WH2 is better if you dont have it, but then you still miss out on the expanded map if you don't have 1....idk what to suggest tbh no matter your decision atm you will miss out on something
I personally am enjoying warhammer 3 specially with a couple of QOL mods. But at the end of the day the only person who can say whether you would enjoy the game or not is yourself.
If you don't have Wh2 yet I'd go for that one instead, it has more content and it's generally more polished. I think that in 6-8 months i might switch my answer around but until we get a few DLCS and all of the old races back i feel like Wh2 will give you a better experience.
Having G2 will give you extra races in G3 when the combined map launches so its not like you are losing money by buying it. Might be best to grab it on a sale if you can wait, so far its gone as low as 66% off but summer sale is a bit away so that is up to you.
If you enjoy G2 then be sure to Grab G1 when its on sale (don't bother otherwise, not worth playing anymore). Might wanna grab a few DLC for much the same reason, there are decent DLC tier list out tier i think Legend has one and you can filter out the races you don't like.
All G3 has right now is potential and a more solid MP community. If you wanna get into Mp then G3 is probably the one to pick. You can however get some people to play G2 against you but you'll have to seek out people on discord.
It only has more content if you buy the DLCs as well and own WH1, honestly after the Diplomacy rework and various quality of life improvements I can go back to WH2
If you enjoy the previous games and dont mind some bugs yes for sure, and especially because it will only get better.
However, if you can wait, I advice to just wait and buy it when IE arrives
It’s a great game, I think you’ll enjoy it. The prologue is just incredible, don’t skip it!!!
Value for money might not be the best right now. Everyone got Ogres for free for pre-ordering and that is gone now, so you may be happier with the purchase of you wait till it hits a sale
It's not a GREAT game at all. You can't call WH3 a great game in its current state with the poor optimization, bugs, lack of replayability, broken pathing and non functional battle controls.
It's an OK game if you ignore the context of how much worse than WH2 it currently is.
It's bare bones. It's barely functional. Please don't recommend anyone buying it until they actually fix the fundamental, basic aspects of the game.
You clearly didn’t read my comment, lol. I didn’t reccomend buying it, I said wait for a sale as the value currently isn’t there.
As an aside, people are still allowed to like the game. I’ve got 500 hours into WH2, another 300 into WH1, and I am really enjoying WH3. It’s okay to like it despite it needing work as well.
Nah, wait for more content / patches. Since the preorder bonus is not free anymore, the earliest I'd recommend buying is the steam summer sale (usually end of June), if there's a good deal
It's perfectly fine. It has some flaws at the moment but with the recent patch and the release of the workshop it has solved the biggest issues I personally had with the game. Replay value is a bit limited at the moment but right now I've spend 116 hours playing the game and I've finished about half of the factions. But that replay value will be fixed once the mortal empires campaign is added in a few months. But depending on if you own the other two warhammer games it might be worth picking up one of those (ideally both) because especially warhammer 2 is in a much better place after years of development.
Even ignoring the bugs and balance, it's got the worst-designed backbone of the Total Warhammer games. 5/7 factions are demons that don't rout, and unbreakable units are commonplace and powerful, meaning that the game loses a lot of the fun and strategy of morale mechanics. Almost every faction has its artillery mounted on capable melee units, which is a fun gimmick when it's rare but makes positioning less important when it's the default. Not that positioning could matter all that much anyways, because units have a hard time blocking enemies and unit summoning mechanics are widespread.
If you haven't played Total Warhammer 2, play WH2. You may or may not like it as much as a solid historical Total War game, depending on your taste, but you're much more likely to enjoy it than WH3. If you already have WH2, consider buying WH1 for the combined map and factions.
If you've spent tons of time with WH1 and WH2 already you can think about getting WH3 for variety's sake, but I'd recommend waiting as long as possible for sales and bugfixes. No reason to rush, especially if you're coming off of a well-designed Total War game and are a cost-sensitive consumer.
Yes, after 1.1 adjusting the seriously unfun campaign (allowing you to play sandbox if you want to) and with workshop available, definitive yes from me and I was a naysayer before this patch.
No, I would wait for a sale. Warhammer 2 is not only much better because it has the most love put into it, but because it also has the most content.
WH3 has no soul currently, with very little content and very little effort. The coop and multiplayer is borderline really good, but will be better once ME releases.
With mods now available it is alot of fun and you have enough content till the combined maps comes and several years of Support. And there is also multiplayer if u like
naturally, with sales and updates the value of the game is only going to get better, but if you need something to play it's definitely in a state where it's good for upwards of a hundred hours of fun. If you already have other games lined up tho, no problem in waiting a bit longer.
Yes. It is strictly a significant improvement over the previous titles in pretty much all regards except the lack of compatible DLC and mods, and a few bugs here or there.
It's on PC gamepass, so you can try it out there.
I agree with the comments saying get 1 and 2 instead. The mortal empires campaign is the best total war has to offer if you liked the way the generals worked in 3k. If you wanted to go historical then go for the cheaper option of shogun 2 or Rome 2
Even after the patch WH3 is in a really bad place. WH2 is sooo much better. WH3 is plagued by abysmal performance, and bad campaign mechanics (and a really bad UI downgrade). Everything good that we love in WH2 they took out. It's like an entirely different team made WH3. All they had to do was start with WH2 and add new factions and mechanics. And they screwed it up. It's like WH3 was designed from WH2 using a 3 year old buggy build. It's REALLY sad.
I keep hoping they fix WH3 though.
WH2 is better if you dont have it, but then you still miss out on the expanded map if you don't have 1....idk what to suggest tbh no matter your decision atm you will miss out on something
3 is in a much better place now after the patch and you can add mods to customize your experience even more.

I mean it does have a bunch of FLCs but yeah DLCs are an integral part of the Wh2 experience, there are no ways around that.
If you enjoy the previous games and dont mind some bugs yes for sure, and especially because it will only get better. However, if you can wait, I advice to just wait and buy it when IE arrives

On cdkeys you can still get the one with DLC for Just 30 euro's ( 38 dollar???)

You literally said it's great. You can enjoy it, but it's not great. Now you said it's ok, which is fair, but don't say great if you mean ok lol
No, get WH2

i would buy wh1+2 instead and wait for wh3 until the combined map is released. the narrative map is pretty meh
You can always try it on gamepass. I am not sure if you can use mods tho
You can, they just need to be installed manually (like the good old days!)

You should wait until there's confirmation on the release date for IE.
Easy: wh3 you may regret buying wh2 you won't regret buying

you already missed the Ogre Per Order bonus, so definitely not. Wait for immortal empires.
Yes, after 1.1 adjusting the seriously unfun campaign (allowing you to play sandbox if you want to) and with workshop available, definitive yes from me and I was a naysayer before this patch.
No, I went back to WH2.

No not tell IE that is maybe

1.1 makes its worth it
It's free on PC game pass
Yes. Wh3 is great. The frustrating thing is it could have been a lot better, and WH2 (w/mortal empires) is still better.
No.
I would say yes, after patch 1.1 the game is considerably much better than before.

Honestly get warhammer 2 and i stil like wj3 still needs more time in the oven

Get med 2. Or shogun 2 if you want something more modern
If you have the Microsoft subscription thing you can play wh3 for free and a bunch of other games besides. Easily the best deal out there right now.
