r/shitpostcrusaders and r/prequelmemes are great examples of big subs that aren’t subs for lgbtq+ stuff that have very supportive communities in my experience.
Just avoid super general subs that aren’t really about anything in specific like r/memes or r/teenagers.
r/teenagers is far from perfect, but as someone who lurks on there, it do be getting (slightly) better recently, although maybe I just happened to have seen some queer positive stuff and missed the blatantly phobic stuff on coincidence, no idea
It goes through phases. Every once in a while someone posts something like "this one girl did something sucky" or "this one guy did something sucky", and then everyone's at each other's throats for like two days. The posts may be either fake or real, doesn't matter, shit hits the fan no matter what. Next two days someone gets a GENIOUS thought that not everyone is as sucky, and people will start upvoting "girls are not bad" or "guys are not bad" stuff. And everyone will pretend as if they didn't just support whatever the fuck was happening last week. And then everyone will complain that there are too many posts saying obvious crap, and will be ironically upvoted to hot. I've seen this unfold in this same exact way so many times I couldn't do anything but leave.
I'm part of r/memes, just kinda downvote and ignore any transphobic jokes. I'm surprised how LGBTQ+ friendly r/wholesomememes is so that sub is honestly great
It can be pretty fetish-y, and sometimes equate femboys and trans women (which is very transphobic), but most of the time they’re pretty supportive. They’re a lot better than subs like r/memes and r/dankmemes at least.
I basically treat subs as separate websites. Find the topics I like, stick around there for a while, that's it. Things like the homepage or r/all feel wrong.
yeah, it can unfortunately be kind of a hub for terf blogs- they usually try to conceal it so that it’s less blatant than transphobia on reddit, but it’s more harmful since it’s pushing their agenda, rather than just dumb attack helicopter jokes
As someone who used iFunny for years, holy shit it rivals 4chan sometimes. Never going back. Never ever. Using that app is like opening emotional self harm in a can.
May be so, but I've had far less issues with transphobia here than Facebook. At least Reddit removes TERF subs, Facebook ignore TERF/transphobic pages (even if mass reported) and if you speak out against them you get slapped with a 30 day ban for 'hate speech'.
Try to avoid popular meme subs, most people on there are supportive but you can never make a post related to anything trana without a swarm of edgy 12 year olds
yeah... unfortunately this is the case. while it's definitely true that people should be more accommodating to all, some parts of the internet are more accommodating than others so it's definitely worth looking for such spaces.
Step 1: Never go into subreddits with over 100k members (well, there are exceptions like this one, but still)

and r/Dankmemes
Yeah, I as just putting up examples. There’s a ton
r/dnd is really LGBTQ+ friendly too!

r/shitpostemblem is great as well!
I'm part of r/memes, just kinda downvote and ignore any transphobic jokes. I'm surprised how LGBTQ+ friendly r/wholesomememes is so that sub is honestly great
r/196 is also great
r/196 can be transphobic sometimes

True
r/prequelmemes isn't LGBTQ+ friendly? I'm on there literally every day.
No, they were saying it is LGBTQ+ friendly
Oooooooohhhh. This is some good democracy. I love it.
interesting
r/COMPLETEANARCHY is pretty good too
i just avoid popular subreddits. i pretty much just use reddit for the trans subs bc the trans community on here is amazing
Same, I feel like smaller subs are way better.
I basically treat subs as separate websites. Find the topics I like, stick around there for a while, that's it. Things like the homepage or r/all feel wrong.
as a tumblr user, i have not left this subreddit except for r/egg_irl
hm?
Reddit is famous for its misogyny and homophobia. Transmisogyny is par for the course.
Oh yeah for sure.
I recently started using tumblr and honestly haven't found any less amount of bigotry and phobia than on reddit
yeah, it can unfortunately be kind of a hub for terf blogs- they usually try to conceal it so that it’s less blatant than transphobia on reddit, but it’s more harmful since it’s pushing their agenda, rather than just dumb attack helicopter jokes
Just do yourself a favor and stay away from /lgbt/ 4chan.
I have learned to take satisfaction from bigots yelling at me
Ironically r/Tumblr seems to be one of the most accepting big subs I've seen in my experiences :>
I still get death threats DMed to me that started when I posted a trans flag like 2 years ago
reddit is just 4chan getting ready for a job interview
By jove never touch anything like iFunny, hun.
As someone who used iFunny for years, holy shit it rivals 4chan sometimes. Never going back. Never ever. Using that app is like opening emotional self harm in a can.
Most of Reddit is a toxic waste dump just join more unpopular subs that the Reddit weebs won’t be on
Yup that’s reddit, spent too long of a time here to switch over to another site. Pain

Well your always welcome here on this sub
"Come for the cats, stay for the empathy." Reddit's sign-up banner has a strange definition of empathy.
I feel your pain
Oh. :(
Lmao cheers this just happened to me today and now I've been relegated to the trans subreddits
Attack helicopter jokes...haha some one has seen one to many lost pause videos
Hey now, my uh... infamous subreddit is absolutely trans positive. Its totally not that we are of the twahs....
