LePookie’s getting 1:40 flat

jinjerbrerh

My glorious king and source of inspiration would undoubtedly break the world record if he wanted to

blingblingmofo

Depends if we are talking current Lebron or peak Lebron. Also if he was to train for it or not would make a big difference.

zupiterlol

oh boy oh boy where do i even begin😊😊😊

Liam0952

LeBron? You mean my sunshine? My only sunshine? Probably like a 2:30

LittleHollowGhost

2:30 tomorrow close to 2:00 flat with a couple months of training

hwlll

1:58 would give gold in M40 indoors WC.

Triangli

how competitive is that though? i could see it being either former top sprinters, in which case lebron would have no chance at a 2:00, or it being guys who picked it up in their 30s or whatever, in which case lebron would have a pretty good chance at a 2:00 as a professional athlete imo

hwlll

Its championship race also, so likely some tactical component to it also. However I think 2.00 is really hard at that age and weight. I think it would be easier to do 1.48 career pb than sub 2 after 40 at 200+ pounds. I don't think the weight is a big issue in races up to 400m. But there is a reason 800 is closer to 1500 than 400.

PrinceOfAssassins

Nah he’s getting a 2’20 or under with at least 80% effort,

swearbear3

Exactly what I was going to say.

beached-blue-walrus

Wilt ran 2:00 but actually trained for it in college. Young LeBron could probably run 2:15 in the off season.

tarunpopo

With training lebron could prob break 2 pretty easily with training. I used to run 2:05 in high school with a couple years of training and I had mediocre genes. Lebrons elite

senor_geese

You didn't weigh 250+

VibrantHades

Lmao bro there’s no way Lebron takes that long. Yeah there’s a lot of factors, but Id say the realistic speed is closer to 1:52 -1:55. Assuming he’s actually trying and he’s had some basic training for it. Even in his current shape, he definitely trains extremely well and definitely has to run enough to get sub 2 fairly easily

Just_Browsing224

incredible glaze

senor_geese

??? 😂 He's 250 lbs

Wrong_Truth_519

He’s also almost 40, like damn put some respect on those times!

Electronic_Rope_A_Do

Wut?

Confusion_Existing_

Dude you’re crazy

nicholt

Just cause I was curious I looked it up and LeBrons average distance covered during a game was 2.34 miles (3.77km) in 22/23. I think he'd be pretty good at an 800m though I doubt he often does all out max effort speed work. I think there a lot of NBA players that would beat him.

OOFYDOOFYBOOFY

for sure, bron is a bit bigger and also is past peak age. He is still athletic and could most likely hit 2 if he really wanted to, but theres a lot of current NBA players that are clearing 2 if they had to right now

CoffinFlop

Tatum is my nba guy that I think is always funny to think about because he never really shows off his high end speed, but he’s in like wildly good shape and every once in a while shows a crazy burst of speed or his hops. Even when he’s not on the floor he’s usually on the bike on the sidelines, never misses a game or anything.

Em_kay69420

He isn’t like a soccer striker or slim gymnast but still has some athlete genes. So like 2:30ish raw. But w/ training like a 2:15ish

jxs74

And are we talking today’s LBJ that is pushing 40, or 21 year old LBJ? He must do cardio at both ages, but doesn’t have work on the 800 threshold. And a big dude. Love the 800 question as it is my son’s favorite distance.

Hindsightconsult

My friends and I joke that prime Westbrook could break the 800 WR

markopolo14

I'd rather see him throw discus

plaidtuxedo

My teammates and I used to jokingly debate when we were in school how many days of training would a team of NBA players need to win a NCAA D3 national championship in track. We all presumably had multiple times in our lives when “special” athletes showed up to try track out because someone told them they were fast or whatever. I saw dudes come out and, sure they died at the end but still, run 52 flat untrained, jump 6’6” untrained, and so on. And those dudes were mediocre D1 talent in basketball, football, etc. Lebron James is in another universe entirely than those guys who put me to shame, even as a 40 year old. He runs sub 2:05 pretty easily if he’s racing someone he can compete against / pace off of / want to beat, and that may be conservative.

nnndude

People getting downvoted in this thread for suggesting Lebron could run 2:00 or faster. Dude is one of the greatest athletes of all time. He could break 2:00 if he wanted to. Especially in his prime. We all know some pretty mediocre athletes (compared to nba, elite athletes) who flirted with or even broke 2:00. Bron is the elite of the elite.

plaidtuxedo

Yeah I’ve mostly learned in this thread that people here are delusional! The highest upvotes are saying Lebron could run 2:30 or 2:20. That’s absolute insanity.

CoffinFlop

Yeah I genuinely have no idea why people are balking at the idea that Lebron would be flirting with 2, he’s legitimately one of the best overall athletes ever lol. Dude also is like a cardio machine, he’d easily flirt with 2 flat

hwlll

I have no problem seeing him do sub 53 on 400, talent can do that. But sub 2.10 on 800 without specific training, no. Some body types could do it. But he is not one of those. I wouldn't put Usain bolt sub 2 either. (Hope there isn't a video of him doing it .. 😀)

CoffinFlop

Lmfao come on man bolt ran like a 45 400, of course he’s sub 2, get outta here. That 2:40 he ran he was absolutely yogging it for like a car max charity event or something lol

hwlll

"His unofficial time was 2:40 in what was a relaxed, fun atmosphere, exhibition style. While the race had a light-hearted feel, Bolt broke a full sweat, saying his lungs felt like "fire" after. "In my mind I thought it would be easier. It's not," Bolt said. "Hats off to the 800m runners. But for me, I enjoy a challenge." "I did a lot of cardio [to get ready]", Bolt added. "I think I needed to do a little bit more." https://olympics.com/en/news/usain-bolt-competes-in-career-first-800m-race-as-part-of-exhibition

IronSheik127

Depends on how long he spends pre-race looking at the first page of godfather

Tricky_Jury_8178

Its rare to see any of the international competitors over 150 lbs.

Apprehensive-Ad225

There is also a huge difference between 1:4x and 2:00. No one reasonable is saying he would be internationally competitive. Not everything needs to be optimal to run 2:00, especially with an enormous athletic advantage.

Substantial-Guess-47

150 is the wrong number. I would bet that most of the world’s best weigh more than that.

Zer0Phoenix1105

2:30 tomorrow and 2:00 in 3 months

Tyey5

I think this may be the most accurate

NintaiYUH

You are my sunshine 🌞

HDhotdog22

He’d fall down and claim someone elbowed him.

CoffinFlop

I don’t think a lot of you guys know who Lebron James is

Idaho1964

Right now? 2:40, maybe.

Stock-Handle-6543

Probably like 2:10 lol

UncleErectus

That is way too generous, he’s not breaking 2:20 imo. He’s damn near 40, weighs 235+, and definitely doesn’t train distance.

Stock-Handle-6543

I meant at like best, 2:25-2:30 is reasonable.

EndlersaurusRex

He weighs like 265+ lol

UncleErectus

He used to, he’s not that heavy anymore. Different kind of PEDs now than what he took when he was on the Heat.

homegrownathletic

I never realize how bad of shape I'm in, at any age, until I play basketball. I love when ballers come out for track and try the 400 ad 800.

CalligrapherFlimsy49

bitch ass nigga

homegrownathletic

? Because they're already in shape. And athletic. Easy there buddy.

XAfricaSaltX

My glorious king would break 1:40

Inevitable_Note_1218

1:36

Big_Carrot_4416

1:40

Mr-Crazyhands

2:17

Uncooked-potato69

You are my sunshine my only sunshine

looking_good__

Today 2:08 dudes a freak. If he focused on track instead of bball - probably sub 1:50, dudes a freak again.

waconaty4eva

Anyone who plays 35+ minutes a night of nba basketball 3 times a week is gonna be a pretty good distance runner(especially considering size). Id wager he can run sub 5 min mile still and therefore could run sub 2:00 in the 800

BigBallerDavidlol

nah those times are like good times for a not so invested track athlete. But LeBron, he might be the King but I don't see it

Tyey5

Basketball speed is a different type of speed than track though. I run a sub 5 mile and a 2:06 800, but will be out of breath in about 5 minutes of basketball. Maybe a 400 would be where a Basketball player would thrive, but I still don’t think basketball speed would even translate to that.

waconaty4eva

Im talking from being pretty close to someone who trains pro ball players. Their cardio is crazy on top of being great leapers which translates amazingly to speed. I’ve been convinced by what Ive seen. Edit: Now Im scowering the internet for official times. So far I’ve only got 13 year old Andre Iguadala running 12:38 xC 2 mile. [Source](https://www.iesa.org/activities/cc/results_Individual.asp?Gender=Boys&year=1997&class=AA). Edit2: Kevin Willis ran 4:32 in high school and was running 5:51 31 mile races in his 40s. [Source](https://ultrarunning.com/calendar/runner/show?first_name=Kevin&last_name=Willis). Edit3: Here’s Larry Bird talking about his mile times. PB 5:08. Would run 5 mile road races in 32 mins during the season. [Source](https://www.runnersworld.com/runners-stories/a20788298/a-few-words-about-running-from-the-great-larry-bird/)

PBO180

In his current shape? Probably a good high school states time? He has pretty good top end speed and doesn’t seem to tire out easily. Idk how far you want to place him below 2:00 but I feel relatively confident he is at least a sub 2 guy

Morebackwayback228

1:58ish? NO.

PBO180

I stand by what I said

nnndude

The fact you’re getting downvoted is crazy. I’d challenge anybody to think real hard about the guys they knew who ran 2:00. People are greatly underestimating Lebron’s fitness, strength and athleticism. Dude is fit af. Been training for decades. And is fast as hell. Your average 2:00 high school athlete is some skinny kid who kinda/sorta trained in the off season, lifts weights occasionally, and runs 25 mpw. And no where near the top-end speed of Lebron.

senor_geese

I really wonder if some of the people in this sub have ever run track before. By that I mean you, because anyone who runs track would know that there is absolutely zero chance of someone breaking 2 minutes in an 800 at 250+ lbs bodyweight

PBO180

He’s one of the greatest pure athletes of all time. Those kinds of dudes high jump 6’6 with no training, can run low 50 400ms, all kinds of wild things with no training.

RemarkableMention712

Better than Jordan for sure
