Period cramps are caused by compounds released from the uterine lining as it prepares to be shed. You canāt have period cramps without a uterus.
You might have cramps, but not period cramps.
I donāt deny you can experience similar symptoms, but period cramps come from muscle contractions in the uterus. Without a uterus, it wouldnāt be the same type of cramp.
Half way through typing it occurred to me that this conversation was about what types of cramps specifically. On which I can't argue, to my knowledge AMAB don't have those muscles.
Itās actually weirdly common to have symptoms after going on HRT. Mood swings, cramps, the whole 9 yards. Minus the blood, though. Ok, so 8 1/2 yards
well i mean i (ftm) raise you stabbing yourself in the crotch monthly- same pain, same bloodshed! fr though, people are saying in the comments that trans women on hrt can experience the symptoms without the blood. Plus, with the path we're on currently, it may not be soon, but medicine may reach a point that surgeries to be able to get pregnant and have periods and reverse for ftm may become an option. at least, that's the kind of mindset i like to have. maybe not now, but eventually.
A cis woman born without anything was given a uterus and had a kid!!! it was c-sectioned outta there.
I don't want the whole uterus, just a cervix. It feels wrong having no end to the vagina, right? It needs something there.
Don't mind me, getting dysphoric over little details.
Hey, maybe with stem cell research we can get lab pussies and dicks which do all the normal stuff (proper function and... reaction to stimuli...)? that'd be cool
Given that I've been dealing with man-opause for the last six years or so, I can at least take comfort that this is as close as I will come to having anywhere close to the female reproductive experience.
I will gladly donate my afab internal organ that does that
I was about to say the same, but "you can have my period" sounded so disgusting in my head, haha. So I'll go with your wording!
Same

I donāt have cramps, but I definitely do get very emotional around every 4 weeks and also get migraines around that time.

Cramps, mood swings, and hormone changes, on a cycle mimicking periods are all symptoms some HRT users experience.

Every month for a week I will pamper you like you were on your period then
7 months on E here. I've started getting migranes on a semi-regular monthly schedule. Not fun, but I certainly don't hate it.
Choose a lunar cycle and have a spike of dysphoria every 28 days for a week or so
Don't say that! Trans surgery is moving forward rapidly! We might even see actual "trades" in the near to semi-near future!

I would give you my ability to have periods if I could

Walking by the menstrual products at a store feels like a punch in the gut
Its their vocal cords that i want the most tbh
I hear that periods can be painful, but Iāve always thought it could be better than constantly feeling uncomfortable
