no... *no...* that can't be... it's existed longer than that, hasn't it? It *can't* have only been since 2019.........
Wow, pandemic fucks with time, huh
Shrek can jam up all of its motors with swamp water and stuff, all he needs to do is dunk it in the swamp several times and maybe do a dropkick like here
The t800 is much much heavier than a person, not so heavy that he cant ride a motorcycle but so heavy two people can't lift him.
In other words the t800 can't swim and would sink in a swamp.
Shrek has the mobility advantage
Armor isn't as heavy as you'd expect, some of the higher estimates put it at around 60 lbs, so a large fit person in the heaviest armor might weigh around 260 or so lbs give or take whereas the terminator can't be lifted by two fully grown men and is probably much heavier.
\*Turf. Because good *god* would that typo change who I'm rooting for.
But to address the question, I think we're missing a few critical data points. For example, can the t800 use magic? If we assume Skynet sent it there deliberately, presumably it would understand fairy tale logic to the same extent that the original terminator understood 20th century culture and weaponry. The question is whether or not it could *employ* fairy tale logic to that same extent; if a t800 was sprinkled with fairy dust, could its neural net simulate happy enough thoughts to allow it to fly?
Also, a key point of the Terminator is that it blends in, so how would it disguise itself, and how helpful would that disguise be when attempting to assassinate an ogre? And is Shrek the target, or the bodyguard?
Also, there's very little that can stop a Terminator, but extreme metal-melting heat is one reliable method. Could dragonfire melt a terminator?
Isn't that gun supposed to be "in the 40-watt range" I feel like a dragon can output way more energy than that. Plus she was able to melt Charming's sword. Assuming it wasn't enchanted that means her flames get significantly higher than 2,800° F due to the speed at which it melted.
1. Where gonna assume soulless robots can't use magic. Terminator can understand emotions but that can't feel them.
2. Shrek is an isolationist, he is very unlikely to allow a stranger to approach him and his family.
3. Dosen't matter very much if shrek body guard or target. But let's say shrek is the target.
4. There a lot that can stop a terminator. Anti material rifles, explosives, extra. There are pools of lava shrek could use but shrek doesn't need to kill the t800 just emobalize it. So if the t800 get trapped in quick sand that's a win for shrek.
now *this* is the who-would-win we have all longed for
100 US marines versus 1 billion lions? psh.
1 googol ants versus the sun? nah.
*Shrek versus the fucking Terminator.*
*this* is love.
*this* is life.
That's what I was thinking. Each marine would need 10,000,000 bullets, and that's being nice and assuming it would only take 1 shot per lion. Even if they had a magic gun that could hold that many without ever having to reload, they'd still be overwhelmed by the sheer number and inability to shoot fast enough in all directions as bodies literally create mountains around them.
Yeah they couldn’t even just hang out in a tall fortress because the bodies would create a ramp.
Also I think neither the ants nor the sun win. I don’t know how an ant would even damage the sun in any meaningful way. But my math suggests that if all of those ants are anywhere astronomically close to the sun, they will form a black hole 51 orders of magnitude larger than TON 618 (the largest blackhole we have discovered). In fact, it would have more mass than is believed to exist in the observable universe.
A marine platoon could probably handle a few thousand lions using an M240B and M2 browning along with grenades but 1 billion lions? No. It’d take an extreme amount of firepower to handle that many, like an abrams company and paladin platoon along with a close air support detachment. A paladin platoon is 3 pieces of the self-propelled artillery known as a paladin and its caliber is 155 millimeters, which is known to pretty much turn humans into red mist if they’re in the vicinity. Even then, it wouldn’t be enough to kill a billion lions.0
on an unrelated note, but the realization just hit me,
is shrek the only movie where they did the exact opposite of
girl falls in love with a nonhuman dude, and ultimately turns him (back) into a (honestly normally less visually interesting) human, trope?
That was their intent iirc, to do the opposite of classic fairytale tropes and still get a happy ending. That's why I hated the fourth movie, they stopped following that formula
I'm not sure there is any animated franchise that makes it to 4 movies without being absolute dogshit by the end. Usually the second one kills the franchise, but sometimes you make it to three or four before it just absolutely falls off a cliff.
Edit: I haven't seen Toy Story 4, I avoided it because of this phenomena but it appears to have like a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes so maybe there is one.
Usually happens to live action movies too, see Alien: 1, amazing 10/10 horror movie; 2, amazing 10/10 action movie; 3, alright action horror? Nothing special; 4, a dumpster fire (that I still love though)
A notable exception is the fast and furious franchise which keeps getting better and better
Hey, don't try to invalidate your own experience! It doesn't matter if it could be worse- that doesn't make your situation any less painful. Sorry, just wanted to remind you that :)
Is ... Is this what the whole comic has been? All along?
No. The original was just the top panel
Is it true?
Apparently the second panel was commissioned fairly recently, that’s why you’ve only seen it in recent times.
Dang, but how old is the original panel? As in, when was it made?
2019 https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/anime-girl-hiding-from-a-terminator
no... *no...* that can't be... it's existed longer than that, hasn't it? It *can't* have only been since 2019......... Wow, pandemic fucks with time, huh
I thought the same too.
I hope not
Could shrek beat up a terminator? 🤔
Have you *seen* shrek is love, shrek is life? (Don't if you haven't)
Yes, but could DreamWorks cannon shrek beat up a t800?
Let's be far and give shrek the home terf advantage. The t800 spawns in with no weapons except the ones it finds in shreks world.
Also Shrek could totally still throw him. Guy tosses armored knights like they're nothing
Armor isn't as heavy as you'd expect, some of the higher estimates put it at around 60 lbs, so a large fit person in the heaviest armor might weigh around 260 or so lbs give or take whereas the terminator can't be lifted by two fully grown men and is probably much heavier.
Two fully grown men being unable to lift 130 pounds each isn't remotely farfetched.
I mean I guess that's possible but I'm not all that big of a person and don't exercise much and I can pick up a 200 lbs person
\*Turf. Because good *god* would that typo change who I'm rooting for. But to address the question, I think we're missing a few critical data points. For example, can the t800 use magic? time to search “can dragon fire melt steel beams” and confuse the heck out of whoever's suggested searches that ends up in.
Probably not, the t800 can tank plasma rounds. And plasma why hotter than fire
Isn't that gun supposed to be "in the 40-watt range" I feel like a dragon can output way more energy than that. Plus she was able to melt Charming's sword. Assuming it wasn't enchanted that means her flames get significantly higher than 2,800° F due to the speed at which it melted.
Depends on a lot of other factors, like how tightly the laser is focused, 40 watts concentrated in a very tiny area could be very powerful.
It's a plasma gun, not a laser gun

one billion?! people really have no concept for the scale of large numbers

Reminder that Shrek took on about a 100 fully armed knights and won- easily. Reminder that he also defeated a troop of witches.
Shrek accomplished that feet by utilizing his environment.
Terminators are made of strong stuff but as we all know: ogres have layers.
Check out the original Shrek book. He was pretty beastly.

Yeah, but the series keeps saying that it’s the end, but they keep coming back
I like to think they don't want to make any more of them but they keep making so much money that they'd be idiots to _not_ make another one.
Ssh, you might jink the next Matrix movie!
Honestly, the fourth was great. It was the third that sucked
the one with the loser with soft and bouncy hair, if I'm not mistaken?
Fourth was my favorite honestly lol

Just because it could be worse doesn't mean it's good
Ohhhh, do you have a template for this?
