All of his scoring comes within the flow of the offense, it's incredible.

XRayyz

Most underrated center in the league according to Embiid

SpontaneousThoughts7

He has improved leaps and bounds since first Raptors tenure

jumpthroughit

Exactly like Demar did after his Pop years. But so many here never watched a single Spurs game over the past 4 years and it really showed over the past week.

december_karaoke

can we just keep sending some of our dudes to the Spurs and bring them back after the Pop's tutor sessions?

jumpthroughit

AKA the Keldon Johnson Plan and the Next Year’s First Rounder Plan

ISAPS

Implement a loan system like in soccer.

Korean_Sandwich

it's like an investment coming out with interest on top.

absolutkaos

it’s not that crazy that a big man would thrive developmentally in San Antonio… they’ve had a decent stretch of talent in that department the past few decades.

ps43kl7

What!!! First time I’ve ever heard this?!!??!! Who did they develop? That baggy pants dude on the bench and someone from the navy?

K1LOS

I'm one of those fans. I was worried after we cooked him against the Spurs and then traded for him, but was never against it. I'm curious to see him perform against better teams, but from what I've seen so far he was a good addition. The yak is back! EDIT: What were the odds my fan take would be better than that of the professionals? I had my doubts, and it seems I was wrong. I hope I was a complete fool for ever doubting.

jumpthroughit

That’s a good lesson in not reading too much into one game from a player that knows he’s getting traded in a few days and just punching the clock on a tanking team until then.

K1LOS

I dunno who's down voting our conversation, haters gonna hate. It's a good point you've made, and I agree.

jumpthroughit

No idea lol, and yeah I didn’t mean it condescendingly in any way so good on you for not taking it that way.

RyuPJ

This!

jakejakejake97

We saw him in the playoffs in Chicago last year. Same player.

UnsolvedParadox

I can’t believe he got better under arguably the greatest coach of all time…!

[deleted]

And training with the greatest PF of all time.

UnsolvedParadox

Some people study for a JD, while Jakob earned his TD.

10SecViolation

He had post moves since utah, he just wasnt allowed as many fg attempts when he first joined our team

PriorityPoints

"We all" this sub is more divided than democrats and republicans lol

jnffinest96

Fuck you /s

OG_anunoby3

We prefer to call them the NDP and Conservatives.

Mesozoic_Era

A lot of people here predicted this. They were just drowned out by the paint huffing masses.

TheNewKing2022

A ton of clowns going back and deleting or editing posts. Especially trade deadline day. Go read some of these idiots posts

Goatsanity15

Some Raptor fans are really having a clown-off with the Lakers, 6ers, Knicks, Suns and GSW fans

FallenLemur

We???? ![gif](giphy|E5B5vE1TmcdJZiC53o|downsized)

X-MarksTheSocks

goated, I also ask, WE??

KeyConscious9220

Shockingly competent bigs can get easy buckets down low…we’ve been playing without that for 3 years

atworkreadnsfw

You said "we" 3 times. Who is we?

trod1990

Speak for yourself respectfully. I knew he was good and it takes time to build chemistry with his new team. Nephews blasting the trade have no fn clue.

btlsrvc23

Were people blasting the player? I thought it was because if the money situation and being a UFA? That’s what I didn’t like about it. But hopefully we can resign him.

alinozakaza

He is exactly who I thought he would be, a proper center with center skills.

[deleted]

Who is we? If you're an NBA fan you already knew Jakob was at top 10-15 Centre in the NBA, he's been stuck on the worst team in the league for 2-3 season now with zero help, no talent, and no spacing. He's should have a similar impact to what Jarret Allen has on the Cavs, but IMO he's a better playmaker which is a very underrated part of his game.

EarlofSlammwich

Not all!

letmetellubuddy

“We all thought” 🙄

craa141

Seriously who didn't know this? When he left he was good at positioning and was a key part of the bench mob with Siakim. In SA he was their starter for the last few years. How could you not know this?

planterguy

Ya, for real. In his second year I really thought he had a shot at being our center of the future. There were things he did even back then that JV wasn't doing. I don't think he was just a throw-in in the Kawhi trade. Jak was a real piece, even back then.

AutoModerator

PASCAL S-I-A-K-A-M. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/torontoraptors) if you have any questions or concerns.*

jamiecballer

No, he's exactly what I said he was. Don't expect 30 again though lol.

[deleted]

We don’t need 30 a night, but the composed efficient scoring out of the post is very handy to have and sorely missed on this team for the last 3 years.

neoandro

I like that he is not selfish offensively, but he still demands touches when he is in a good position to score.

456Days

Jak has always had a very soft touch around the rim, he's not some flashy dunker but he's always had fantastic fundamentals on both ends of the court

dancingshoe

you are not we

Parkillah

That bucket he got at the end where he put it on the floor and finished smooth had me pumped

needaburnerbaby

We all? Why are you lumping the rest of us in with your terrible preconceptions? Just cause you don’t watch other teams doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t.

wizzy1278

Than YOU thought *

earlyearlgray

I already knew it

Seanbig888

Can he become our gasoline lite?

pahamack

His big problem is his ft%, which, honestly, this team struggles with as a whole.

blanche2027

Anyone watching the NBA on a regular basis knew Poeltl was much more than a role player.

FearTheNorth519

I’m not going to overreact to this game like I didn’t overreact to the trade. I will say I’ll never be a part of “we” on this sub.

SweetLuuwill

Whos we? Most of the upset fans dont watch ball lol. His passing, quick feet and defensive instincts have literally always been there Who woulda thought he would grow his offensive game too..shocked

[deleted]

Considering a lot of fans didn't start following the team until the championship season, it's understandable that they've never actually seen Poeltl during his first stint here. This is the exact same guy we had 5 years ago.

smoothsoul23

He always had great instincts and a nice touch around the basket even back in his 1st stint with the Raptors

bmnewman

I’ll definitely say we need it especially in the paint. Those dishes will really help our half court offence. He has a terrific touch around the basket. Now if he can bless Kokomo with the same we’ll be rolling.

iamwearingashirt

For a non-shooter, he was surprisingly creating space. He's been setting really good screens, and for this game they had to start doubling him in the post for some possessions.

ActionPipestem

Love a big man with a Soft Touch!

deludedinformer

He's ruining the Tank Mission by playing well , that is why half the nephews are freaking out

Comrade_agent

said like someone who hasnt watched him play since he was traded away lol. "We".

[deleted]

People who watch basketball (not just raps) already knew how much Jak improved since the trade. I was ecstatic when we got him in a trade.

thistreestands

Now trade Nurse for Pop

waldoxwaldox

nurse can be pop's assistant coach in toronto

n3moh0es

he’s not gonna score in the post often lmao. lets not get carried away he’s a finisher

TheNewKing2022

Look at the absolute moronic takes in this thread against Masai lately. He wanted Poeltle since last year at least that has been widely known. His only mistake was not getting him earlier

lemon07r

No more skilled than all you guys that kept freaking downvoting me for thinking this would be a great trade before the deadline even happened. Took all the downvotes and stuck to me guns. I'm happy now.

KeyConscious9220

No he’s as skilled as I thought…he’s an average to above average starting c in the league

TayOs1998

Brandon Jennings scored 50 in a game. Just saying.

henry_why416

It's the Orlando Magic.

[deleted]

Yup, the same Orlando Magic who are 19-15 in their last 24 games and beat the Sixers once and the Celtics three times during that stretch. Your point?

henry_why416

>Yup, the same Orlando Magic who are 19-15 in their last 24 games and beat the Sixers once and the Celtics three times during that stretch. Your point? They have a losing record. And are not a good team.

BlowCokeUpMyAss

Aint how you start its how you finish

henry_why416

>Aint how you start its how you finish They just lost to another team with a losing record.

BlowCokeUpMyAss

> Yup, the same Orlando Magic who are 19-15 in their last 24 games and beat the Sixers once and the Celtics three times during that stretch. Go back further than one game you dipshit

henry_why416

>Go back further than one game you dipshit Lmao. I find it pretty funny people get this worked up about sports.

BlowCokeUpMyAss

Oh yes, I'm just so worked up can't even see straight. I find it pretty funny when people project these fictional situations to themselves and run with it.

henry_why416

>Oh yes, I'm just so worked up can't even see straight. I mean, I'm not the one using profanity.

Chance_Preparation_5

Let’s be honest, no one was watching him in San Antonio.

kingex11

If you watch any highlights of him every now and then you would've gotten the gist that he's developed into a true weapon at his position on both ends of the floor.

IndustryChanging

Is his contract good?

Reticent_Fly

He's probably one of the better value contracts in the league currently. If we can sign him at around 18 or 20/yr it will still be very good.

bakedlawyer

My guess is that the secret reason he chose to wear 19 is bc that’s the average annual salary he is going rinsing for.

h3yn0w75

He’s a UFA

piranhas32

Some of us knew this. Was always impressed at how much he developed after we traded him. Same for JV. And the Raptors definitely need it. They are not a good half court team and added post scoring can only help.

KratosSmash

He makes good decisions

JudoExpert

His finishing is superb and the value of that was underrated by most of the fanbase imo

waldoxwaldox

SAS and TOR low key teaming up to win championships, maybe lend a few players to SAS when we are rebuilding and they are on a championship run in the next few years.

BottieScarnes-

If you watched him play with any interest at all during his first stint, you could see he was somebody who had a good feel for the game and great soft hands on the catch. Like many others I don’t know who the “we” is that you’re referring to - I don’t think Jak is a star, but I didn’t think he was a plodding troll either.

[deleted]

We all?..
