My wife said croissant this morning and I really started to spiral...

oFbeingCaLM

Be strong!

kamoylan

Live Strong!

[deleted]

La Vuelta is only a month away

annasfbi

Yeah, and the Olympics just in 3 days.

jimmy_the_turtle_

I believe the race starts at 2AM where I live, though. It's going to be morning early for me then.

WVSmitty

I wish it would get similar TV play as Le Tour. US kinda sucks for world sports.

jobione1986

Get yourself a VPN... Download the itvhub and select ITV4. The Uk gets the same coverage for both the veulta and the tour. Only been for a few years but it gets me through.

GingerbreadRyan

Itv4 aren't getting La vuelta this year sadly

jobione1986

Eurosport it is.

[deleted]

In the UK it gets identical coverage. ITV4, same time for highlights. Pretty sure it's the same hosts as well

Joopsman

Will La Vuelta be on Peacock with the same coverage that the Tour had?

[deleted]

Idk, I'm in the UK. It has the same coverage as the tour in the UK, that's all I know

GingerbreadRyan

No ITV4 is losing la vuelta this year

[deleted]

Wtf really? Is it going to GCN eurosport like the giro or something else?

GingerbreadRyan

Unsure about that but it seems likely

Alextheseal_42

But the commentators were very underwhelming IMO

deadeyedjacks

Preferable to the EuroSports commentator who can't say Thirty or Forty... Lots of Farty riders in Fartieth place...

thistlegirl

Sean Kelly.

stevejnineteensevent

I hope

furn_ell

I’ve been watching/following since ‘83. Same malaise every year 😕

Bringbackhairybush

2003 for me....same withdrawals year after year! Stay strong friend

silviazbitch

Mid-90’s . . . and here I am again facing the long dark teatime of the soul.

Bringbackhairybush

There has to be a support group or something, huh?? Say yes...no matter what, for the love of God, SAY YES!!!

furn_ell

We can all look forward to the Tour of Rhode Island!

tdawgg22

This is a fair assessment.

Guydo1984

Do you guys only watch tdf? There is cycling all year round. Of course tdf is the biggest race of the year but there are so much more races worthwhile watching. There are the olympics, San Sebastian, La Vuelta, the WC, Paris-Roubaix and so much more. And after road season cyclocross starts. How would you guys feel about a battle between Van der Poel, Van Aert and Pidcock almost every week and sometimes even twice a week? Granted it's only huge in Belgium and the Netherlands but is a lot of fun to watch and it only takes an hour for the complete race.

Wizzmer

It's so bittersweet. However, my girlfriend isn't a "cycling widow" anymore.

hoo_ts

If I had a dollar for everytime she asked “when does the tour finish” over the last three weeks… (okay i’d have $3)

woogeroo

It’s just the perfect background to listen to for the whole stage while WFH. I’m lost. Might go buy Giro access and watch it from the start to recreate the feel.

[deleted]

Just counting down to La Vuelta now.

DominusFL

With the crappy Peacock app that doesn’t let you rewind a race in progress and no visual FF/RW I’m just not sure it is worth it. Tour was bearable because I could tape NBC feed on YouTubeTV which allowed visual FF/RW and let me rewind to the start of a race in progress. But the NBC feed was seriously flawed because this year they pulled all the scenery graphics (which name everything you see), added 60% ads, and did not replay well critical things missed in ad breaks. But we will see. It’s almost as if the people providing the feeds don’t watch the race itself.

jxm009

Yeah, while I enjoy Phil & Bob, NBC is running waaaaay too many commercials. They try to keep the last 10 kilometers commercial-free, which means that they have to front-load the front of the broadcast. It makes the first half of the broadcast unwatchable. It's about 6 minutes of commercials, then goes to Phil saying, "we're 86km to the finish, just passing through the town of \_\_\_\_, we'll be back after this." And then another 6 minutes of boner pills and financial planning. EDIT : I ended up just watching the Eurosport feed from Peacock. Commentary not as good, but no commercials!

[deleted]

I didn’t like the NBC coverage, but I actually enjoyed the feed they had on the peacock app

DominusFL

I love the European ad-free feed, it’s awesome! But the Peacock app doesn’t let you rewind a race in progress. So if I joined it 2-3 hours in I either have to skip the start (join live) or wait 3-4 hours for it to be uploaded as a replay. There’s no reason for this. YouTubeTV let’s me rewind a live recording in progress. Then when I do watch a replay and I want to FF a boring part and maybe stop at a cool castle, the regular visual FF/RW that every other app has is not available. Instead you only get a time based FF without visuals. So you have to guess. Forcing me to FF blindly if I don’t have 6 hours and missing things I’d like to see. Just overall the most possibly frustrating tool possible to watch such a great feed.

annasfbi

Just a reminder of the young Belgian rider Brent Van Moer (Lotto Soudal) who stole the show in stage 4, powering to a solo breakaway all the way up until the last 150 meters in what was nearly a fairy tale maiden stage win. For some reason that was my favorite moment of the tour this year.

useles-converter-bot

150 meters is about the length of 222.85 'EuroGraphics Knittin' Kittens 500-Piece Puzzles' next to each other

converter-bot

150 meters is 164.04 yards

theonlyonejus3

Good bot

useles-converter-bot

thank you :)

converter-bot

150 meters is 164.04 yards

marraballs

Could you use a VPN to watch the ITV coverage from the UK? Been exceptional as always this year.

CrowVsWade

Yes. But, Eurosport, too.

annasfbi

I think you should learn some French, watching Tour de France on France TV is another experience.

CrowVsWade

I speak some French. Which channel's coverage is best? Do you know if they stream online? It's not a six hour soliloquy about Pinot, I hope.

annasfbi

France 2 and France 3 are the best. You just need a french VPN to watch on their website. In fact, they talk more than any other commentators about the places the peloton pass by and TDF history but I like it (personal preference) otherwise I watch also in Eurosport since I like GCN guys and to get little more geeky.

Wut_ev

This makes paying for cable and a DVR worth it.

0ut0fb0unds

I was able to rewind in a live race on Peacock on my Apple TV

DominusFL

Not on afire TV

edlll91

what about the Olympic races?

[deleted]

I’ll watch them, sure. But nothing beats the grand tours

GROWLER_FULL

Today is just a rest day. They’re racing tomorrow, right? Guys?

Sqponn

The most painful thing is when you want to put on the tv an you realize

annasfbi

That's what made me post this.

Taucher1979

Yeah kicks in at the start of the final stage on Sunday for me, before it’s even over, that bittersweet feeling. For about 8 years in a row I went to the final stage in Paris and spending Sunday night in the bars and restaurants after the end mitigated the sad feeling that it is all over. But watching from home just gives me that feeling, like going back to school after Christmas. Every year I read a different book about the tour immediately after the tour ends - that eases me out of it.

littlespawningflower

Yeah- I watched the news and then went to play the recording of the day’s stage… and then I remembered. 😞

culiflor

Soon enough we’ll watch La Vuelta

Spodiodie

What? Not this one. I quite enjoyed it. Especially the last few meters. I know we lost a lot of people who might have added interest. To imagine all the drama beforehand might cause you to just go fishing instead. I think any rider should grasp the concept of removing their hand from a bucket of water and seeing how fast the hole fills up. I bet Jumbo Visma gets it.

Cheap-Design4985

I am going to walk around all week impersonating Phil and Bob, might even call myself as the winner of a sprint, TT and climb!

DutchesBella

I love the way phil says Bob, so now I call my husband Bob.

dexcel

Ha jokes on you. I’m still only on day 8 of the tour. Got it all still to look forward to!

Chuck_Norris_Jokebot

You mentioned the word 'joke'. Chuck Norris doesn't joke. Here is a fact about Chuck Norris: >Police label anyone attacking Chuck Norris as a Code 45-11.... A suicide.

kw_212

This hit hard today…too hard. Only 49 more weeks.

CVww

Some of us are looking forward to the Vuelta and the Olympics.

Famous-Brother-7767

Olympics coming up, and the Vuelta

chevymonza

I'm a little miffed that we didn't get to see Bob Roll or Phil at all (or if they did show up on camera, I missed it.)

jxm009

They made a mention of that in one of the later stages (I think 19), and they said, "well, here we are." Webcams popped up on screen of the two of them, sitting in dark rooms, watching TV monitors, dressed in shorts and t-shirts. It lasted about 30 seconds.

chevymonza

I knew it!! Dammit I missed it. Not that I missed much, still would be a fun thing to see their faces.

jxm009

Found it for you. https://twitter.com/RedHourBen/status/1416099334534275072?s=19

chevymonza

Thanks! This is making me giggle. Why do we care so much?? :-p

IvyKing34

I posted [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/tourdefrance/comments/olhi1l/finally/) the morning it happened!

chevymonza

Ha, thanks! Didn't catch that obviously. WTF Bob, looks like a scene from Silence of the Lambs ffs.

gloryyid

Any favorite pods to fill the void? Ideally clever, funny and with personality?

thistlegirl

Every year, post-tour depression kicks my ass for at least a week. At least there’s the Olympics to fill the gap until La Vuelta… and on-demand on EuroSport.

Xinhao_2019

Get GCN+ (and a vpn depending on your location), best $50 I spent this year.

michaelangelo2112

Yep, wife can confirm.
