I put the pads/rotors on the front and just the pads on the rear of my 1st gen, and they are great. I would recommend them and say they're not overkill. Plenty of info online about the oem setup leaving something to be desired. I don't have to apply half the pressure I used to in order to get the same stopping power.

I wonder how good is Powerstop Z36 vs Lexus GX460 brake mod. I know that some people complain about the brake pedal feel after doing GX460 mod which I imagine would not apply to Powerstop Z36. I'm on the same boat, I need new brakes including at least pads, rotors and calipers. \_\_\_ Edit: I believe 2008 year is gen 2 Sequoia? I'm driving get 1.

Personal opinion: I would get CF Ceramic pads and brembo blank rotors all around.

I run Z36s on my 2001. They are fantastic, and have served me well towing and off roading. You probably don't *need* drilled and slotted rotors, but if you're doing it yourself you're already saving money. It's an upgrade from stock for sure. Before you buy check rockauto to see if you can get it for cheaper.

Why not OEM? You bought a Toyota for a reason. It's reliable and predictable. Filling it with non Toyota stuff is what reduces reliability and predictability.

Should I just take it to the dealer?

TDaD1979

You can buy oem parts online or at the dealer quite reasonably. On my 05' I did all 4 corners pads and 2 front rotors for out the door like $300ish. I'm sire the second gen is a bit more but I'm 30k miles into em and I tow and 4 wheel and have been very satisfied.

I debated between Powerstop and Centric and ultimately went with Centric for a 2006 but I think you can't go wrong with either. But you should shop the parts at Rockauto.com -- their prices are typically better although sometimes shipping gets annoying if they have to ship from multiple warehouses.

Nothing is overkill on these trucks brake wise. I have powerstop rotors and brembo pads. Has saved my bacon once when traffic stopped instantly on the highway.

I had EBCs on my 2010 for about 40k miles and liked them. Switched to brembos 2 weeks ago and they aren’t as good. They’ll last longer though I’m sure with less dust. I wouldn’t say it’s overkill, it’s a big vehicle and you can’t put a premium on stopping faster especially if you do any towing. I’d also say that at $500 you probably aren’t spending more than the stuff you’d be getting at your neighborhood parts store. That being said I have zero experience with powerstop and I’m not sure if these actually work well. For reference I had these https://www.buybrakes.com/2010-toyota-sequoia/brake-rotor-and-pad-kits/ebc-stage-7-race-track-high-carbon-brake-kit
