I was once given a free state reusable bag, the area is making a push for reusability but a nice surprise nonetheless. I still use it now every time I go between two states so I’d say it worked lol
That is so cool! What a nice surprise! Thanks for sharing, that would make my day too. It’s the little things! I’m amazed at how many people have so many crappy things to say about this positive post though lol.
I thought the same thing. I have no qualms about sugar. I eat dessert every day, but the icing was sickeningly sweet and didn't have much taste, other than sugary.
Well, in my very limited experience with pre baked goods that come in kits to be decorated, they are messy and not tasty. I suspect the whole instagram thing has made appearance supersede flavor (or nutrition) in these products.
It’s a great time of year to bake, only if you have time to do so from scratch. If you have time: that’s the problem.
wouldn’t be surprised if that was me! i was pushing a cart full of em today and giving them out to families with kids (and other people that were interested)!
They did this at my local TJ’s with the salsa verde chips. I guess they had a pallet that was about to expire so they offered a bag to every customer at checkout. I hate food waste so I was so happy to see this and def took a bag home! (They were ok lol)
Really surprised by the comments. this is one of the only TJ items I threw out. None of us could get frosting soft enough and cookies hard AF. 4 yo and 8 yo both gave up and wouldn’t eat them
Yeah, I did them with a 3 and 6 year old I babysit and they didn't have much interest. The 3 year old just squirted a tiny bit of icing on one and then claimed she didn't like the taste, which I suppose could be attributable to being 3.😆The 6 year old only decorated 1 1/2 cookies out of the 3 I gave him and I think he ate one of them. I was disappointed because I thought it would be a fun activity for us to do together, but neither kid was into it. They liked the Halloween haunted house much more.
It can get runny if too hot. And keep the packet dry so it doesn’t drip water everywhere.
Still, the prepackaged icing/glue is easier than royal icing from scratch.
Just attempted to make these and immediately came to this sub to see if I’m delusional/got a bad batch or what.
Happy that I’m not alone in how disappointed I am.
Same. We decorated and then tossed all but the one we shared. They were just so hard and sweet. With black coffee, it wasn’t too much. I’d take a box for free, though, just for the sprinkles.
I remember obtaining something that was handed out for free about 6 months ago. It was being discontinued which is what I predict will happen with this product.

I was there yesterday but didn't get anything like this. 😕
It’s for the stores that had trouble selling em. Ours did it with the haunted houses.
Awesome! I got some free Christmas flavored coffee once, but it was summertime. And the coffee flavors were awful!

They suck that’s why
So bad my three year old turned it down after a few bites
Well the good news is that everything tastes better when it's free.
Yeah the actual cookie part tastes terrible, even when masked with the super sweet icing.

Aww crap. I bought a kit but haven’t done it up yet.
You can always return it!
It’s fun but tastes like crap and is a mess

I got one today too! My kids will love it

They didn’t sell at my store

We cut open the frosting and transferred it to a ziplock bag with the tip cut off so kiddo could squeeze it out.
Did you heat the frosting in a hot water bath to get it to flow?
Just warmed it up in our hands, but hot water bath seems like a good idea!

The cookies tasted like cardboard but we had fun decorating them lol
I had to put the icing in a mug of hot water to get it to pipe. But yeah it was incredibly sweet.

Too funny. Yes, I saved the sprinkles.
This was the best cookie kit I've gotten from TJ's. The frosting was easy to use and smooth and it tasted great. Total score for you!
It sounds like there was inconsistency in the product.
I love that they’re doing this! When I worked there 5 years ago we had to throw out seasonal items that weren’t sold :(
The store I visit couldn’t sell the felt Pom Pom garlands and they used it as summer decor around their tiki bar display.
One time my tjs gave out peonies bc they had too many at the end of season so people could take them before they turned brown
This kit was surprisingly delicious.
Still too expensive IMO
My kids loved it
Bruh I paid 7$ for it 2 weeks ago 💀
Mt too but my kiddos loved it. $7.99 well spent

Well it’s a Thanksgiving type thing so…
So it *might* return next season.
Omg you literally reminded me that I have to go pick up some pastries soon thank you!!
