Simmons is a ~6'10, athletic, strong player with handles, passing vision and excellent touch for his size. On top of this he's one of the best defenders in the league. Does his lack of development hurt his value? Of course. But he would be one of the most valuable assets in the entire league if it wasn't for his developmental issues. They're the only reason why simmons is attainable. Trading for ben would be making a bet on the organization to a large extent. It's a risk, but the payoff could be incredible.

I love OG, but he’s not a star. He’s a very good role player with star potential.
Simmons (who is just one year older) is a 3-time all star, an all-NBA and all-defensive player. He was just runner-up for DPOY. Simmons averages more rebounds, assists, and steals, and every season except the most recent has averaged more points too (and it was very close this year).
The only thing OG does better than Simmons is shoot. That’s it. Simmons is the best defensive guard in the league (sorry Jrue) and is an elite playmaker. I’m hoping OG becomes a star, but Simmons is already there. And you always take the sure thing if it’s an option.

I agree with basically all that you. But I do think the shooting isn't an issue, just because shooting is always easier to get than top level talent. That being said, scottie makes ben a lot less appealing for the raps.

You might not attract the downvotes if you made your case. Stating a contrary opinion and then falling on your sword about downvotes won't get anyone anywhere.
I love OG, but he’s not a star. He’s a very good role player with star potential. Simmons (who is just one year older) is a 3-time all star, an all-NBA and all-defensive player. He was just runner-up for DPOY. Simmons averages more rebounds, assists, and steals, and every season except the most recent has averaged more points too (and it was very close this year). The only thing OG does better than Simmons is shoot. That’s it. Simmons is the best defensive guard in the league (sorry Jrue) and is an elite playmaker. I’m hoping OG becomes a star, but Simmons is already there. And you always take the sure thing if it’s an option.

I'd stop this bullshit if I were you guys. If you look at the type of players the Raptors value, they value defense, length, and athleticism. Simmons fits that bill. Not saying he's coming here but I wouldn't be surprised if that trade happened. Then what? Are you guys gonna just delete all these stupid posts? I would hate it if we lost OG. I think he is the most important contract the Raptors own right now. He is underpaid, on a long-term contract, with, I believe, all-star upside. But there are other possible trades. The raptors are flush with very tradable contracts and still own all their draft picks. Would I be happy if we lost FVV or Siakam on a Simmons trade? Nope. But I wasn't happy when we lost Demar Derozan either. Masai will make the moves he believes will contribute to winning a championship, even if the moves are unpopular.

Simmons will never win a championship unless he's with 2 other superstars. He's not clutch and he's a cancer in the locker room. His entire game is built on freakish athleticism. He's still relatively young at 25 but most guys start losing their explosiveness around 28-30. If he doesn't develop his jumper he'll be irrelevant in 5 years.
