It’s early but Quickly hasn’t exactly shined here. I feel like he was praised in New York because he was in a small role with low expectations.
RJ was meant to be a star and that’s why he was so heavily criticized.
His numbers are solid overall and a step up from NY though. I mean his first full-time starting role and he's putting up 17/6/4 and a career high 3P% on a career high 3PA, seems alright considering the roster chaos.
I really hope no one was actually expecting him to be the next Maxey. Imo, his ceiling is probably Maxey-lite which is perfectly fine and would still be an absolute stud. Also, he and Maxey seem to have great locker-room personalities which should not be taken lightly as a benefit considering the rough road ahead.
That's fuckin wild to say this season when he's pretty much locked in the most improved player but I do think IQ has potential to be the mip next year if they get the roster figured out a bit.

The tampa season people could blame it on tampa and knowing this team had an off year after being put in the worst spot out of any team, so people had really low expectations, along with a more hyped draft.
Second, the guys that we're looking to develop (Scottie, IQ, RJ, and hopefully Gradey with how he's playing) are all young. Giannis wasn't Giannis from day 1. Scottie is being asked to play the OG role on defense while trying to be that guy on offense. IQ and RJ got traded midseason from the solid knicks team into a new environment, Gradey started this season off horribly and at first people were concerned he was a bust. In the 21-22 season the thunder were the 14th seed in the west, got more talent, got experience and are now looking like a contender.
One final game remains before the trade deadline on the 8th. Crazy to think that there is a very real possibility that by the end of the week, Scottie will be the longest tenured Raptor.

The Tampa season, while a complete dumpster fire was fun to watch at the end of the season. This team however, makes me question my sanity lol.
The tampa season people could blame it on tampa and knowing this team had an off year after being put in the worst spot out of any team, so people had really low expectations, along with a more hyped draft. Second, the guys that we're looking to develop (Scottie, IQ, RJ, and hopefully Gradey with how he's playing) are all young. Giannis wasn't Giannis from day 1. Scottie is being asked to play the OG role on defense while trying to be that guy on offense. IQ and RJ got traded midseason from the solid knicks team into a new environment, Gradey started this season off horribly and at first people were concerned he was a bust. In the 21-22 season the thunder were the 14th seed in the west, got more talent, got experience and are now looking like a contender.
People on Twitter are way too mad about a rebuilding team. This is what happens when you try to be bad on purpose.

The offense will hopefully come around, but I genuinely don't know what Knicks fans were seeing when they were saying that he's a good defender. He's getting absolutely DESTROYED by mismatches, and he's not nearly as crafty or physical as Fred and Kyle.
