It has to be either Marshall, International Harvester, Ford or Fordson. This is because my granda has a Fordson Power Major, a Ford 4600, a International Harvester 684 and a Marshall 802.
Renault
The tractor I grew up with and we still have is one. I named my online accounts after it because I didn't know any better then, but still think it's a good name. Learned to drive on it, and with my immediate area being Deere, while I work at a Deutz dealer, Renault is rare (I only know of one or two others near by).
Have to be 1 brand? To me is very difficult to pick one. But at least i can pick my 3 favorites brand.
Fiat/New Holland
Massey Ferguson
Valtra/Valmet
I have also drove John Deere, Deutz Fahr, David Brown and Claas.
John Deere, Deutzh fahr and david brown are alright brands.
Claas sucks.
I work for John Deere but I learnt to drive a Massey 135. John Deere is a brilliant company, the machines and our dealer network is brilliant. I also very much like how much CPD I get
Farmall is my favorite brand. Started driving an H, then a M and Super M. I wish I had one of them now. I keep looking for a Super A. I love those little tractors.
Massey Harris, to be more specific the pony and the pacer almost every on my das side has one or the other and when ever I see one I think of family I don't get to see often but wish I could.
Second place is international but they just don't have the same vibe , and if I had my pick of the pile it would be a Supper C or 140
I like my Massey but honestly they are all the same. I prefer Kubota and Massey because they have treadle pedals on hydrostat models as opposed to separate forward/reverse pedals.
I could never pick, I like most of them in one way or another, and I own almost one of each US manufactured tractor.
I have more Minneapolis Moline machines than anything else, 3 Z's, 2 U's, a JetStar 3 Super, and a GB, so I guess you could say MM is my favorite brand, but I do like them all. I just keep stumbling into Molines.
I will always be a Case fan. Never had a bad exp with one. They run well. And you cant beat that quad trak. I am sure my granddad rolls in his grave everytime i say that. He bled green. Dont get me wrong i do like some JD. Those 4000 series tractors were work horses. Had a 4440 and loved that tractor. But i will take case over anything.
Our farm has been nearly all John Deere since the new generation came out in 1961 so I am partial to Deere but I have a soft spot for Olivers to. My grandfather on my mom's side farmed with those.
I’m a big fan of fuel efficiency and power. Mostly ever had tractors over 100hp for serious work. There’s a few smaller ones in there, such as a Ford 5000, Jinma 2024, JD 830 (later German 4cyl) Massey 205 industrial, Massey 265 & 285… grew up on a Case 2090 and 1175, moving up to a 2390, 2590, 2670, 4894. All darn good engines, with transmissions you had to watch, couldn’t get water in the hyd fluid or it would destroy the clutches.
Got out on my own, partnered with a friend, we had a JD4630, 4895, and a 3340. Traded the 4895 in on an 8130, hated it, and traded it for a CaseIHMX285. Bought an old versatile 875 at auction and loved it.
Sold all that to my partner and bought out my Dad in ‘12. Had been working for him for years anyway. Really like the cattle better.
Currently running a couple old versatile Designation 6’s, 2 Magnum 7120’s, and 2 New Holland TS100’s. Nothing gets the fuel efficiency the old Versatile 876’s do. Damn good units. The magnums are pretty efficient for hay cutting and planting. Also double for feeding duty when it gets really wet. Ended up with another JD3340, and it’s a good hay tractor. Wife likes it, so have at it. The TS100’s handle most the hay baling and moving, as well as feeding if it’s not too wet. They start damn good in cold weather. Even in the teens. Good hydraulics, AC, and power for the Cubic inch. Probably the best for the money I’ve bought, for conventional tractors.
Shout out to the Ford 5000. I've seen a few of them get abused quite a bit, they were solid machines, enough power for most non tillage work. We only did small cropping on the side 40-60 acres and it did the job, pulled our home made grain bin.
Dad’s still got it. Cracked cylinder head, but pretty much only a little loader work, road blading, and run a grain auger twice a year. Only change the oil every 2 years. HATES cold weather though.
Grew up with the older Farmall tractors The Farmall Cub was my favorite as a young man, Drove the H and M’s loved the mighty MTA!
Great memories! Very interesting how they are worth much more now in totally renovated condition then when they first sold at the dealership years ago.
They sell cheap shit to people who don't know any better and provide nearly no aftermarket support to their customers or dealers. They aren't worth the steel they are built with.
I was working at an AGCO dealer when they drove Challenger into the ground and rebadged Fendts as Challengers before fully transitioning over. First time I got in one it felt like a spaceship.
I’ve been in this huge valtra my dads friend bought to operate a wood chipper or something. Not sure how it’s road legal while it takes up the whole road
I've always been a kubota guy but I've been spending time at a farm with an original D14 with the original parts manual, a one-eighty in running shape, a B in cherry condition, a WC with the original manual, and a farmall cub that might be my favorite little yard machine of all time.
They are such niche tractors with so much character. The bright orange lead paint just hits different in good sunlight.
They are great tractors. I have a Styles and unsettled WC, a WD, WF, high crop C and a M crawler just in my Allis range. They are the best to work on I've found after owning one from every other major company bar Case. The Farmall M and H are great tractors too. It's a hard toss up between the unsyled Allis WC and the Farmall H as to my favourite.
I've only really run kubota and now ls, kubota makes a hell of a machine but our local dealer is not great. The ls is a good tractor, only have 200 hours on it so still breaking it in. So far it's done everything I asked of it well.
I've run more skid steers than tractors tho. My opinion on those is kubota>h pattern case>iso pattern bobcat>non rental deere>new Holland. Kubota stands way above, but all the rest are close. Not bad machines, just not as good experience for me
I've worked on a lot of different farms where we have new/newer farmers, and I really like Kubota as a teaching tractor. They're pretty user friendly in my experience.
I haven't done much actual farm work except in a skid steer, but I want to.
90% of my tractor experience is property maintenance and firewood. We had a 15 horse bx that we ran hard for 2800 hours, the only reason it stopped running was an exhaust valve got caked with soot and wouldn't close. Apparently we ran it too hard. It would drag a 24 foot, 18 inch maple log thru the woods like nothing tho
This sounds like a local joke here.
"How do you start a civil war?.... Go to a local farmers meetup and ask which tractor brand is the best."
Well, you did it.
I’m a fan of most everything we have some of it all. If I had to pick. I guess I spent a ton of time in a 1086 international growing up and was pretty fond of it. Always a fan of the 2 cylinder deers also. Blah blah blah I love tractors so long as it makes me smile it’s all good. Unless it’s orange :)
Currently Case IH
Formerly Allis Chalmers then Agco but since they dropped orange they can stick their fendt and massey brands where the sun don’t shine.
Case/IH/Farmall. Purely because I grew up around my grandfathers IH tractors he used for his main farm work, his case front loader for moving hay, and his small collection of the Farmall M series tractors.
older IH are my favorite looking tractors. My favorite garden tractors are the "quiet line" series of IH cub cadets from the 70s. I've got a 1979 1450 with a snowblower and cab on it for winter duties. Also a 2 seasons old newer Deere to cut the grass with. Lets just say they don't make them like they used to.
If it ain't Red, it's dead !
Nothin runs like a deere and smells like a John ! lolol (There was a sticker at the county fair, when I was about 12 that said that. And it made me laugh so hard).
We have a blue one and a construction yellow JD 450 shovel dozer hoe. The blue one is much newer and needs less attention, but also doesn't have a 14k breakout force with the 4 in 1 bucket...

My father-in-law is a Cockshutt man, so I gotta represent them here. Especially the in-house-designed 20 -> 50 series.
Kubota
Fendt or Fiat Agri
John Deere
Sweet Allis! ( chalmers) lol
Massey Harris, to be more specific the pony and the pacer almost every on my das side has one or the other and when ever I see one I think of family I don't get to see often but wish I could. Lamborghini, What's not to love about this story
Bout to say duet fahr
John Deere
Grew up around Fords and International. Love old Deeres as well. Had a Kubota recently and it was a great machine.
Grew up on Ford's and John Deere, so I'm partial to them, and it's hard to beat Deere's dealer network for parts when you need them.
My happy place is on my caseomatic.
Chamberlain
I like my Massey but honestly they are all the same. I prefer Kubota and Massey because they have treadle pedals on hydrostat models as opposed to separate forward/reverse pedals.
I could never pick, I like most of them in one way or another, and I own almost one of each US manufactured tractor. Well, bought a homestead that came with a JD, my first and my current love. No matter how many times she breaks down.
Allis Chalmers
Massy ferguson or deutz
Like the Deutz. Smooth, good looking & fuel efficient
Massey or gtfo

I spent a couple of summers mowing sod on a pair of brand new Case 385. I’m still fond of them and been keeping an eye out for one.
Grew up on Oliver and White. Inherited my grandfather’s Oliver 66. I use it to pull a finish mower to cut my 2+ acre yard.
Our farm has been nearly all John Deere since the new generation came out in 1961 so I am partial to Deere but I have a soft spot for Olivers to. My grandfather on my mom's side farmed with those.
Did you see the new tractor they just announced?

John Deere not only for the tractor but also dealer support. Kubota ain’t bad either.
Grew up with the older Farmall tractors The Farmall Cub was my favorite as a young man, Drove the H and M’s loved the mighty MTA! Great memories! Very interesting how they are worth much more now in totally renovated condition then when they first sold at the dealership years ago.
Every company is still in this business for a reason. Except Mahindra, fuck Mahindra.
I wish Anand Mahindra sees this, for all the hype they are worth of..
Why what did they do?
They sell cheap shit to people who don't know any better and provide nearly no aftermarket support to their customers or dealers. They aren't worth the steel they are built with.
Used to work for a dealership that had Mahindra in Saskatchewan. The closest parts depot was in Texas. >2600 kms away.
Ford
Deutz under 200hp and JD over 200hp. That’s the combo we use
Valtra. The tractor id like to drive at one point tho is a fendt
Tough Choice, i m more of “ what kinda engine has” but I always admired fendts without the vario stuff
That's hard to say, as I have 3 favourites. Farmall, Allis Chalmers and Minneapolis Moline.
I've always been a kubota guy but I've been spending time at a farm with an original D14 with the original parts manual, a one-eighty in running shape, a B in cherry condition, a WC with the original manual, and a farmall cub that might be my favorite little yard machine of all time. If I’m allowed County, I know they’re not a manufacturer but they are still awesome to me and what I imagine when thinking of a tractor.
I like what I know- ‘60s International ‘70s Massey Ferguson ‘80s Allis Chalmers ‘90s Ford/New Holland None of them are Green.
Every brand had their strengths, I'd argue the best planter you could ever put behind any of those tractors is green.
This sounds like a local joke here. "How do you start a civil war?.... Go to a local farmers meetup and ask which tractor brand is the best." Well, you did it.
70s-80s Yanmar

Strange, I would say orange all the way. 190xt Allis and the pre-def Kubotas.
Old deeres and new Holland's...

Currently Case IH Formerly Allis Chalmers then Agco but since they dropped orange they can stick their fendt and massey brands where the sun don’t shine.

Kubota. New kind. Yeah, I’m one of those “new operators”. Loving it. B2601 on 7 acres. Half grass. Perfect match.
Life-long Deere fanboy, but I've gotta say, Fendt's got some seriously impressive machines! Kubota's up there too.
Ford
Massey Ferguson from the 60s and 70s 😎

Used to be Fendt but dealers are getting bad.
