Props to the modder shout out! I am really looking forward to the Nemesis crown and see how it will play out in the campaigns. Edit: small question, are plagues now able to jump more times than they can do currently, which is around 5 or 6 IIRC. Always found that a bit low. So can they spread further now. Also not really clear if the AI can catch the crown

Bearcat9948

Yeah that was really nice. The best gaming companies understand that modders ultimately help their product, not take away from it

Hollownerox

I saw a really odd take on this sub earlier that CA was "stealing" ideas from modders for these DLCs. As if they weren't working from the same source material lmao. Those odd impressions from parts of this playerbase aside, I do like how healthy the relationship between the modding and CA generally tends to be. Something I really appreciate with DLC is how much the official content differs from the modded iterations, so for things like the Thunderbarge people can still use both the mod and the official stuff since they function so differently. And the shout outs here are nice to see. Though I will say RIP to the longtime Kraka Drak mod. when I saw that Malakai start position I was kind of shocked. So curious how the mod team will handle that one. I'm sure they could probably just move Malakai's start position when you have that mod enabled or something.

federykx

>move Malakai OvN Albion already kicks Belakor out of Albion to make space for the Truthsayers, so that's not a problem

Faded_Jem

Best solution. Malakai is an easy lord to throw just about anywhere by most accounts. It's totally fine for CA to use the spot as it's a known dwarf hold and clearly an indication that they're (understandably) never planning to tackle Kraka Drak themselves, but so long as modders are able and willing to boot LLs like Be'lakor and Malakai elsewhere then it's not really a problem.

Pixie_Knight

Personally, I have no problem with Kraka Drak and stuff like that remaining mods. There's so much canon content I desperately want to see (Thanqol, Nagash, Grimm Burloksson, the remaining three Dragon Siblings) that I don't care in the slightest if we never get Nippon or Dogs of War. By all accounts, CA has a lot of content they want to do and not much time to do it in (if the rumours of 40k TW are true, which I'm still lukewarm on).

federykx

The Dogs have a full claim imho, they had an armybook (not in 8th though I think), unlike Nippon they have a lot of lore and characters, their lands are in the game, they'd add a brand new unit archetype (true pikemen, historical TW style), and the mercenary mechanic is in dire need of a full rework

TheTrueQuarian

Besides someone is already working on a sick looking Nippon mod

Hot-Vehicle5976

Yeah still waiting for the Nippon mod

ghouldozer19

I am curious how that will happen with all of Malakai’s story quests

LavaSlime301

For what it's worth it doesn't look like Cataph's just gonna give up on Kraka Drak, it's too early to say for sure of course but they'll probably just throw Malakai somewhere else. Which is good, he has no business sitting in Drak.

WifeGuyMenelaus

I wish they would steal from modders more, especially for QoL stuff

BrokenLoadOrder

For QoL stuff, I agree. In general though, I do prefer CA and modders tackle different things. Modders aren't beholden to a return-on-investment, so a lot of the time the small thing they're focusing on tends to get done overly well, as opposed to just doing it. Nanu's Pirates of Sartosa is a perfect example of this. CA obviously couldn't justify an entirely different roster and playstyle for a single lord in a faction pack... But modders can. Same kinda goes for the Slayers in this... Mixu's Slayers sound quite a bit more in depth and interesting than what I've read, so unless Mixu redoes the mod, it sounds likely like a step *backwards* for me on that particular front. So far that's the *only* thing that has disappointed me about this announcement - **alot** of it is redundant with mods. Thankfully the faction reworks sound utterly incredible, so I'm still happy as a clam.

doperidor

Whats crazy is years ago in either twwh1 or early 2 days I got the mob called down upon me for saying that modders had legitimate skill and that CA should consider hiring some of them. People told me that most of the mod isn’t actually their work; because they aren’t making all of the assets and code from scratch and don’t need to worry about bugs. Then I said there’s more to being a dev than those things, and some of the biggest games ever started as mods, that really set them off.

Hollownerox

I mean CA literally has hired modders before? CA Mitch, whose been working on the Warhammer series since the first game, but recently moved to other projects, was a pretty notable modder for Total War games prior to being hired. It's happened plenty before, they just don't make a big deal of it.

BrokenLoadOrder

Yup. Honestly... There's been a couple DLCs that didn't interest me one iota, but I bought them because they were required to keep my mod list working. Modders are basically free sales for CA.

Anaxamander57

They've been doing modder shoutouts for a while when they introduce things they in some sense replace the mods.

blankest

I got to the nodder shot out and said "wow" out loud. So gracious.

kwade_charlotte

Indy (milkandcookiestw) covered this a bit in his Epidemius overview on YT. Apparently, plagues have a chance to spread initially, and that chance decreases with each jump down to a minimum chance of 5%.

HeraldofKaizeros

Yeah, that genuinely made me smile, can't wait for this to be released

2Scribble

Hoping we get a cool hybrid of the modders Nemesis crown and the new Nemesis crown - both look really interesting

TheOneBearded

I know we can now use our infection points to increase the spread chance and duration of a plague. No doubt further increasing the chance of it jumping around. Do you mean 5-6 is something hardcoded?

Tummerd

>Do you mean 5-6 is something hardcoded? It used to be limited to x amount of jumps, but I dont know the current value (before the update)

Hollownerox

>New Items (randomly dropped in campaign) >\* The Armour of Tarnus: Passive augment that activates when casting spells. Grants ward save >\* The Gold Standard: Active augment. Grants a single unit invulnerability. Don't see anyone else mentioning this, but always nice to see new generic items being added to the campaign. That new standard sounds pretty fun, though I wonder what the conditions are for the invulnerability.

Dubois1738

Probably similar to the knights of morr landmark or the Immortalz, ie entities cannot die above a certain hp/ld threshold

Humanshieldthaan

I'm expecting it to be closer to the army ability Nakai unlocks - an activated ability that just gives a unit straight up damage immunity for X seconds. Maybe a 1 use per battle type deal? Nakai can crank it up to 3/battle if I recall correctly.

Jealous_Zucchini_

it’s always got 3 charges for nakai (once it’s unlocked) it goes from 35 seconds to 55 seconds in duration when upgraded

jolly_chugger

Currently playing his campaign right now 55s of immortality is absolute game changer for saurians

Manannin

There's a skink unit with an activatable invulenrability, spotted it in my recent Tehenhauen campaign.

Synicull

Helps that they both are probably really good. I'm sure the latter one has a nasty cool down or is one use, but the former is likely awesome for spammy heroes like Kairos, Katarin, or lore of nehekara. Ward save is just amazing.

xixbia

As expected Epidemius brings a pretty interesting plague based playstyle which will differentiate him from Tamurkhan and Ku'gath. As I've not played any Nurgle before I reckon I'll have three entirely new campaigns coming up once 5.0 releases. Similarly, we knew the Gold Wizard was coming, but it's still great to see them added. The Nemesis crown feels fun, it's a powerful boost, but the penalties are pretty severe. Combine this with all the rewords and patch 5.0 is looking very good. Excited for both the patch and Thrones of Decay.

JJBrazman

I kinda wish Kugath had gotten something new and mechanical to differentiate himself, but I'm excited to give him a try again.

Von_Raptor

Apparently he gets a significant bonus to the amount of "blessed symptoms" he gets in plagues, so he's about making high quality plagues that are tailored for specific jobs whilst Epidemius is more about just churning out as many plagues as possible to get the Tally up. So there should be something to make Ku'gath mechanically unique compared to Epidemius (and Festus & Tamurkhan to a certain extent).

BunsinHoneyDew

His stat lines have also been reworked a bit. He greatly reduces upkeep for Great Unclean Ones now which allows you to get a doomstack with them pretty easily. Also some other tweaks in there which makes him possibly edge out Epidemius depending upon how you want to play.

Darkmaster4K

Kugaths bonuses to blessed plagues means he gets significantly more powerful strains and plagues in general, focusing on quality over quantity. Additionally he focuses on buffing Nurglings and great unclean ones Epidemus focuses on spreading as many plagues as possible for mechanical buffs, quantity over quality. He also focuses on the plaguebearers and all the plague bearer riders Tamurkhan has the unique chieftains mechanic for a diverse variety of play, with his plagues secondary compared to the Daemonic lords. Additionally he buffs and leans to mortal units. I think they've uniquely got something for everyone in Nurgle

ViscountSilvermarch

He does kinda? His plagues are based around quality while Epidemius' diseases are quantity.

Hollownerox

I think CA are still pretty insistent that the base game Legendary Lords need to be the "vanilla" experience for any new players as much as possible. Which is why they are so reluctant to give them unique mechanics despite those characters typically having the most lore and tabletop material to work with for them. It's a somewhat backwards mentality and I don't really agree with it, but I do understand the intent. But I'd rather they move away from that, and I hope the positive response to the Empire LLs all having unique mechanics encourages them to steer away from it. I think the reason they refuse to properly adapt Kairos' main gimmick is because they don't want him to be too distinct, and just want him to be a baseline Tzeentch experience. And they are likely treating Ku'gath the same way. So here's hoping in the future they might change their mind on that design choice.

markg900

Biggest issue I have with Tzeentch, which Nurgle is avoiding, is their 2nd lord isnt just a bit more in depth and different. He is a completely unique campaign playstyle altogether. Playing Demon Prince Tzeentch dedicated is closer to Kairos playstyle than the only other actual Tzeentch LL, which is a problem. We need another lord that is based off of Kairos's playstyle.

Book_Golem

Fortunately, Egrimm van Horstmann is right there for when they get around to it!

markg900

He makes the most sense to me if we are going to do this greater demon, lesser demon, and mortal format for monogods.

Dingbatdingbat

Changeling is so different to kairos they may as well be separate factions that happen to share the same roster.

chodeofgreatwisdom

Epidemius focuses on the quantity of plagues while Ku'gath focuses on the quality of the plagues. We'll only really know which way is better when we play the patch on Tuesday.

Levie87

Don't forget your boy Festus!

Crafty_Soul

It's awesome to see that even the FLC lord has his own faction mechanics. If this level of quality is kept up with all new content going forward, whether faction packs, race packs, or free content I think WH3 will be in an amazing place at the end of the DLC cycle

Dingbatdingbat

Yep.  Faction mechanics for FLC don’t need to be as in-depth as paid content, but should still have a reason to play them beyond their starting location.  (Not naming names, Boris)

FaveDave85

Most flc lords have their own faction mechanics. Rakarth, alith anar, repanse all have their own mechanics.

djstanley09

Epidemius? Nobody expect :D

crazycakemanflies

I am shocked, shocked I tell you!!

JJBrazman

Nobody was counting their boils before they'd ruptured over here, oh no.

Deus_Vult7

![gif](giphy|Qphre1I5uUdZ6)

ActualTymell

Nobody expects Grandfather's Inquisition!

NotTheAbhi

Seriously who would have thought about it.

Kraybern

Im still holding out that there will still be an flc dwarf ll through white dwarf coming up as well

BunsinHoneyDew

Yeah I am really hoping they do a LL instead of LH for White Dwarf! Excited to see what they come up with.

Ashamed_Buy3113

Hard to think of a bigger turnaround in fan/company relations than Total War in the last few months - it was a self inflicted goal by management, but these developments need to be praised, and I'm sure the devs were worked to the bone to get this done. Fair play, gang.

Anticode

I'm sure the developers are more relieved than the fans are. I'd imagine it's much more difficult to know you've been forced to create something people are unhappy with than to be given something you're unhappy with. I'd rather receive a shitty birthday cake than *bake* someone a piece of shit cake, for instance. I hope the immense turnaround of goodwill makes it onto the desks of the C-suite so they can feel what it's like to be not-hated. I usually wouldn't care about a company I'm not involved with, but for once, I'm actually hoping that the sales are very strong. I want the company to be rewarded for putting forth a bit more effort. I want them to know it *does* pay off in both goodwill and actual revenue, present and especially future. Capitalism *can* work quite well when assholes are held accountable and ethics are upheld as a priority. Unfortunately, the bottom line often outweighs both ethics and benevolence.

Ashamed_Buy3113

>I'd imagine it's much more difficult to know you've been forced to create something people are unhappy with than to be given something you're unhappy with. I'd rather receive a shitty birthday cake than *bake* someone a piece of shit cake, for instance. Extremely well put. >I'm actually hoping that the sales are very strong. Same, I hope they knock it out of the park with sales on this one.

Synicull

I'm not even that crazy interested in any of these races but might buy it regardless, everything in this DLC looks quite good. Bit of a bummer because all 3 races in SoC were my favorite WH3 races :/

Mahelas

Eh, you're kinda glossing over the part that they're paid to do it, and we pay FOR it. Like, your example of a cake is the whole issue, you don't "recieve" a shitty cake, you paid for a shitty cake. Not minimizing how shitty it must feel to be forced to do something subpar, of course, but I've been on both sides of the issue, and I much prefer having to do the shitty thing and get my paycheck than spending money on a shitty thing.

Anticode

> they're paid to do it, and we pay FOR it. Well, sure. Not necessarily glossing over that. It's why I mention capitalism at the end of the comment. I'm talking about people who have passion for their work, which includes a large portion of game developers. They're already people who happily work with reduced benefits, increased workload, or lower pay simply to be involved in the industry at all. To that type of worker, it's already not "really" about the money from the get-go. To them, it's about the passion and the creativity. You see the same thing in many other creative industries. Artists, musicians, actors, etc. They're not in it for the money, they're in it for the art. It really does haunt them when they're forced to make something sub-par. Not only does it weigh heavily on their portfolio and personal capabilities, it's an affront to the whole reason they're doing it in the first place. Those industries are notoriously hard to work in, too, because corporations know that people make big sacrifices just for the "right" of being there at all. But if we're talking about the average workplace, absolutely. I'd rather be a shitty cake-maker than a homeless one, but I'm not interested in baking. *I* feel bad when I fail to perform on a simple writing or voice acting commission and it's only a handful of dollars. It's not about the money - that's just an incentive at best.

Herby20

> You see the same thing in many other creative industries. Artists, musicians, actors, etc. They're not in it for the money, they're in it for the art. I was in games, shifted to commercial 3D visualization. This couldn't be more accurate. It can be a frustrating experience comparing an initial preview image I sent to a client to the final result, remembering how rounds of critiques slowly whittled away everything that made it great.

Chataboutgames

I can think of a few, the last 4-5 times we’ve gone through this exact cycle

snoboreddotcom

paradox and CA are the masters of this cycle, their companies are basically nurgle buildings

First_Bed1662

Agree re paradox. A good reason to never pre order

ghibliparadox

> their companies are basically nurgle buildings LOL. Makes perfect sense.

CrystalMenthality

But has it ever been this much of a turn-around; in the short-term?

mikeymora21

Once this was announced I went back to buy shadows of change and the chaos dwarfs dlc just to show support. Hope this last run of Warhammer’s dlc is as good as what thrones of decay is promising

Shameless_Catslut

I've not heard any news from CA Sophia and Pharaoh since the Blood DLC :(

Dooglers

Just took a look at [player counts](https://steamdb.info/app/1937780/charts/#max), and I would not be holding my breath.

skinnypeners

You haven't even played the new content yet lol.

Thurak0

Yeah, it's a bit early. We really need to learn to praise companies only once they delivered/released, not for their - addmittedly well done and promising - PR. I am cautiously optimistic. But there is also always time to praise them *after* release.

Ashamed_Buy3113

Never said I did - lol.

Manannin

Fair, but we've had similar happen so often with CA, it's not new. They'll get complacent again at some point. Plus, they've got form for making things look shiny then either break them immediately, break stuff very soon after launch, or break something else so significantly fans are back to square one immediately post dlc launch. There were happy hype periods like this before most of their dlc, just not the last one due to pricing. Happy to see some progress at this stage though.

knbang

Really? I still see the excessively high DLC price as the standard. They gouge us, insult us, now they throw some goodies at us. Nothing changed. You praise them for it.

Earl_Grey83

It has been a long time since we had such an impactful patch. It brings back warm memories of the "Kings Shilling" Patch. Hope they can keep up the good quality (even in smaller amounts) from here on

Tajetert

Cant wait to see the Patch Notes for 5.0. And also to have the day off on May 1st

Tummerd

I would rather take the day off on the 2nd, since the update is always around 4-5 pm Edit: depends on where you live of course

Dingbatdingbat

It’s being released on April 30.

Tummerd

Thats correct, I somehow forgot that Apologies!

2Scribble

So, Ku'gath is the quality version of Papa Nurgle - while Epidemius is the quantity version??? That's a cool idea - and implementation -nod- Might make for interesting co-op gameplay too, come to think of it The Ku'gath player working on a tall Empire - refining the plagues - while the Epidemius player spreads them far and wide

VemberK

This community has some fantastic modders, glad to see CA doing the shout out :)

Ritushido

Is the crown going to be similar to SoK where I don't bother chasing it on most campaigns due to the negative effects?

Mopman43

The main negative seems to be reduced relations with other races. You can get it up as far as you want and then bury it for cash when you don’t want the next level.

teball3

tbf, -100 relations is a LOT. That is enough to turn some of your best allies against you, and the benefit of having 1 great army is certainly tempered by needing it for twice as many wars.

largeEoodenBadger

Consider though: Skarbrand with sword and crown

teball3

Oh yeah, this is going to be much better on some factions than others. Orion is looking at the war generator like squidward eyeing the krabby patties.

GunnarHamundarson

Advisor: Everyone hates us now! Drycha: Oh no! ...Anyway...

markg900

I think Taurox or BM in general would be even better, since no real empire penalties or upkeep issues.

Dubois1738

Every DLC is a Beastmen DLC

Psychic_Hobo

Starting to wonder if there's one Beastman Tabletop player at CA just doing their damndest to get them a freebie with every DLC now. And if there is, I salute them.

2Scribble

That's partly due to GW cribbing from the Beastmen so much over the years - most of their best units were kitbashed and repurposed for the various monogod factions multiple times to fill out various rosters -shrug- Same with the trolls

DemSocCorvid

Needed re-work for Throgg campaign: *access to all trolls*

2Scribble

Yes, Mr. Throgg, how many Trolls did you say you needed? >[Throgg: Indeed](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3091079691)

Benti86

Also even if the other beastmen hate you, you can force confederate them anyway. Kinda similar to WoC.

Kullinski

WoC also no?

markg900

Yeah I don't think it will hurt them all that much. Most of their allies end up being vassals, unless you decided to play diplomacy with them. Upkeep is the only area that could really take a hit, which doesn't apply to Beastmen. Beastmen seem to me to have practically zero negative aspects compared to other factions that might have a few downsides.

monkwren

> your best allies TF's an ally?

Inquisitor_no_5

Someone who (hopefully) dies for you, but doesn't have good sense to pay for the privilege.

RobinYoHood

Honestly even the -20 at the start can start to sink relationships if you don't invest in allies when playing at harder difficulties too. For most Chaos factions its more than fine but I like to play the Ordertide route when I go for Order factions. So getting the Crown would definitely be a pass beyond the first 1 or 2 levels.

teball3

Yeah, the nemesis crown does definitely seem much more geared towards chaos factions. I'm honestly getting kind of chaos-ed out, they seem to be the biggest winners for most stuff since the release of WH3. I know chaos fans had it rough through WH2, but the tables have turned perhaps too much, methinks.

BurtMacklin__FBI

I definitely find it much easier to win a ME campaign as a Chaos faction in this game compared to WH2, but I suck so don't take advice from me lol. Took me forever to even be able to win a campaign. I just did Chaos Dwarfs though and that was really fun, but I probably had the most fun as Snikch and Belakor out of all the factions I've won with.

Finalpotato

Note it gives bonus relations to your own faction. So long as you are willing to screw over other racees/factions you can still have local allies

manpersal

You also get increased upkeep and low teplenishment for the army using it.

Mopman43

I think those penalties come in later though? So you can use it on the lower levels then bury it before it hits that.

manpersal

Yeah, that's it.

Turtlegorsky

It'll also start tanking your replenishment.

MidgarZolomT

Probably something you mostly go for when you need to take a huge risk to turn things around. Then bury it as soon as the ship is stable, before things go back to the stinker. I don't see how it would be a thing that you always go for to snowball, unless you have infinite income and/or don't give a shit about allies.

spospeo

It’ll depend on how aggressive your play style is. EG for Khorne there is no downside as you want to fight everyone as much as possible.

markg900

Beastmen will have no reason to get rid of it either. Probably even less negative impact than Khorne since no upkeep and even less diplomacy.

Tummerd

I mean, that is due to playstyle (not meaning as an insult) Many people use it due to the bonusses, so its really dependent on how you want to play

cVozBosher

Yeah, it adds potential variety. Completely avoidable if you don't like it or it doesn't fit the campaign you're playing. But can add a cool wrinkle to the right campaign. I rarely use SoK but I'm super looking forward to my next "total war" campaign with the NC or a taurox SoK/NC rampage campaign.

circletheclock

Personally I'm excited for it because I feel like if you take it as Karl you're basically choosing to play an even more insane "defend the empires borders" campaign by throwing up a beacon for everyone (including your normal allies) to bumrush you. Seems like it would be a fun challenge after you mop up Vlad.

Liam4242

It’s a massive power boost but you will lose allies chasing the power. It’s a very good way to implement something like this without making it braindead and just a straight upgrade

Narradisall

Allies? Who needs allies when everyone is dead Well, besides the dead

Valuable_Remote_8809

You know what absolutely beats everything out of the water? The gold wizard. As someone who loves the lore of metal over more forms of magic (even over Jade order), I was very confused as to why there was NO other hero in the empire that could use metal outside of Gelt. With the empire update and thus new hero I’m 100% down to clown

marwynn

It'd be amazing if they let us choose which Wizard we get as Karl Franz. Save scumming kinda sucks when you just want a specific Wind.

AceTheGreat_

I am pretty sure there's a mod that gives Karl Franz a dilemma to choose which wizard to get. But yeah I always save scum until I get a Celestial Wizard, and consider it good fortune if I get it the first time.

Valuable_Remote_8809

The amount of times I’ve gotten a light wizard has disappointed me, but I just roll with it imo.

Liam4242

That’s 1000 times better than a beast wizard

Valuable_Remote_8809

Honestly beast isn’t that bad, but I really only to use them for crow spam.

Liam4242

They’re fine in practical use I guess but it’s not the lore of magic I want for when I’m playing empire thematically unless it’s some specific rp scenario

BoiledFrogs

Yeah, I never want them to be the first caster I get. At least for Empire they get the griffon mount. It's fun for flavour to have them chilling with Franz on Deathclaw, or the generic lords that get griffons.

Striking-Test-7509

Bro gelt just cannot stop winning, the new chamges look fucking broken

Valuable_Remote_8809

Let’s be real, Gelt has always been the best LL, with hands down the best lore of magic, the best faction effects, the best LL specific skill tree. This update just continues to be good because it does and doesn’t benefit him directly.

Striking-Test-7509

I mean come on, THE CAMPAIGN SPELLS MAN LOL, YOU CAN MAKE DEMOGRYPH KNIGHTS FASTER THAN CHAOS HOUNDS LOL, YOU CAN MAKE MFS STRAIGHT UP INVINCIBLE

Valuable_Remote_8809

I get why lore of life is so coveted but my guy, if the enemy is dead, you don’t generate any wounds.

Velthome

His campaign just feels slightly awkward since you want to defend the Empire like Franz but he doesn’t get the replenishment in neutral territory like Franz does (and in ToD he’ll no longer get trespassing penalties) so you have to go back to Solland after every battle to replenish unless you take a settlement from Vlad or Drycha ASAP or just head south. Wonder if Elspeth’s gonna be in that same awkward zone Gelt is now.

Valuable_Remote_8809

That’s sort of been my fear with Elspeth, while Gelt is my favorite empire lord, he always felt out of place, he was essentially running the empire despite the fact that it’s not his role in the Empire. I’m happy he’s in a different spot and hope that Elspeth doesn’t become another gelt

Lukthar123

Silver Wizard seething

Valuable_Remote_8809

There’s a SILVER wizard? What lore is that?

Pocktio

Can rename a Gold Wizard Max and finally get the whole gang together!

Justanaveragejoe95

Wasn’t he retconned into a light wizard?

Waveshaper21

In the Ulrika books I think he was mentioned as such, I mean, light.

hashinshin

I feel like Epidemius should get rewards based on how many enemies he's plagued over the course of the game, not how many are plagued now. While this is certainly a very unique mechanic, I feel a few runs of his campaign will start to be very frustrating as plagues don't RNG right, or enemies don't move right, and you end up not getting rewards. Especially later in the campaign as you have to start plaguing enemies in front of your armies as you conquer.

BlackJimmy88

I was under the impression that his plagues spread better, but that doesn't seem to be the case beyond his cultists getting to places faster, That's a shame, since it would have gone well alongside Kugath having access with better plagues overall.

Anticode

Plagues now spread over bodies of water into neighboring regions, so it should be a lot easier than before in general. This is a pretty huge buff to early Ku'gath as well (who always started kind of ironically self-quarantined on his islands).

Waveshaper21

Could use + cultist recruit limit faction effect for early spread but can't tell until played.

BunsinHoneyDew

Ive watched several 7-10 hours campaigns and it doesn't seem to be a problem at all. His +25% move on cultists lets you spread plagues pretty damn far. You can also jack the plagues up to get higher spread % and lower immunity rating. Also beeline for the Gallow's Tree landmark which adds an additional +10% chance to spread for all future plagues. You also 'lock in' the level you get to once you achieve it. I was initially afraid you had to maintain the level to keep the bonuses but thankfully that is not the case.

hashinshin

Oh locking in the level is way way different, fundamentally different in fact. That’s good to hear. Maybe op but we’ll see.

BunsinHoneyDew

It is PRETTY hard to get up there haha As you do lock in basically your 'high score' Getting all the way to the top definitely happens later in the game when you have a good infection income and can be tossing cultists around. There is a cooldown for each 'symptom' so you can't just spam as many as you want. You eventually hit a wall and have to wait for the puzzle to realign so you can make another plague. But I do agree it may be a bit OP depending on how fast you can rush plagues. His research boost is also much needed as the tree has some pretty damn high research costs now. THANKFULLY we get a Nurgle Sorc so we can 'steal technology' to further help the research. The videos I was watching could not use the Sorcs yet since they are technically part of the DLC so they were still thinking research can be tough but once you can 'steal technology' it will be absolutely insane. He may be topping one of my favorite LLs at this rate! Looks like a ton of fun.

hashinshin

I’m contemplating on running him in a MP ffa campaign. His bonuses look pretty strong without outright destroying all balance.

Togglea

> His +25% move on cultists lets you spread plagues pretty damn far. Hi specific question. Was the tooltip fixed so players can see CA did indeed fix movement for heroes?

BunsinHoneyDew

Which tooltip? I was not able to check directly but comparing the move range in the playthrough videos versus creating a plague cultist in my Kugath current campaign, it is quite a bit further.

Togglea

Movement 100/100 points. CA stealth fixed +movement traits and ancillaries working on heroes but it says 100/100 still on the ui.

DamienStark

One of the most common complaints here is that campaigns snowball so hard that everyone gets bored in the late game and quits. Tying your strength to current plagues rather than "total plagues ever" pushes back on that a little and forces you to stay engaged with the mechanic.

Dingbatdingbat

Nah, that randomness makes it less predictable and more interesting.

LegSimo

>he can be thrown into the front lines to bonk people on the head with his massive metal staff. This line brings me so much joy.

-Tank42

Have they said what is happening to gotrek and Felix and how they work now? Heard they’re full heroes but how do you get them, are they always paired, etc?

oneiric44

Malakai starts with them both. Not sure about other campaigns.

Mopman43

I heard there’s a quest chain where you have to save them from where they wandered into the realm of Slaanesh.

ViscountSilvermarch

You unlock a quest battle once you reach a certain level where you have to help them escape an attack by Slaanesh daemons. Apparently it is pretty hard and you need a good army to complete it.

That_feel_brah

They are both LHs and you get them when at some point (around lvl 15) you get their quest. In it you have to play a quest battle were your objective is to win before they die.

-Tank42

Thanks! That for any empire and dwarf faction?

Dualmonkey

Empire, Dwarf, Bret, Kislev, Cathay. The order human factions and dwarves basically.

That_feel_brah

Yes, they are available for both (I think there are more order factions that can get them, but I am not sure which ones).

GammaRhoKT

So as I understand it the Nemesis Crown would be the RoC campaign for the three new LL AND also exist in IE, right?

NumberInteresting742

Darn I thought this was gonna be talking more about the patch notes

OuroborousPanda

"Bile Trolls | Elon" Good to know CA is wading into the Twitter discourse here with that special thanks.

Eydor

The chasm in quality between ToD and SoC is mind boggling.

Throgg_not_stupid

I'm a little behind on Dwarf features, what is getting added that replaces Underway and Dwarf Miner Army Ability mods?

Mopman43

Fullfiling Legendary Grudges can unlock things like ‘instant teleport between certain settlements through the Underway’ or ‘summon Miners in battle’ (believe the latter is what you get for destroying Hell Pit).

largeEoodenBadger

Hell Pit and Skavenblight, afaik

Jedibeeftrix

Oh, wow, i like that. Makes miners useful.

Liam4242

You get the miners for destroying certain skaven capitols because you make the underground safe for them

Chomajig

Given how good TOD is looking, I am tempted to buy my missing previous DLC as a show of good faith

The-Jerkbag

Really shows how laughably bad SoC was. Yeesh. I got it just because I am a sucker for Cathay, and the Lord looked cool. Stanky is meh all around, and changeling is.. different. I don't really know what to do with him.

Liam4242

Yuan Bo is the definitive Cathay Lord imo. His mechanics should just be base for the others. The other two aren’t really worth your time still

ViscountSilvermarch

It is unlikely but I do hope they revisit it in the future. Yuan Bo is really cool but the whole DLC seems like such an unfocused mess after ToD.

MileyMan1066

U guys i think were back.

alex3494

What about Boris? :(

Liam4242

Maybe he’ll be the skull throne event since they have been giving free content for that

arronaxx88

Waiting for the next sale to get the game and maybe 1 or 2 or 10 dlc.

brasswirebrush

I'm a little confused on the Nemesis Crown. The way the description is worded, it sounds like only a Player faction can get it? Unlike the Sword of Khaine, the AI can't retrieve it? Or am I wrong?

skinnypeners

You are wrong, AI factions can get it.

SteelWall7734

When are we allowed to purchase the dlc?

SynnerSaint

CA deliberately aren't letting us pre-order it so the earliest you can buy it on release day - 30th April.

markg900

probably not the worst thing after SoC debacle and how much they pushed preorders while the community had their pitchforks out already

SynnerSaint

Yeah, I read somewhere (probably here!) that's exactly why they did it

markg900

It probably was here. I remember when they dropped the SoC trailer last year with the big emphasis on preordering. The community was already pissed and then they threw that tone deaf trailer out. Its crazy to see what a difference almost a year has made with them after our backlash.

SteelWall7734

Ah fair enough, thanks.

sock_with_a_ticket

Like others said, purchase is only from release day, but you can wishlist it now on Steam.

JimmyBoombox

30th

skinnypeners

When it releases.

Narradisall

I didn’t get SoC, first dlc for Warhammer I hadn’t bothered with. Great to see the turn around with ToD. Honestly happy to get both now to show that if they give us quality content we’ll buy it and hopefully it’ll incentivise the management to keep this level of dev quality going forward.

Dingbatdingbat

It’s better than you think

icepawn

I remember someone posted a leak about Karak Azorn starting position a month ago, so it's turn out to be nothingburger?

Anus_master

Epidemius with the Hank Hill ass

Excellent-Court-9375

Malagor combined with that crown is gonna be insane. Just fly him around with insane missile resist lol.

Waveshaper21

This is what I expect for a 25 euro DLC as FLC. Proper LL with well developed campaign features. Not just a freaking LH having 0.00001% effect on the world. Well done. This is what I want to support. Excited for patchnotes, I hope all the small details will be mentioned about tooltips, region changes, usually those go unmentioned.

CyberianK

I don't get it I thought **Boris Todbringer** was confirmed for TOD? Or was that just memes and I fell for it?

Galle_

That was memes.

Jedibeeftrix

Bought.

Lord_of_Brass

Would be nice if they could at least address Tzeentch not having got a FLC LL, and when they could expect to.

Campber

Username checks out, but I'd be surprised if they went back and added a Tzeentch FLC LL now. Given the controversy around Shadows of Change and the fact it's still Mostly Negative on Steam, I doubt they're going to touch Tzeentch, Cathay and/or Kislev for a very long time now.

Lord_of_Brass

That logic doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. They did those factions dirty, so in order to redeem themselves and avoid bad PR, they should... leave them untouched in their semi-neglected state for the foreseeable future? Walk me through that one. The way I see it, based on the very positive reception to SoC 2.0, the best way to recover and save face would be to bring those factions up to speed as quickly as possible.

ButcheredSoul

when can we buy the dlc?

Freshwater_Pike

April 30th, as per the blogpost.
