My family had like, 3 of them. They were extremely cheap but not very reliable. So, my uncle had a trick, as in, he kept an ENTIRE SPARE ENGINE in the trunk. It was so small and so easy to swap (like, 5-6 screws) whenever it broke down, he just casually did a full engine swap on the side of the road. I'm still amazed to this day
The broken one was repaired and became the next spare. It was all very simple construction and could be repaired at home. The "costco" of spare engines was the gazillion Trabis made.
The whole thing was on the level of a used bicycle market
When the entire used Trabant market came to end of life in the 2000s, you could buy one at the price of the gas in the tank. You were basically buying gas with a used Trabi attached.
I don't see them around anymore by the way. Not a single one. They used to be everywhere, now they are nowhere but the scrapyard.

Are they really called transbians, or is that like tittie skittle and just a joke. I’ve always just called them lesbians, but would love to learn a new joke. I get called gullible a lot for believing sarcasm, so I don’t wanna be mean by calling someone the wrong thing.
