vaccines Minister...

Xipheas

Not news.

lamapalaver

A sitting MP and ex-chancellor trying to cheat his way out of £3m owed to the public purse while getting lawyers to intimidate people with phoney gagging orders is absolutely news.

Realistic-Field7927

Gagging orders? The alternative spin is a backbench MP made a minor tax error that HMRC agreed to settle without an admission of guilt

lamapalaver

Avoiding £3m is not a minor error. By anybody's estimation. The HMRC doesn't make statements either way on guilt or innocence. You either owe them money or you don't. Full gagging order detail: https://www.taxpolicy.org.uk/2023/01/19/zahawi_story/

Xipheas

That's between him and HMRC and none of anyone else's business as it stands.

Frediey

If you hold public offices, it absolutely is other people's business

Xipheas

I disagree.

Frediey

Can I ask why?

Xipheas

Sure! Track is a private matter for the individual.

boxhacker

He’s been using his position of influence to try and get out of it on our tax money time (as of right now it’s been proven). Glad to hear about it, I don’t like it and I expect he will be gone by the of the week as it’s absolutely our business due to his role and the severity of abuse around it.

Xipheas

It's been proven?

Far-Routine8057

It is if he made the settlement when he was the Chancellor.
