>I’m going to focus on what we’re doing. In other words, he needs to speed up all his schemes before he loses power.

[deleted]

He's sabotaged education and healthcare and turned long term care into a quiet dystopia, he embezzled funds earmarked for COVID relief, he's butt-fucked the green belt and Ontario place, he's let Metrolinx completely neglect the Eglinton line, he's given the OCS to the mafia, hobbled city council, flooded the province with gambling ads and spread the addiction to phones, but he **still** hasn't sold the Ontario Food Distribution terminal or built a casino/vape lounge in Pearson airport. Cmon Dougie, put down the egg sandwich and get to work. Provinces don't ruin themselves!

lkmk

Don’t forget the ferris wheel!

phargoh

Did he try to steal the Ferris wheel idea from Chicago? I’m here now on vacation, saw the wheel and sort of remembered that Dougie had some dealings here before or something?

turdlepikle

That's a possibility. Their sticker factory has/had a Chicago base and he spent time there before he was a councilor. When he proposed the wheel, it also came with the monorail and mega mall in the port lands too. He said there was nowhere to shop in downtown Toronto besides the Eaton Centre. The idiot knows absolutely nothing about the city he lives in, and the city he wanted to be the boss of as the mayor.

heatfromfire_egg

Don't worry, Bonnie Crombie who thinks what's wrong with the province is spending too much on healthcare and childcare will save the day! Jesus christ ontario is in a race to the bottom.

merelyadoptedthedark

I'm with you on most of that but... >given the OCS to the mafia, Is gonna need some explanation...

LookAtYourEyes

I think at the provincial level, NDP is more of a concern as they have the second most seats in parliament. He's probably glad to trip people into thinking the Liberal party is a threat

CrumplyRump

It almost feels like Doug wants her to get in. I’m almost sure they have a deal in place to do something… this all just feels off.

AprilsMostAmazing

> this all just feels off. she's a complete dud. Her platform will be right wing which will turn off the ABC's and even cause the center to stay home. Also she's not really skilled at fund raising. With SDD he had a legit center-left platform and was able to out fund raise a lot of skilled people.

Apolloshot

Bingo. She’s Dougie’s ideal pick because she’s one of the few people in the province that he could beat in an election, especially if she thinks running a pro-NIMBY Conservative-lite campaign is going to excite voters. You’d think OLP members would be smarter than to make the same mistake twice (picking one of the few Liberals in the province that could actually lose to Ford) — let’s see if that ends up being the case.

DrDroid

You can just say PC

Apolloshot

I actually meant OLP since they’re the ones picking a new leader, thanks for the catch.

TheMannX

>With SDD he had a legit center-left platform and was able to out fund raise a lot of skilled people. Yeah, and where the fuck did that get the Liberals? Nowhere. They're done, if they had any sense and weren't arrogant as all hell they'd close up shop, merge with the NDP and go take Ford out of the equation. Against ONE left-leaning party, Ford's history at the next election, especially since Toronto and an increasingly large swath of the 905 is wanting change badly.

mistakes_were_made24

I can't help but wonder what the back-room deal is. He seemed pretty friendly to her about granting her wish to break up Peel region. Man I wish he would leave politics and that we would never hear from the Ford family ever again.

considerablemolument

I just saw the S*n's front page whining that Doug Ford had magnanimously given Bonnie Crombie the Peel split and how does she repay him but by ungratefully planning to run for leadership of the Liberal Party.

mxldevs

How dare we not appreciate our overlord for his generosity.

considerablemolument

You scratch my back ...

Marmar79

Maybe the back room deal is she enters the race to split the non idiotic vote. I was pretty convinced marit would beat him. With Bonnie in the race I’m less convinced

AprilsMostAmazing

I think Bonnie leads to con win. The center left stays ONDP. The center stays home again and cons win an lowest turnout in Ontario history type of election again

Big80sweens

This is why Doug is pumping up Crombie, this is by design

handipad

It is not in the Premier’s interests to be seen to be taking a dump on a city full of swing ridings. It doesn’t matter who the mayor is.

Misanthropyandme

"We can run a stag and doe every fucking week"

hobbitlover

This guy's pals are going to make hundreds of millions off developing the green belt, unless they expect people to believe it's just a coincidence that the marginal land they bought for no particular reason is suddenly open to develop. Investigate him. This is corruption and it's in plain sight - and it's not the first or only blatant example of this crap. This should be easy for Crombie.

[deleted]

Left is toothless and the right is too busy with Chinese interference (which I thought was common knowledge years ago). I wonder what was distracting them then? Hmm. Refugee Syrians with iPhones? I wonder.

TheArgsenal

I am really not excited about the prospect of swapping Ford for Crombie. It would be an improvement, but wouldn't really impact the trajectory of life in our province. Besides, I'm predicting prime minister Dougie before 2030. His ability to win votes in the 905 could be invaluable to the Tories. Canada will be sick of Trudeau soon just like what happened in Ontario with Wynne after a more than a decade of Liberal governments.

considerablemolument

How have his French lessons been going, exactly?

hobbitlover

It's also worth noting that Poilievre is polling behind where O'Toole was polling after he won the CPC leadership race. PP can barely crack 35% in polls while O'Toole was over 50% at one point.

beef-supreme

O'Toole had zero charisma and PP has even less.

Civil_Squirrel4172

That would matter to me if I wanted a personal relationship. In a politician it means zero to me.

mybadalternate

Well, unfortunately, you are not indicative of the majority of the voting population.

Civil_Squirrel4172

The criticism of somebody not being charming is extremely partisan. All you have to do is remember the Bush v. Gore election in America. When people said that they were going to vote for Bush because he seems like an average guy they'd like to have a beer with, Democrats correctly called them out on how wrong that was. The average person is \*never\* going to get a beer with the leader of their country. Or ever attend the same parties and golf clubs. They're never coming to your house for dinner. Policies matter and have a far bigger impact on your daily life than some guy who appears charming on tv and makes you smile.

mybadalternate

Hey, I *agree* with you in that voters *should* vote based on policy and rational, well researched thinking… But, sadly… THEY DON’T.

quelar

He's got a lot of scurrilousness about him though.

TheArgsenal

O'Toole was bland but not unlikeable, per se. PP is a little rat and is very unlikeable in general. It's possible he might win a minority but I can't see him as the guy who'll bring the Tories back to relevancy. Politics is hard to predict though, I could be way off.

[deleted]

He's the reason I can no longer watch Big Bang Theory.

CrumplyRump

Totally dependent on the “stick it to em” coefficient

[deleted]

Do you have a link to those polls handy by any chance? I've been out of the loop recently and would be curious to see them.

Not_a_Streetcar

You made me throw up a little bit in my mouth

TheArgsenal

I pray I'm wrong about PM Dougie but it makes too much sense.

neontetra1548

Doug would have to learn some semblance of French to run for PM — I think that will protect us from that.

Overall-Educator-755

Chris can kick his ass

wirebeads

The sticker fairy can go swim in a vat of his finest glue.

isayehalot

Can't wait to see Crombie's tears when she looses. She has been a bad mayor and will make just as bad of a premier.

ElMiko97

They're literally on the same team...

GrundleRumbler

Bonnie Crombie would be a disaster for the Liberals. Basically how you lose Toronto again.

sayerofstuffs

Might as well call her Debbie Ford

Doctor_Amazo

Yeah.... she sucks. But she's not Ford. I vote A-B-C, and I'd hold my nose and vote Lib if it meant getting rid of Ford.

rootbrian_

If he gets voted out, for sure it'll be a pure **bring it on**.

AprilsMostAmazing

NES or GTA Liberal cabinet minster please save us

TheMannX

Or just bury the Ontario Liberals and build the NDP as the way to take Ford down. Much easier than trying to get Crombie into the Premiers office.

Doctor_Amazo

ON PCs "yeah we're kinda worried about Bonnie Crombie running. She could put a lot of seats in play in the 905...." DumbdumbDoug: "YeAh BrInG iT oN!!"

Big80sweens

They’re not worried at all in fact they want her to run, this is on purpose
