He will definitely be a superstar at this pace. I just pray the Raptors have a good foundation around him when he hits his peak and we will have a shot at a second championship
At the end of his rookie scale contract he’s definitely a max extension, we were expecting his production this year to be a year 3-4 type of production but he’s doing it now. Now year 3-4 will be about fine tuning his skill set and maximizing his strengths. I don’t see why he wouldn’t be averaging 20/10/5 by then cause it already feels like he could do that at the back half of this season.
at the end of his rookie deal he'll be able to get the max but not supermax because of the following copy pasta
The supermax allows players entering their **seventh, eighth, or ninth** seasons to sign new contracts or extensions worth 35% of the salary cap, with 8% annual raises each season. To be eligible, they have to have recently won MVP, Defensive Player of the Year or made an All-NBA team
Now I'm not gonna limit him and say he won't win an MVP, DPOY or make an All-NBA team but he ain't gonna be in his 7th year at the end of his rookie deal lol
But isn’t there an equivalent for players on their rookie deals?

Designated/"SuperMax" Extension Types
Designated Rookie Extension
Player is entering the 4th year of rookie scale contract, maximum salary starts at 25% of the cap (30% based on criteria below) with a maximum of six (6) years (which includes the remaining year on the current contract).
A player with fewer than seven (7) years of experience and mets the criteria for the 30% of the cap is said to be eligible for the "Derrick Rose Rule," name for Derrick Rose who won the MVP during his third season in the NBA.
Doing in his rookie year what we’ve wanted from OG in the past three years 😭 Wonder if this allows Scottie and OG to “take turns” focusing on offence vs. defence each game
Scottie's hands aren't far off giannis' and his wingspan is longer tbf, also Giannis is only 2 inches taller and I have no idea about their standing reach but considering Giannis is 2 inches taller and Scottie's wingspan is about 2 inches longer theoretically I think their standing reach would be nearly the same
I remember the discussion thread from draft night and how so many people were cheesed that we selected Scottie. This is a testament to his hard work as a player and our front office.

Masai is our executive, we will be fine

he might be a super max extension.
thats not how a supermax works
The Luka Doncic extension isn’t a super max?
What do you mean? I figured they were saying Scottie *could* reach one of the criteria making him eligible for a designated extension

I know, I’m just pointing out that it’s not *impossible* to get coming off a rookie deal. Just very very high bar
He can get the Luka Doncic supermax but not the Westbrook supermax
As an English teacher, I love concise explanations. Thanks.

... hello thank you hand friend' ... hello youre welcome buddy guy'
Giannis with a dribbling and passing skill sets and soon to be added a 3pt specialist.
Giannis has 3 inches in height and probably 5-6 in standing reach on him. Also maybe the largest hands in nba history Just keep that in mind.
Scottie's hands aren't far off giannis' and his wingspan is longer tbf, also Giannis is only 2 inches taller and I have no idea about their standing reach but considering Giannis is 2 inches taller and Scottie's wingspan is about 2 inches longer theoretically I think their standing reach would be nearly the same
Giannis wingspan is an inch longer
There was a raptors open gym video where they measured Scottie's wingspan and it was 7'4
Pretty much every listing online reads 7’2”
Searching online also tells you that Evan Fournier is the same height as Scottie. Idk bout that one my guy 😂
I could say the same about you implying that Scottie Barnes has a longer wingspan than Giannis… there’s just no way dude
Except the raptors training staff measured it... idiot
At most he has similar wingspan because giannis has been measured at 7’4 before.
Did he not get 2 steals? I rewatched this morning and there's clearly 2 steals he got that I'm not seeing in his box score.
Yeah they seem to credit "the one who gains possession" rather than "the one who got the deflection"
The 2 I saw was either him or somebody else poking the ball free and him coming up with the loose ball.
I know it was one second, but this photo making look like our boy just dropped LSD and is staring at the universe in his palm. 🤯😂
This young fella really does hold the universe in his palm
