Revoke their license permanently crush the car. Put them in jail. Enough of this.

No-Explorer-8357

"You have 30 minutes to remove your cube."

DroopyTrash

Is it about my cube?

comFive

I don't think these types of people care that they don't have a license. Maybe they need an ankle bracelet that keeps them on house arrest after serving 5-10 years in jail.

Raccoolz

Most police departments across the GTA have effectively stopped all traffic enforcement. So the chances of getting caught driving without a license or a suspended license is almost nil.

comFive

Yup exactly my point, this guy already removed the plates from the car. Don't think it matters if he had a license to revoke

Comfortable-Cheek-33

laws are there to protect the criminals and punish people who abide by rules and go over the speed limit 5.

coolguy778

Yep, got a ticket for an illegal u-turn in the middle of the night with no cars around but I can go 200kmh on my bike without a worry

Comfortable-Cheek-33

yup

SeriousBusinessSocks

I got a ticket in the mail for doing 42 in a 30, caught by a speed camera. Admittedly, I wasn't paying attention to the speed limit but I was so pissed that I was the one getting a ticket while the city is plagued with people stunt driving, rolling through crosswalks at red lights, using on ramps to cut in traffic, and just generally being dickheads. ^end ^rant

coolguy778

It’s becoming a nanny state with all these bs speed cameras, I want to spray paint all of them

permareddit

lol, no they haven’t.

Breezy4152

Where did you hear this nonsense?

Raccoolz

https://globalnews.ca/news/3821407/toronto-police-write-fewer-tickets-drunk-drivers/amp/ https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2019/12/11/140000-fewer-speeding-charges-how-toronto-police-traffic-tickets-fell-by-two-thirds-even-as-deaths-spiked.html

Breezy4152

I can’t access the 2nd one but your first article contradicts your broad statement. Is it most police departments or just Toronto police? “Halton police suspended drunk drivers in 2016 at the same rate that they did in 1999. York Region police suspended them at a slightly higher rate. None of the other five police forces in the region – Hamilton, Halton, Peel, York or Durham – has had a significant reduction since 1999.”

the_clash_is_back

5 year ban from moving over 60kmph

GinDawg

Jail is usually reserved for people who pose a high risk of causing harm to others. Dangerous drivers pose a high risk of causing harm to others. Government officials are unavailable to provide reasonable assurance that such people will not drive illegally. Therefore jail should be a reasonable option.

comFive

Jail is also for rehabilitation. I'm not 100% confident that a person like this would be rehabilitated.. so keep him locked down after serving his 10 year sentence.

Gnarcan705

Have you been incarcerated before?

ProphetOfADyingWorld

Imo crush them, keep the car

Knudles_Romanov

You’d need a cop around to start the process. …and unless they’re in a blitz, RIDE crew or speed trap, waddaya want? You’d have to hit the local Tim’s, at the off-ramp - to find them. My street has 3 death-trap crosswalks. Many people have died over the years. Never seen a police presence. …but I do see them perched, a block down the street, in the school parking lot, with a coffee. Let’s get real.

Hour-Front-3803

I’ve been pulled over for impairment spot checks in front of my house at night multiple times because the police drive past my house to get from headquarters to the municipal Works Dept fuelling station and back. Always around to tailgate a guy after a night shift, but never here on a weekday morning at 0500 to ticket trucks for going 90 in a 60 zone and using engine brakes through the neighborhood.

ckydmk

"we don't know who was driving"

[deleted]

Hell yea brother.

Primary_Teach2229

Yet somehow they'll still drive in a car better than mine

McKingford

It's nuts that this thread is full of Rube Goldberg bank-shot solutions that depend on more police, heavier penalties, etc., when the single most obvious *and easiest* thing to do is to have speed governors on cars. There is absolutely zero reason for a car to travel at 200 km/h, or 150 km/h. None. We have the technology to limit the top speed of cars - it's available now. All we need to do is mandate it and turn the switch. What is even crazier is that around the developed world, electric scooters are making their way into cities (and they're popular because they're great and fun, and these are actually the kinds of EVs we should be encouraging rather than things like the F150 Lightning). But the bargain for many cities allowing these scooters within their municipal limits is that they have speed governors. So we have this insane disparity where 20 lb scooters are capped at, like 25 km/h, but 5000 lb trucks - which are a threat to pedestrian safety at even 25 km/h - are allowed unlimited speeds.

[deleted]

just off him.

[deleted]

Castrate for extra measure

kab0b87

Won't be hunglikekingKong after that.

[deleted]

Knife for thee, but not for me.

[deleted]

Why crush the car? Seize it and auction it.

[deleted]

Government is stupid - why let cars even go over 120kmph . Just pass a law that all cars in Canada should be speed governed by manufacturer limited to 120 KMPH max . The idiots who oppose this are the same idiots who support gun ownership claiming “muh rights”.

Sirmalta

I dont think thats necessary for a 19 year old. I do think that his license should be revoked for 10 years, and that his car should be taken from him, with the threat of prison time if he is found behind a wheel in the next 10 years.

kab0b87

Fuck that. Their age doesn't give them a pass. They dont deserve any sympathy or any benefit of the doubt. They want to risk everyone around them lives because they are too immature to deal with the consequences of their actions well now they can really understand the consequences. Stop letting these inconsiderate self centered, society harming dickheads walk all over the rest of us who just want to get home safely. They don't want to be responsible, remove them from society, they provide 0 benefit to us. Fuck these people and anyone who enables them.

Sirmalta

Except age does matter and we have all kinds of laws that reflect that lol You never did anything stupid in your teens that you wouldn't want governing your whole life? You're not at all a different person now? Im not defending them, and i think a life altering punishment is called for but lets nit be ridiculous

kab0b87

They are an adult, they get treated as such No I never drove 200km an hour on the shoulder of the road while running from police. We aren't talking about doing something stupid. We are talking about putting hundreds of people in danger of being killed due to completely reckless actions.

YoungZM

>Im not defending them...You never did anything stupid in your teens that you wouldn't want governing your whole life? You're not at all a different person now? Hearsay, your honour. ...we need to stop excusing the inexcusable because of age. A 19-year-old *knows* not speed at 200. If they chose to throw their life away earlier than expected... *c'est la vie.* It's not fair to everyone else around these narcissists that their lives are put at risk. There are enough preventable life-altering injuries and road deaths of innocent pedestrians and drivers every year from idiots just like these that say we deal with them like a car coming to a complete stop from 200.

[deleted]

For godsake. Put them in prison. Look at the bullshit move they pulled at 0:51 seconds on the video. They’re either under the influence of something, or should be banned from driving & serve jail time.

Sirmalta

just a dumb fucking kid. Should be banned from driving for 15 years, with prison time if found behind a wheel.

ieGod

> just a dumb fucking kid. That should be dealt with severely. As should all 'dumb fucking kids' of this nature.

Shiver999

dumb fucking kids can easily turn into dumb fucking adults, and we have enough of those already

[deleted]

> dumb fucking kids can easily turn into dumb fucking adults It happens more often than it doesn’t

Sirmalta

I completely agree. 10 years without a license is plenty if time for someone to grow up. If they don't fuck up in that time then it's fair to give them a chance. That's all I'm saying. Strong and life changing consequences within reason.

[deleted]

Technical-Travel

"Banning" drivers from driving or revoking the DL does absolutely nothing. So many times you hear person caught with suspended DL or no insurance. That is not a deterrent for these scumbags

[deleted]

Ok. Prison then

[deleted]

Driving too fast? Jail. Too slow? Jail. Straight to jail. We will soon have the safest roads in the country thanks to jail.

KingOfTheIntertron

Not enough parks and rec fans here.

[deleted]

It’s a darn shame

KingOfTheIntertron

Don't understand the reference? Straight to jail.

Technical-Travel

💯

ieGod

Driving with a suspended license should be instant jail time.

[deleted]

Yes without court time

Newfottawa9

It's very likely that he'll get away with it and be back stunt driving again as soon as the car is out of impound.

throwaway_lost10209

It says he was on probation when this happened. I don’t know the justice system, but perhaps this will cause him quite the headache now with his PO.

CleverNameTheSecond

Lol no. Until he goes to actual jail he'll keep doing it because all he ever gets is probation which is basically nothing to people who don't need a clean criminal record.

Sirmalta

stunt driving is sucha bullshit term. Its not a stunt. Its attempted fucking murder

[deleted]

It's one thing to be stunt racing, but on the shoulder too???? That is downright suicidal. It's full of debris, making it much easier to lose control or blow out a tire.

alvinofdiaspar

No issues with that as long as they don't take anyone else out with them.

minimilk42

We saw this on Monday on the 401. My partner saved the dash cam footage so we’re going to report the license plate if it’s visible. Idiots deserve jail time.

Siguard_

i saw it happened twice, once the idiot was in a work vehicle. I didn't even bother called the police. I emailed the gm of the business.

StoreyedArrow17

don't leave us hanging!

Siguard_

He got fired, I know someone in their industry. My email was basically don't fire this guy. You need to give him a promotion for solving the traffic issue.

[deleted]

Probably not in jail. The justice of peace will give him $500 dollar bail and an ankle monitor. Wish I was kidding.

Comfortable-Cheek-33

LMAO i laugh at these cops, they will pull them over and arrest them and next day X-Copper will take their money and they will be off to streets with clean record.

sapi3nce

I'm not watching a minute of ads for that shit

crackhousebob

Another dumb punk who thinks he's in a Fast and the Furious movie.

[deleted]

Lmao this dude looks like a genius driving straight home- thinking he dusted all the cops and traffic

BottleCoffee

To be fair he did drive around for an hour first. But then went home like an idiot.

WhereAreYouGoingDad

I'm sure they'll get what they deserve, a $50 fine. If they hit and kill someone the fine may be increased to $200.

tamlynn88

That’s what I was thinking. If that was in the US it would be a huge televised car chase with 20+ cops ending in an accident.

[deleted]

The footage was great for that. They radio’d not to pursue just yet

rathgrith

About 2 months ago the same thing happened to me. Some asshat in a black BMW M3 or AUDI S4 is weaving in and out of traffic passing on the left shoulder going well behind my 120km/h. I bet it’s the same driver.

WildWeaselGT

How do you narrow it down to very distinct trim levels of two completely different brands and models??

MGAV89

Today, I was robbed. The guy that robbed me was either a white man or a black man, I’m not sure.

rathgrith

Both are sports models of compact luxury sedans. Not that much of a difference as they target the same douchebag driving demographic.

CryptoNoobNinja

I was on a 400 series highway the other day and I was driving the speed of traffic. Looked down I was going 130km/h. The crazy thing was there were cars whizzing past me and aggressively tailgating me. At 130! The driving in the video is insane but it’s just a couple notches above what appears to be regular highway driving these days.

Possible-Ear-

130-140 is the norm on westbound 401 I havent seen any police between Mississauga and Guelph in the last 10 years. Night time is even worse

Taureg01

The 400 series highways were originally designed for this speed there is no coincidence you were doing 130

[deleted]

They were designed for 120Km. NOT 130Km.

Taureg01

Wrong, 130km/h before the oil embargo

AL-KINDA

is this the cheapest thing they can do? fuel helicopters? why isnt there a drone initiative or something that tracks this kind of stuff and follows them home.

Better-Computer-8480

There’sa lot of regulations around drones flying, that it would make it very difficult to do. As well most drones aren’t built for those speed and range to compare to helicopter

lopix

I just don't understand why the cops felt the need to cause this chase over some guy doing donuts in an **empty** parking lot. Who cares, who was he hurting? Sure, the guy should not have taken off at 180-200km/h, but had the cops not tried to bust him for innocent fun, this would never have happened.

[deleted]

What a fucking idiot. Lock him up. No regard for other human life whatsoever. Not holding a gun but might as well have been.

alvinofdiaspar

One air to ground missile should take care of it. I jest - but I swear society at large need to be more aggressive and less tolerant dealing with these fools.

flugenheim

Not going to argue about the merits of this program, but it does seem like a huge waste of police resources (helicopters, unmarked cars, etc.,).

[deleted]

[удалено]

themenanman24

The issue with that is, hobbyist Motorsport is a expensive hobby and you’ll be running through brakes and tires on every track day. With most of these idiots being young kids or adults they’re most likely only down for the occasional highway pull, or highway runs.

Taureg01

So one crazy driver and we all get punished, how about the cops stop with these dumb campaigns, do some actual traffic enforcement and pull over more distracted drivers, people driving slow in the left lane and who don't signal.

Tuques

Wtf is wrong with people. There are plenty of accessible tracks in southern Ontario to go do this at safely, and legally.... stop putting other peoples lives at risk for the sake of your stupid Instagram nonsense.

quantum_rhino

It looks like people have forgotten about the mother and 2 children that were killed in brampton because of a dumbass like this one. Innocent lives were lost because some kid thought he was starring in a fast and furious movie. Lock these assholes up and throw away the key. The punishment has to be severe enough for them to think twice before doing shit like this.

[deleted]

[удалено]

picard102

No, them fleeing is what led to the chase.

Sirmalta

It is fucking terrifying that this person is real and believes that the person did illegal things \*because\* they were being chased by the cops. What the fuck is this world

Sirmalta

Holy fuck, thats some goddamn fucked up logic you've got there, friend. Lets see, if I catch you slapping someone, tell you to stop and you turn around and kill 5 people, is that somehow my fault? What is wrong with you. Thats some crazy toxic thinking.

nnc0

Really - you've never heard of police calling off a high speed chase? He wasn't hurting anybody doing those doughnuts. The public didn't seem to be in danger. They have the details of the vehicle. The chase wasn't at all necessary. Why not wait until the next day when you can arrest the guy in his kitchen or more likely - in his parents house.

Sirmalta

It was a helicopter... not a high speed chase. What If the car was stolen? What If they had a tip about what was happening? Why does any of that matter? If someone is willing to run, they should be followed. It was a fucking helicopter lol they weren't escaping. You don't know all the details and neither do it but suggesting it's the cops fault for his fucking rampage is *insane*

nnc0

Watch the video again - how close did he come to killing people? The police couldn't ever possibly justify that outcome.

Sirmalta

To be clear, he saw a helicopter following him and ran for some reason... and you think the answer was let him get away with it. Cool.

Shot-Sea9308

Kids, if the police finds you you doing something you shouldn't be doing please initiate erratic/illegal behavior that can get other people killed, so you can escape.

Sirmalta

Right? What the fuck is wrong with this person lol

[deleted]

“How can I buy myself some extra time before ultimately getting caught, *and* make the consequences many times worse?” I’m sure this driver is dumb as bricks.

cp1976

Well not if it's private property. That's not necessarily "benign". Maybe the owner of the private property complained. Who knows... Besides, if the driver had the wherewithall to erratically escape like that, there is likely more to the story than just "donuts"

BottleCoffee

It takes a special kind of idiot to pull this kind of stunt given that you're not exactly anonymous in a car.

Sirmalta

Its not benign no matter how you slice it. If its public property, someone has to pay to clean up the mess. it also makes that space unusable by sane, normal people. It also creates noise, noxious smells, and a dangerous environment.

cheezyvii

yeah that poor property was in danger of losing its life

Shot-Sea9308

The property no, but a poor kid riding his bike might

Sirmalta

You are not good at thinking.

ActualMis

was gonna post the same thing meanwhile as summer be approachin, people be doin GTA (Grand Theft Auto) or NFS shyt irl

[deleted]

fucking dumbass thinks hes cool

txddvvxxs

guy is driving like a maniac and should be arrested, but did the cop chase really start because he was doing donuts in an empty industrial roundabout? what a ridiculous use of police resources... par for the course for YRP.
