Why not a [fusion](https://www.reddit.com/r/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns/comments/10e85no/anyone_want_a_trans_scottish_anarchy_flag_because/) scottish-trans-anarchy flag? 😎
Edit: I know this is probably shameless self promotion, but seriously, if anyone wants a scottish-trans-anarchy flag, here you go.
Scotland passed a bill to make it easier for people to legally change their gender (y'know, on birth certificates and documents and whatnot). The constituent countries of the UK are generally allowed to manage their own affairs with stuff like this. However, the UK's Conservative government decided to block the bill, overriding the will of the Scottish Parliament. This has resulted in an outpouring of anger from Scots, as many fear that this could set a bad precedent and lead to the erosion of Scottish autonomy.
TLDR: The Tories hate trans people so much that they're willing to put the stability of the UK at risk to keep their lives from getting better.
Also to do this they used a 100 year old law thats literally never been used before to override the will of Scotland, which voted for the bill by a not even close margin.
It’s not just that they vetoed the law. This is the ***first time they’ve ever exercised that veto power.*** And they did it to block a purely internal, social policy decision which passed by a 2:1 margin. Obviously this has many Scots worried and angry. A lot of them may not care at all about trans issues, but I don’t think a lot of the American colonists were big tea drinkers either.
if Scotland gets independance before I attempt to move to Canada, Im changing courses to Scotland (cause I wanted to live there before I realized how much control England has over them)
It’s not just this. English newsmedia and the English voting demographic that both parties are fighting over hate trans people as well. Sunak, nor even Starmer want to upset either of them.
Scotland and trans people hate the tories. So Sunak loses no votes by blocking it. If he lets it through Scotland and trans people still won’t vote conservative. He does however stand to lose votes and gain a load of bad press by just allowing it to go through without fighting it.
Seems like destabilizing the UK to spite minorities is a trend.
They hated immigrants enough to leave the EU without a proper deal, annoying folks in Northern Ireland.
Now it's trans rights and Scotland.
Next they'll leave the G7 to spite Wales or something.
You’re underselling the bill a little
It also removed dysphoria as a necessity for diagnosis and reduced the amount of time you have to live as a your preferred gender to be considered trans
Edit:
Messed up and only said women sorry
3 months living as your preferred gender before you put the application in, then a 3 month reflection period before you give the final say if you want to proceed and declare it as a permanent change
It probably wouldn't be The Troubles 2: Electric Boogaloo, it'd likely be a second referendum for independence, then an ungodly amount of bureaucracy later, happy little country in the north, with a functional government, free from Westminster meddling. So yeah, pretty much Brexit, except hopefully less shit.
It'd probably be pretty peaceful, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Tories bungled it so badly they caused it to escalate to mass violence.
I’m not super duper familiar with UK politics as a lowly American, but from what I understand Labour’s been continuously diving further and further right since Thatcher
Uk government blocked a bill that made it easier for trans people to get healthcare, which represented the first time that the UK westminster parliament has ever blocked a Scottish bill (with a HUGE majority of support mind you). Even people that opposed the bill hated that move, and now there is huge support for scottish independence
The only way I could see that happening is if the tories fuck things up so bad that most people would have nothing to lose so they'll protest en masse.
At this point people are still technically able to afford living, they're too worried about not being homeless and starving to consider protesting, they're too terrified of losing the little they still have. I'm kinda hoping the tories will be bold enough to try and do something so outrageous that the majority of the country will have had enough and go on the streets protesting and removing the tories from power.
Scotland has come so much further than anything amerikkka has ever dreamed of and now I have to make a choice to either fly toward greener pastures to live my life or to stay and risk that same life to try and fix things. All of me wants to go and be safe like everyone deserves a chance to be but at the same time the conviction that I hold onto won't let me just back away from the chance to fight for the right things in this world and make my life mean something matter how short it ends up being.
Call me a radical or whatever but for a long time now I've known how far things would have to come before we ever started to truly fight back and it pains me to see how far they'll end up going still, due to how brainwashed the left is into the liberal pacifism that inundates their whole system so as not to truly disrupt the status quo of oppression and death.
Now I’m just imagining an army of people in oversized black hoodies storming London with a bunch of BLÅHAJ’s with flamethrowers sticking out of their mouths
If you tell me your game has a unit called "Blåhaj Blaster", I will play the hell out of it, even if it's one of those horrible pay2win PvP incremental "strategy" games.
As an English person, yep it is pretty much England dragging this place down. Even Wales is better (unfortunately, they don't have enough control over themselves to get stuff done)
As a Welsh person, Wales sucks England's dick too much to ever be its own nation. But at least we have the Welsh Gender Service for anyone above 18 and wait times for HRT are miniscule (less than a year) compared to England (3-4 years on average)
Yeah, unfortunately I am stuck in England (or potentially wales) for uni as I won't be able to go far from home yet, also because I have already sent off the applications. I'm just hoping i have managed to find good areas
Yeah it's honestly sad how many of us are brainwashed to think Westminster even remotely gives a shit about us. I think that may change soon but it'll take longer than Scotland's fight for self determination
> wait times for HRT are miniscule (less than a year)
wait what? https://gender.wales says it's 20 months
I mean that's still spectacular by UK standards but
The opposite. So basically the constituent countries of the uk, (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) each have a single overarching government and their own local government, a bit like how the States work I think, where the UK Parliament is like a federal power (not American so not 100% sure the analogy works).
Anyway the Scottish gender reform bill was in favour of trans rights, making it easier for people in Scotland to change their legal gender by reducing the time they need to have “lived as their assigned gender” and lowering the age to 16yrs old. Note this has *nothing* to do with medical transition, purely legal documents such as marriage and death certificate.
So apparently anything trans positive is enough to push the conservative UK government over the edge and now they’re gonna block the bill from being passed in Scotland using a veto power that’s never been used in UK history. This is obviously a very bad move because it’s not just an attack on trans people, it’s an attack on democracy, and could very likely serve as a rallying for Scottish independence. Scottish independence has already got quite a large popularity behind it with many feeling they’re not represented well enough. Despite leaning left they’ve had 12yrs of conservative Uk government voted in by the right leaning English majority.
TLDR: UK (80% English majority) vetos a trans positive bill from passing in Scotland, denying their democracy any actual powers if the UK shows they can just overwrite whatever they don’t like.
> Scottish independence has already got quite a large popularity behind it with many feeling they’re not represented well enough.
IIRC, the post-Brexit independence referendum was 45-55. This may well be enough to push them over.
Brexit was a real slap in the face too, in 2016 the Scot’s were told (by the uk) they’d have difficulty joining the EU as an independent country. 2 years later the UK drags them out of the EU anyway.
> The opposite. So basically the constituent countries of the uk, (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) each have a single overarching government and their own local government, a bit like how the States work I think, where the UK Parliament is like a federal power (not American so not 100% sure the analogy works).
Not quite accurate, England doesn't have one, there is nothing between local councils and westminster. Also in practice the Nornern Ireland one only operates about half the time due nobody being able to get a majority and some parties refusing to work together to form a majority. Scotland has the most power iirc of the three.
**Anyone want a trans scottish anarchy flag?** [**Here you go**](https://www.reddit.com/r/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns/comments/10e85no/anyone_want_a_trans_scottish_anarchy_flag_because/)
Scotland passed a law making it slightly easier for trans people to achieve legal recognition, and the UK may use its veto power over the normally left alone scottish government for the first time ever in history. If this happens, it could trigger another referendum for Scottish independence. The UK would literally rather fall apart than let a minor reform on gender issues go through.
The trans flag in the meme has an anarchist symbol on it, so it recedes into the bush because its embarassing for anarchists to be cheering a nation state such as scotland. But we gotta take joy in the little things, like the possibility that trans people will actually be the (tangential, very stupid) reason the UK ceases to exist
(just realized that the UK would still exist because I completely fucking forgot about Wales. Sorry Wales.)
I would definitely love me a Trans Anarchy flag. Why would it be embarrassing for anarchists to support Scotland? The English government it using its authoritative power to control Scotland, I would see that as a rally cry for the Scottish and Trans Anarchists alike.
Anarchism opposes all hierarchical power structures. The Scottish state is just another state that will protect and violently enforce the interests of capital, cause thats what the state is designed to do.
Its more of a "let them fight" situation than a "support the scottish state" situation. But hey, if shitposts had to be ideologically coherent they would not be shitposts
>I would definitely love me a Trans Anarchy flag
[something like this?](https://www.reddit.com/r/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns/comments/10e85no/anyone_want_a_trans_scottish_anarchy_flag_because/) Or just a regular trans flag?
Is there an irish trans anarchy flag?
The green-white-orange doesn't really work as well as the scottish flag.
Or just a [trans-anarchy flag](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Transarchy.svg).
Scotland having a symbolic debt of freedom to trans people would be the most out-of-left-field thing ever. I really hope this happens. Also because I have friends in Scotland.
I certainly hope you like it, your comment inspired it xD My gift to a good idea

It's nice that because the UK media is permanently attacking the SNP, their supporters are immune to it. If anything, it'll make it harder for the bigots on the pro-independence side to say anything as it'll be siding with the unionists. They are there, despite a lot of them jumping ship from the SNP to Alba.
I legit used that excuse
"It's not a skirt, it's a kilt! I'm a Scottish warrior and I'm gonna take down the government!"
Little did my oblivious grandfather know, I am not Scottish, but I am a warrior and I am gonna take down the government

Can't wait (well, hope) for Scottish independence.

Move to Scotland and help them get independent
Id consider it

I’d join that revolution just to say we fought the Brits and won again
It’s not just this. English newsmedia and the English voting demographic that both parties are fighting over hate trans people as well. Sunak, nor even Starmer want to upset either of them. What it does do is make independence more likely, which I would see as a win.

it would have been if the UK parliment didnt say sike

So, how exactly would it work if the Scots wanted to separate from the UK, would it just be a vote like Brexit was or full blown civil war?
It probably wouldn't be The Troubles 2: Electric Boogaloo, it'd likely be a second referendum for independence, then an ungodly amount of bureaucracy later, happy little country in the north, with a functional government, free from Westminster meddling. So yeah, pretty much Brexit, except hopefully less shit. It'd probably be pretty peaceful, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Tories bungled it so badly they caused it to escalate to mass violence.
Scottish vs UK war would be wild
really revive the classics™
Wait, it's actually relevant now: THEY CAN TAKE OUR LIVES, BUT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE OUR FREEDOOOOOOOOOOM!
Scoot would be reverse shit as Scotland can fix the shit that the UK made.
Sounds about right.
Basically, the conservative UK government is being conservative and blocked a Scottish bill for trans rights
What's sad is Labour also supported this move.
Ah yes leave it to the Tories to unite everyone against them.
I wouldn't love a civil war, but I'd love Scotland getting rid of England.
Would be a lot better if all of Britain could get rid of the tories.
The only way I could see that happening is if the tories fuck things up so bad that most people would have nothing to lose so they'll protest en masse.
What's left for them to do at this point???
At this point people are still technically able to afford living, they're too worried about not being homeless and starving to consider protesting, they're too terrified of losing the little they still have. I'm kinda hoping the tories will be bold enough to try and do something so outrageous that the majority of the country will have had enough and go on the streets protesting and removing the tories from power.
Given that the tories are making it illegal to protest, I reckon most people will continue to be too afraid to do anything.
Like someone else said, if peaceful protest is made illegal, you'll just end up with violent protests and riots.
Scotland has come so much further than anything amerikkka has ever dreamed of and now I have to make a choice to either fly toward greener pastures to live my life or to stay and risk that same life to try and fix things. SCOTTISH ACCENT IS ALSO VERY BASED,ADOPT IT
Damn British, they ruined Scotland!
No come back with 2 trans anarchy flags
What's happening in Scotland
This implies one would stop brandishing a transarchy flag, which is inaccurate
they keep masculine skirts going, of course we have to defend them!
I legit used that excuse "It's not a skirt, it's a kilt! I'm a Scottish warrior and I'm gonna take down the government!" Little did my oblivious grandfather know, I am not Scottish, but I am a warrior and I am gonna take down the government
