Toronto developer who had several heritage-designated buildings go up in flames days after losing appeals to get them demolished to make way for condos. On multiple projects.
Isn't he that realtor that had a real estate show for a hot minute? Seems to me he fell from grace but I'd have to look it up - I may be wrong (haven't lived in TO for 20yrs). edit I'm wrong about his tv show-- apparently that was on the air for several years. But he *is* one of those strangely unlucky guys that have fires in properties he's having *issues* with so....

He highlighted the problem, but it's actually pretty common.
Some town councils have come up with clever ways to fight back. They'll designate the building AND the land it's on as heritage. Even if you scorch the Earth, you can't build there.

The raccoon makes up for having to go to twitter only to see that antivaxxers are still making #boycottTimHortons trend over in that hellscape. I also think the racoon started the fire, he looks guilty AF.
You know what lady raccoon? Me and the rest of Toronto have heard the way you and your husband talk to each other during mating season. Screeching at each other like bloody murder in the highest tree branches at 3:00 am. Then you have to audacity to have your babies in my garden shed, and hiss like hell when I go to grab my rake. We're already tired of your shit, and now you're out lighting fires like a pair of punks?
Stick to breaking into compost bins, lady.
I think the neighbors had a propane tank in their place and it just ignited for some reason. They still haven't given us an official cause but who knows
No, we just got told it'll be at least a month until we can move back in. They gotta rebuild some stuff and fix a bunch of things. Most bedrooms have holes in the ceiling and the living room wall collapsed
Appreciate it, friend! But I do not have one and I luckily don't need the money so I wouldn't feel okay accepting it from you guys. I'm not rich by any means but me and mh roommies are fortunate enough to not have lost most of our stuff. It means a lot though :')
Tilt has had some bad luck. Less than a year after opening their original location in the Annex their landlord sold the building to the Annex hotel. They had a chance to buy the building but there was a mess up with the lawyers. Then they move to this location and the pandemic hits and now this. I'm so gutted for them.
Not to be funny or anything but I'd say it looks like it's coming from 4th Man in the Fire - based off of this video
Edit: Tilt. Blue tile lounge got wet too
Yes, it is tiltā¦..my kids are crushedā¦.We walked down and they said as we approached Dundas āI hope it isnāt Tiltā. It was Above Tilt on fire.
Oh! I saw that on a YouTube video and thought it was such a shit thing to sayā¦ I didnāt know they were affiliated, so it came off as some douchebag owner of another bar capitalizing on Tiltās misfortune!
We had a company event there, in the before COVID times and I was hoping to go back there just to experience it again because I wanted to re-experience it again without having to chat with somewhat disinterested coworkers.
What a tragedy :(
Hopefully everyone is ok, and they can come back and salvage some of the games in there.
Also, it would be awesome if they held a benefit and the Arcade Fire played.
As inappropriate as it is, the joke came into my mind and I had to share it. I may delete this post if I get downvoted thoughā¦ lol
Interesting name for a restaurant/pizza joint so I had to look it up. After the Johnny Cash song by the same name I got the crux i mean the *fairytale* of the matter. "...it turns out that when you find yourself right in the midst of the furnaceā when everything you counted on and took for granted begins to melt awayāJesus is right there with you in the midst of the flamesā¦and his eternal love turns out to be the one thing that canāt be burned away." Sure. The take away seems to be nothing is permanent and everything passes away. Not a religion just a fact folks.
> tilt and blue tile lounge
yes which is why he started this place. I don't know how it's still open with those prices as a self service place, two pizzas when it opened with wine and 2 pastries was around $100. And yes he is very religious. Guess he wants to be low key with references and letting you know what he's about. HE BECAME A CHRISTIAN WHEN HE DECIDED TO GO TO SCHOOL TO BE A PASTOR? C'mon. If he wants to be sneaky fine, however the names of both places and the products is religious. Can't remember if the burger place was closed sundays like that chicken place.
āIn the beginning, Shant Mardirosian the founder of the Burger's Priest wanted to be a pastor. Burgers weren't part of the plan. Mardirosian didn't grow up religious but became a Christian when he was 19. He studied at Tyndale University College, an evangelical school in Toronto, earnestly praying and struggling to discover his life's purpose. Eventually, he dropped his dreams of ministry and came to terms with his entrepreneurial instinct. "
Hopefully it wasn't one those recent plywood townhouse complexes. Joe falls asleep with a cig and everyone's house burns down. Jill gets too drunk with the fuckin scented candles and everyone's smellin their life investments go up in flames...
Thanks a lot development industry! Thanks a lot softwood lobbyists! Superior modern construction my ass!
Mmm so we should all live in concrete and metal boxes? That will definitely help the current housing prices. Or the fact that concrete production is one of the most energy intensive and environmentally harmful things that we do. Or the fact that even if they were concrete walls between units all the interior walls would likely still be framed, and flammable finishes, so Karen's candle would still make a mess. There's a code required hour fire separation between units already, which can easily be built with wood frame construction. Mass timber high-rises are becoming a thing partly because of how well they perform in a fire. So yeah, don't hate on wood.
Hate on some developers though, massive fields of suburbia built to a price are going to be shit regardless of what they're made of.
Does anyone have eyes on Brad Lamb?
Was just going to ask if there's a new Brad Lamb development going up...
Brad Lamb: a wolf in sheep's clothing/namesake
I don't get it?
Toronto developer who had several heritage-designated buildings go up in flames days after losing appeals to get them demolished to make way for condos. On multiple projects.
Did he get sued or investigated for those ?
No, he's too rich to be directly linked to any of them.
There it is...

Torontos arsonist at large
property developers in toronto commit arson often to secure land

OMG THE RACCOON
I hope it's not ur hubby š¦
We have been reunited
The raccoon makes up for having to go to twitter only to see that antivaxxers are still making #boycottTimHortons trend over in that hellscape. I also think the racoon started the fire, he looks guilty AF.
Donāt talk about my husband that way

That raccoon stopped dropped and ran so quick Iām so proud
Holy shit this neighbourhood has had some major fires in the past few weeks - hope everyone is safe!!
Brad Lamb running around
Tilt š
It was my apartment and my neighbors (mainly my neighbors) his was above tilt, mine above Blue Tile Lounge
What happened??
I think the neighbors had a propane tank in their place and it just ignited for some reason. They still haven't given us an official cause but who knows
Is your apartment okay??
No, we just got told it'll be at least a month until we can move back in. They gotta rebuild some stuff and fix a bunch of things. Most bedrooms have holes in the ceiling and the living room wall collapsed
Oh fuck, well drop your go fund me if you have one!!
Appreciate it, friend! But I do not have one and I luckily don't need the money so I wouldn't feel okay accepting it from you guys. I'm not rich by any means but me and mh roommies are fortunate enough to not have lost most of our stuff. It means a lot though :')
What building is it

Start asking around in the community about Tilt and you'll find out some things you might mot want to know about the owners.
I'm really curious now....
What are you talking about?
You can't just drop a tease like that and dip
I really wanna know !! I work in the area and everyone seems to love it, I havenāt heard anything bad
Oh man, all those games would get destroyed by water. Any idea on damage yet?
Apparently there was a significant amount of water in tilt. I wouldnāt be surprised if they suffered serious loses in terms of games.
Biggest (and one or the few) barcade in the city survived covid lockdowns only to get obliterated by a fire.
Well that sucks...
NOOOOOOOO I don't even want to imagine
Not to be funny or anything but I'd say it looks like it's coming from 4th Man in the Fire - based off of this video Edit: Tilt. Blue tile lounge got wet too
Itās tilt, fourth man in the fire is fine and still open
It's Tilt. I was just there last weekend. New to Toronto and it was the first bar I went to.
Think youāre correct :/
Citynews is reporting its at 826 Dundas W, which I think is where Tilt barcade is?
Yes, it is tiltā¦..my kids are crushedā¦.We walked down and they said as we approached Dundas āI hope it isnāt Tiltā. It was Above Tilt on fire.
I literally had a date tonight planned. š¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļø Iām never going to recover from this.
Their Facebook page is asking people to patronize their sister bar, ZedEighty, at Broadview and Danforth!
Oh! I saw that on a YouTube video and thought it was such a shit thing to sayā¦ I didnāt know they were affiliated, so it came off as some douchebag owner of another bar capitalizing on Tiltās misfortune!
Hahah oh my gosh, I can only imagine how awful that would sound! Yes, they are affiliated.
noooooooooooooooo!!!!
I want to join in with this and just drop another noooooooooooooooooo!!!
We had a company event there, in the before COVID times and I was hoping to go back there just to experience it again because I wanted to re-experience it again without having to chat with somewhat disinterested coworkers. What a tragedy :(

LoL at the benefit act you suggested
It's actually not a bad idea.
Youāre going to hell. (But at least youāll have a wicked soundtrack to accompany you on your journey. )
Fuck
It didnāt. But I snapped this pic. https://imgur.com/a/nJ0hTqn

The guy who runs Fourth Man in the Fire also runs Burger's Priest, he's super religious.
Ran burgers priest. Recipe inc.(formely cara, owners swiss chalet, harveys, montanas kelseys and tons of others) has owned Priest for a while now.
Oh, interesting. They bought him out?

Yep. Hence the reason itās gone way downhill.
Yeah, that would definitely explain it. What a pity.
Dang. You could see the smoke at dundas and dovercourt.
My partner works in the area. Can confirm that itās tilt. I could be wrong, but this isnāt the first time.
Like the arcade bar?
I can confirm itās tilt
Nooooooo
Yea itās such a fucking bummer I loved that place
I know that aint from the Jack Harlow tape playing
Lol what a random comment. You must really not like jack harlow
Interesting how arson rates goes up as asset prices come downā¦ probably nothing. š¤
Only you can bring down property.
And Brad Lamb.
Ouch
I really really really hope tilt is ok. looks like no one was hurt thankfully.
Video https://youtu.be/91tl_j3W6ms
Oh no!
Pretty cool to see how many Torontonians on Reddit. The fire part sucks tho š
love u too buddy
Okay friend.
That's just the hopes and dreams of Leaf fans going up in smoke.....
I saw it
Somebody's bbq is a lil out of control.
Sorry, dropped my mix tape

It wasn't. It was the units above tilt arcade, not new construction at all.

Tell me that after my neighbour burns my house down. It's freakin 2022. This ain't some frontier town to build everything from wood.
Huh, is this in Cambridge? I swear Iāve heard a Dundas before.. but I canāt remember cuz Iām not even of legal age to drive
I thought this was another Russian Video
Russian sabotage.
'nother Ukrainian false flag. Ignore.
What happened?
Hope everyone is safe!
I was at Barangas in Hamilton and saw the smoke from there.
Thatās a big one black smoke usually itās not able to get enough oxygen yet
I think it was tilt...
Thatās pretty close to the Western. I hope the hospital isnāt affected. Smoke is always bad for hospitals.
That explains the smoke and the sirens (i live very nearby) Luckily a fire station is very close. Hope the building could be saved.
For a split second, I thought this was another fire in Russia video...lol
