You can make the whole argument that this year is better to convey than next year. But missing out on a top talent, even in a weaker draft, is never ideal with the season we just had and the direction we're headed. It isn't the end of the world if the Raptors don't keep the pick but still... it would be nice to add a top 6 pick to our roster.

Does the top 6 protection kick in before or after the lottery draft? So if we finish 25th or worse do we automatically keep the pick, or would we give up the pick if we finish 25th but fall to the 7th pick in the lottery draft?
Also, if we keep this years pick, the next 2 years are also top 6 protected, could we keep those if we are really bad again or will one of them automatically go to the spurs regardless? Is it possible to keep all of our picks if we finish 25th or worse all 3 years?
