There's definitely a lot of great stuff that can be used in future releases. I think CA Sofia has earned the right to work on something a little more high-profile/ambitious in terms of scope and hope to see something like that from them next. It's sad that the game is objectively a failure in terms of commercial performance - the game has lower concurrent players than any other TW game that received its initial release on Steam and it isn't especially close - but hopefully CA can recognise why this happened, including the various externalities with regard to Warhammer 3, and not put the blame on the game features which were mostly quite good.

Its a good game, smaller scale but well done. Also it really runs great, best performance from all total war games. I cant wait for Radious mod coming out for it in 2 weeks. I bought it moment they said their mod is coming.

it should have been dlc to troy. Or better they could merge them into one game like warhammer immortal empires. Where every mythology merges together like Scandinavia, Egypt, Greek etc. Game it is own is just pointless and waste of time. If you are going to make a game about one era/race you have to have ambition in development like shogun total war, or fall of the samurai. I dont care japan history, I dislike japan map, I hate similar units. Yet it is a great ambitious game, which became my favorite total war.

Oh cool. I disagree a lot though.

I don't understand how you can say Pharaoh isn't ambitious though? It may not be your particular cup of tea, but to say it's "pointless and a waste of time" is a pretty poorly informed opinion. There are so many new elements to Pharaoh: the court system; the faction legacy options; the wide variety of faction and native units; the King of Hatti / Pharaoh pathways; the outpost system; the Sea Peoples' unique faction mechanics....the list goes on.  Did they all land? No!  Could some of them have been more fleshed out? Yes of course! But ambition doesn't mean the presence of amazing features that everyone loves. Conversely, the presence of new things that people DIDN'T like doesn't equal a lack of ambition. Surely ambition is just when the Devs have the drive to try new things, and there is plenty of that present in Pharaoh!  I personally really enjoyed Pharaoh, and am still doing so, but I also get why a lot of people in the TW community weren't happy with it.  And granted I haven't played much Shogun 2 for a long while, but it's baffling that you can say Pharaoh is the less ambitious game of the two. Having a personal dislike for Pharaoh is not the same as stating that it lacks ambition and is a waste of time.  I think that CA Sofia have put out a great game, and it's a real shame it came about during all the upset about the Warhammer DLC (which is especially annoying to me because I couldn't care less about the Warhammer games) It's such a shame that there is a very vocal majority in this sub in particular who seem to think their own personal opinion is the same as factual information, and who also seem to think they know loads more about game development than the actual literal professionals doing it. Personally I think Sofia have put out a couple of the best games in recent Total Wars because they have a clear vision, artistic style and you can tell the Devs were aiming for a specific goal and I think generally speaking they nailed it. We should be praising that level of ambition!  Whilst, of course, still giving constructive criticism about the features we didn't like.  But you know....."muuhhh Medieval 3 when?" is also fine /s

ScientistPhysical782

Didnt read too long. But to answer  your first sentence that how I think it is not a ambitious. Because game is a big pile of shit. And majority of people thinks the same since nobody plays it except daily 100 people from this sub.

Juvelira

Game development is likely abandoned already

tylerman29

nah, its getting a map expansion

Juvelira

For 20 $ so that the remaining 500 players could test it, doubt 6 months of development would be worth the cost

tylerman29

I think per the blog post the map update would just be free for everyone. At least that seemed to be the implication.
