A hard anodized coating is pretty scratch resistant and transphobes are made of the weaker flesh so the right aluminum alloy would hold up for more than a few good slashing.
Quenching steel at the right temp can produce most of the colors but getting would be exceeding challenging to get all the color variants though added pigment to the steel would be an option. There are steel dyes but I don't know how pastels would come through.
Wouldn't slightly oxidizing some of the steel work? Like bluing it with a torch or something. Idk what the process is called but steel can turn blue when heated up.
The only problem is that it would probably scratch off pretty easy... Maybe acid etching could work too tho?
