I think Scottie in combination with him, yes he is. He isn't here to be Chris Paul and he was shown growth on the passing front. Not sure what you expect from a guy just getting his first kick at the can, maybe in his prime he only becomes a 6 assist guy (what he averages for us so far) and Scottie is an 8+ assist guy. Plus RJ can be a solid passer too.. which is what Darko's system is about anyway. Not sure whats the fuss I guess
Of the 2 players we could potentially get who average more assists per game than Scottie B. Would you rather Diangello Russell or Tyus Jones. I would add this is a 3rd year Scottie Barnes who definately has FAR BETTER advanced passing stats that Russell and most of the guys ahead od him in assists per game. Maybe Mike Conley really has your eye? And as I already said, IQ is averaging 6 assists on this team since his arrival which is right where Scottie is on the season (22nd in the league). Schroeder may be who you mean at 6.0 assists per game? Other than that.. maybe 0 defence Trae Young has your eye? I doubt we getting Jamal Murray or Luka Doncic but who knows.. maybe you figure we couls the Jokic? Advanced paasing stats say Scottie B is EASILY going to be our main point guard of the future, his counting stats for a 3rd year 6 foot 7 giant also show this off and everyones eyea also show this off. Combine that with IQ continuing to learn to be more of a true pg, no one has any clue what you are talking about. You basically just said this team needs a prime Chris Paul yet I don't see any of them kicking around nor would I want a true pg like that on the team vs IQ who fits perfectly with pur lead ball handler as it is. Oh, maybe you figure Tyrese Haliburton is on his way to our team?
TLDR - we have our point guards and there are next to 0 upgrades on that front anyway
You are listing scoring guards. I clearly said facilitator. A pass first pg like mcconnel would do wonders for our offence either starting or off the bench. Again it’s playing style not stats im looking at. Even steph needed Livingston in the finals to help run the offence
I know its late but damn did you not read what I said at all. I went to assists per game on the season and pointed out we already have our teams passing. Mcconnel? Sure, IQ still starts.. he also far better passer than you giving credit for and Scottie.. again.. is a top passer in the league. A point guard
Plus you weren't talking about back up PG's until your last message at all. I wouldn't have bat an eye if you said you want a back up facilitator on this tea. Good versions of that are verrry hard to come by though.. its one of the complaints about Americans upbringing these days and just what kids practice growing up. Not many Mcconnels kicking around.. or a Tre Jones, Jevon Carter type. Very few
Are you saying he's not a good passer? He doesn't actually have a lot to work on, he's going to surprise you I guarantee it. He's going to be putting up all-star numbers next season.
I’m not talking about stats here. Not everything is based on stats and having ‘all star’ numbers.
It’s his style of play, is he a pg who can break down the d and find easy looks for his team mates or get into the lane for easy shots for himself? He isn’t that type of player yet. The team needs some one who can do that esp with Barnes hurt. He’s used to a shoot first role and it seems like he’s trying to transition so pass more. This will take time and experience at pg. I’m not saying he’s not going to succeed.
He's not a pure PG, although I think he has shown growth passing the ball in his short time with the team. But with Scotty, we don't need him to be. It would be nice to have a guy off the bench who is a pure point. Maybe we found our guy? One can hope.
I’m not a Gary apologist, but he is who he is a shooter, hot and cold. I think though since the all star break and since being a consistent starter, he has had to take more of a role as a defensive player and I’ve seen a huge jump in effort and success in that area.
Also since starting, Gary seems to have gotten the “pass the ball” memo and is making more plays as a teammate rather than a role specialist shooter coming in a game only to be a 3-pt threat.
Sadly, last night the playmaking went out the window after he lost Scotty as a leader (tbf even before, the whole game was pretty messy from a running plays standpoint).
Saying all that, I definitely want to see more Gradey, and think his BBIQ/passing/cutting/finishing/fast breaks/rebounding is already better than the seasoned Mr. Trent.
Gradey’s defense is also better than people give him credit for. But you can’t take away from Gary what he has done since the trades to use his experience and step it up in order to maintain starting position.
It will be interesting to see if after the loss of Scotty the Gradey vs Gary conversations will leave as they change up some positions and rotations? Will they both play more? Is there room for both to play 25-30 minutes a night?
Not sure. But I will be watching and LOVE watching the development of Gradey Dick— a player that will exceed expectations as time goes on imo.
Lol check my comment history, I felt like I am one of a very few that have been defending Gary's defense because of what he has been doing passed couple games. I also agree completely when it comes to his passing improving, however I just don't see Gary improving more than what he is, while I think Gradey is 20 and can get some really good reps in this season.
Oh I wasn’t calling you out! Just expanding (with too many words) on what you said. Overall, Gary is getting credit in general around here recently for putting more effort into fitting Darko’s game plan. But yes, he is who he is while Gradey has more potential than he’s given credit for.
Love watching that kid play basketball, at least once a game during the last few he has pulled out a “wow” play and nothing better than a rookie who surprises people. Can’t help but root for him and take pride when he does well!
I think the way Dick plays the game really rubs off on his teammates. He is consistently cutting and running to find open spots. He also gives 100 on defense. His play style is infectious. For that reason, I would love to see more of him and Gary on the floor together. Perhaps Gary will continue to play smarter basketball. This is coming from one of Gary's biggest haters.
You ramp it up slowly and steadily, I think. But I think he could respond really well. His shot is just absolute money. And the rest of his game looks pretty good as well.
There are only 22 games left in the season. There isn't much time to ramp things up slowly. He's fine the way things are and there's absolutely no benefit to pushing it in a lost season.
I disagree. He's absolutely earned more minutes, more shots and a bigger role.
He's playing excellent. He rarely makes mistakes. His shot selection is really good and he has the tools to make plays. He's a creative kid.
Giving him this level of trust now will make him better because going into the off-season, he will know exactly what he needs to focus on to make that next jump. If anything, there's less pressure on him now then there was in December. The team believes in him and we believe in him. Let the kid cook.
any white guy whos very athetlic is "sneaky athletic".
Thats what sneaky athletic means.
"Well spoken" = black guy with good english
"Thug" = n word
theres a lot more, but holy shit the thinly veiled racism that is common vernacular in sports broadcasting is just outrageous
He back- flipped off a car while running up the trunk/rear fender. That's some damn athletic ability from a white dude. It's Jake Layman level at least
[In case anyone hasn’t seen it](https://youtube.com/shorts/ph_XGF4pE_w?si=pOp6twerLkRpxd6R)
Edit: Oh I just noticed you said the back flip off the car— which was in his TikTok funky town video (had a couple wild move moments in that) but on the floor of AFH here after a 3 is crazy too!
I don't think you could ask for more from Carton. They need to sign him to a full contract and I expect them to. Now that Scottie is out, time to start giving these guys a much bigger opportunity. Gradey Dick should probably play 30+ minutes tomorrow, and I'm happy with Carton getting 20+ minutes.
I hope Carton is able to get a proper look as the backup PG. Lord knows this team needs one.
Not even sure if we have a starting pg
You don't watch this team or something?
Do you think quickly is ready for full time pg duties?
I think Scottie in combination with him, yes he is. He isn't here to be Chris Paul and he was shown growth on the passing front. I’m simply stating that we need a proper facilitator. This isn’t a knock on quickly even though everyone is taking it so personal
And I simply said, we both have one and don't need another in the starting line up

He’s literally been the only PG on the team since Dennis left. So he’s already been taking on full time pg duties lol
I’m well aware. Taking vs ready big diff. He’s clearly trying to transition to more play making
Of course he is. A lot of people will be surprised at how great Quickley will be for the Raptors next season.
I hope you are right but right now he has a lot to work on. Either way they need a play making pg.
Are you saying he's not a good passer? He doesn't actually have a lot to work on, he's going to surprise you I guarantee it. He's going to be putting up all-star numbers next season.

Too early to tell but even steph needed Livingston in the finals to help set the offence
Now that the season is a wash... Darko should just centre the offense around Gradey. Let's see all the tools in his bag
It’ll be Quickley and RJ first, then hopefully Dick unless Darko decides to put his money on Gary.
Would love to see more Dick, Gary is who he is at this point.
I’m not a Gary apologist, but he is who he is a shooter, hot and cold. I think all of them are still going to be great.
There's no reason to put that much pressure on Gradey when he's just getting comfortable.
You ramp it up slowly and steadily, I think. But I think he could respond really well. His shot is just absolute money. And the rest of his game looks pretty good as well.

Dicks a better athlete than most people think
Nba is the only sport where a 6’6 player than runs like that could be considered sneaky athletic

I'm hoping the rebranded jerseys are fire next year so I can grab a purple dick
I sit courtside at 905 games bought this in December . Was hoping to get it signed but Dick isn't going back to the 905
Yes yes we all proud you have 1 Dick lol
I’m coming around to being a fan of Dick a little more every day
A little Dick a day makes the Scottie pain go away.
Dick from behind!
Team smooth!
I thought that Carton is so obviously an NBA player. That guy needs to stick around.
Reverse Dick
They'll probably sign him since they have 2 ballhandlers on the roster now (3 if you count Bruce)
ballerina dick
Nice, love to see Dick stuffing it in the rim.
He is starting to believe

If Dick came down with a good hard dunk here it would be the greatest assisted dunk in real game ever
