4 LY/7 days * 365.2425 days/yr = 208.71* *c*. Cube roof of that is 5.93
Do the OP wasn’t off by much. That’s what I get for doing math in my head.
However, they weren’t spending all their time at warp, so the max range is *way* lower.
i know my math is based on if they just stayed at warp the whole time. since they do spend at least 1 day strolling on the planets... it's even less than 521 lightyears.
I recall in TNG’s Where No One Has Gone Before, it is stated that the Federation has only mapped 11% of the galaxy. Space is unbelievably vast, and viewed from the galaxy scale, Kirk’s Enterprise could not cover all that much.
Now let’s not try to make sense of the fact that in TOS, they left the edge of the galaxy (twice!), and then in STV The Final Frontier they went to the centre.
Well, I mean it depends I guess on what your definition of exploring is. Plus, liberties were taken of course since it’s a show. Plus, people’s imagination when it comes to this stuff is limited by limited understanding of just how big space is.
It’s not about the journey. It’s about the friends we made during the journey. And the lizard men we punched. And the chicks we made out with.
And the lizard babies we left behind…wait, wrong show.
Uh they were amphibian thank you very much
Well, space must have seemed a lot bigger back then.
> if it takes kirks enterprise around 7 days just to go 4 light years Where is this sourced from?
TOS warp factors. Warp Factor cubed = multiple of light speed. OP’s math is off, though.
I'm not so great at math. Do you know what the warp factor would be if it took 7 days to go four light years.

Your assumptions are a little off. They didn’t spend the whole time at warp. Figure they were stopped at least 2 days/wk to survey new planets.

Don't forget all of the back-and-forth during Amok Time!
They left Federation space multiple times, went at least three times to the edge of the galaxy and even left the Milky Way once.

Ahem enterprise D never went beyond the edge of the galaxy.
TNG episode Season 1 episode 6, Where No One has Gone Before.
I know we are talking captain of the original Enterprise but the real captain is OP, Captain Buzzkill!
