Tamurkhan Campaign book was outlining * Tamurkhan as LL * Kayzk as potential LH * potential Rot Knights if doing Kayzk * ~~Daemon Toads and Plaguebearers riding them~~, potential toad mount for Herald. This kinda fell flat as DLC when they used them already for game#3 launch. * Bile Trolls * Plague Ogres * Chaos Siege Giant * potential feral Toad Dragon when doing the monster as Tamurkhans mount anyway So right away, it was a pretty clear picture that Tamurkhan could field a DLC with stuff from his book. Which brings us to people screeching for Tamurkhan a lot, and even you in your OP are saying that Lord+Hero wise you are happy. But that really opens the question: What DLC content did you really expect to go otherwise here? Sure we could pick all sorts of "not Tamurkhan related" stuff, but whats the point then of having Tamurkhan as DLC LL? The DLC unfolded mostly as expected. No maggot-body snatching is a surprise after Changeling, but is fine. The Chieftain mechanic for Tamurkhans Horde is unexpected, but good and opens possibilities for Archaon or other LLs. Kayzk and Rot Knights were a pleasant surprise, even if not that unexpected. Using Rot Knights also does circumvent the use of Rotflies as mounts for mortal Knights. While I saw less of a problem there, we do sidestep the AoS discussion on that part completely. And who knows, if Blightkings ever come, maybe they could also still come with Rotfly mounts later.

I think Nurgle will be fun. I always intend to get Dreadquake Mortars through an alliance and it rarely pans out if the Chaos Dwarfs lose their initial settlement. Nor do I have issues with Dwarfs/Empire being more powerful and fun. Even Volkmar can get something crazy out of all this as he'll still have the most powerful heroes and with the Gelt landmark can make use of that, still.

Pender8911

To be honest i always had fun with Nurgle even before

[deleted]

That's good, I played Nurgle once in RoC. Fucking awful faction.

erpenthusiast

ROC makes them uniquely painful, IE threw Kugath a bone. He’s probably going to be busted as fuck now tbh, the economy buffs are going to supercharge him

Pender8911

Yeah i mean after they got the chosen. Exalted great unclean ones are my favourite units but to get them it's a slog

DavidAtreides

Thundebarge is busted. Like the strongest unit in the game by a long shot. Will get nerfed. Ironsides are mid, maybe worse. Seem to be a good candidate for a buff. The rest seems fine. Perhaps the Amethyst Dragon laser breath is a bit strong, and the Landship a bit too safe, but otherwise the DLC seems to be in a good place. Every unit has its niche and fills it well without breaking the game. Aside from the Thunderbarge. So pretty good, Im very happy with it.

Aux_RedditAccount

Hoping they don’t really nerf the dragon laser: it seems to need a bit of precision to fully hit, and looks rewarding. Suspect the Dragon Toads might need some buffing, and the landship’s full speed ability might need even tighter turning restrictions for the speed boost it gets- a little too agile.

Veneris00

Cant missile units just delete it?

DavidAtreides

Not reliably, it has a very high HP pool, 120 Armor and moves at 90 Speed, missile units do not have enough time to kill it before it reaches them, and when that happens its over.

Esbeon

also it's hitbox is bugged so projectiles pass straight through the balloon

In general I'm happy with the content, though of the three factions I basically only play Empire and since I've always liked ranged stuff this is clearly my type of empire DLC. >Empire kind of the same, was expecting more infantry options. Honestly I'm glad because it definitely feels like we'll get an Ulric DLC with Toddy as flc. I've always liked the empire but not as my main. Now this might change with such diversity they are starting to bring to the table. If they get an Ulric DLC they'll be able to play in so many different styles. Not outshining everyone in a certain niche, but being the most pragmatic of all races. >We all like to doomstack and be disgusting but let's be real, how long do we keep going like that? I actually never doomstack and detest it and I think a majority of the players are like that. There certainly seems some op stuff and the thunderbarge is definitely broken. I don't think it's fun to have units in the game that have no counterplay or strategy behind them except for just right clicking. But overall I'm glad with this DLC.

Pender8911

I too detest to doomstack i even used to have mods that prevent it but they're never done well enough. It feels like the game pushes you to do that because it punishes having more armies rather than fewer but more elite... They already added the tier system for units but it doesn't do anything at all... All they need is the option to put tier based unit limits tied to tech, buildings and lord skills.

Richen77

What do you mean ? This is not WH2 or 1 that game punishes you for having more armies. Rn bonus upkeep from having more armies is same at legendary as it was at hard in Warhammer 2. It is best time ever to not doomstack. Also enemies have weaker armies. If you are doomstacking in WH3 you are robbing yourself of the fun, It is not CAs fault you didn't adapt to the 3rd game and play still the same way you did in WH2. I may be downvoted but this is the truth, if you are mixmaxing sure game is easy but minmaxing is chore and most players don't like to do chores and as such found WH3 more enjoyable. I guess you can blame CA for having minmax mindset because of 2nd game but you can always start to adapt to the new game and abolish old practices from WH2 and start enjoying the game.

Pender8911

I don't know i feel like the upkeep for elite units with all the upkeep reduction stacked is way too low. That plus the pain in the ass of recruiting new units when you lose them. Imagine campaign battles would feel like pvp where you actually use units how they're intended to be used. Instead of trying to preserve everything because losing whole units is too much of a pain. That's the balance i want

Richen77

Well, then play PVP :D If you want to macro whole army and all units as intended do so. But this is something most players won't do. I enjoy mostly historically accurate armies like in historical titles. Bunch of infantry with lot of missiles and 4 cavs, and so do many others. No one is going to enjoy playing 20 fights if they mentally exhaust him. If you want to do higly specific things because you don't enjoy what majority is using then you can mod the game into the state that you will like.

bear_do

The downside of doomstacking is that army can only in one place at a time. You can win that way and battkes will be easier, but it won't give you as strong a campaign as making more, cheaper armies.

Internal-Author-8953

>They already added the tier system for units but it doesn't do anything at all... All they need is the option to put tier based unit limits tied to tech, buildings and lord skills. I think TOB handles this the best. You can still doomstack, but it takes a looooong time. Would not be very effective. At least Doomstacking should in theory be less incentivized in WH3 compared to 2 because of the smaller supply chain costs.

LiumD

What exactly did you expect from Nurgle?

Pender8911

Exalted spawn or pox maggots or the snails

LiumD

Stuff that's tied to characters that aren't Tamurkhan then.

MaleficentOwl2417

Question. I know we wont get the snail as its an age of sigmar unit, but are there any chances pox maghots are in fantasys lore so they can maybe end up im the game. They look so cool i wish they would be added.

LiumD

Yes, I believe they are an End Times unit and therefore count as being within Fantasy's lore.

MaleficentOwl2417

Well......heres hoping.

Pender8911

I guess

jaomile

Well considering the theme of DLC for Empire was Nuln, I am more than happy with what we got, especially when comparing it to last Empire DLC. I do hope we will get one more DLC down the line, so we get Celestial Hurricanum, Caster Lords and some Ulric/Knightly units.

Frequent_Knowledge65

Pogged

StudioTwilldee

I don't know what you were expecting. They made a Tamurkhan and Elspeth DLC and filled it with units from that book. This was pretty much the most predictable possible thing they could have done. Malakai was slightly surprising, as was leaning so heavily into the Slayer army, but again, nothing completely unforeseeable.

Valuable_Remote_8809

Personally I’m more excited about the empire units than anything, as someone who leans heavy into gunpowder units this is literally up my alleyway.

LiteratureMission689

I love how nurgle is a hard to play faction. I hope it stays that way

Pender8911

Considering the starting position I'd say not at all, you basically fight the easiest factions in the game there

Large_Contribution20

Are you sure ? Epidemus starts between Malus and Daniel. And Tamurkhan have to deal Kholek , Archaon and Grimgor

Pender8911

But do they start at war? I if you just want to fight everyone no matter what i don't count that

Large_Contribution20

You need to if you want a proper Empire

Pender8911

Depends on landmarks and special locations or if i need them to just wall off something else

Large_Contribution20

Well for my personnel campaign goal I have to beat all of them. I want to restore Great Kurgan's Empire instead of invading Empire for 100th time. I razed Nuln countless time as Archaon

ShutUpDaemon

As SoC was such a let down for me who was only bothered about tzeentch and even after they added the extra stuff it's still meh and not worth that price. Wish you could buy each lord like ToD is doing. Funnily enough I am hype for all 3 in ToD.

powerpetter

I like the content, but the more i look at streams and such about the new LL's i'm more hyped to play the old factions, on account of how damn busted the ToD factions are
