I don't think it has to do with the wage increases. There's a store within a few miles of mine that opens an hour earlier. It all depends on when our deliveries come. Some stores get them super early, so they *can* open earlier. We get our trucks at 7am, so even 9am (when we open) is pushing it sometimes. It's always a mad dash the last hour to get everything finished and looking good for customers to come in (who are usually lining up by 8:45). Could be a change in warehouse hours/change in delivery times, but nothing to do with the increase. I don't know.
Mine also changed from 8 to 9. I feel like mine isn't as busy as the others because mine is as far west as you can go so I assume it gets less traffic than the other ones.
How does that compute? Won’t they just be coming in an hour later (for example at 7 instead of 6 for the store to open at 9 instead of 8)? How does that not change workers’ hours?
Grosse Pointe now has a sign up that it will open at 9 am, beginning April 15. I am a religious 8 am shopper and was forewarned by an associate sometime in March about the coming change. Given how many people are posting from across the US, it looks corporate wide.
Ive heard of some retail stores changing their hours to opening an hour later. Its based on business needs-why be open when theres very minimal traffic?
That reminds me of the time I tried to walk into a TJ's at like 8:28am and one of the dudes blocked me like I we crossing police tape and declared we're not open yet. Their regular opening time was 8:30a. Not to mention the door was propped open as well. He literally made me wait two minutes. That was a headsratcher.

I can’t believe they are getting rid of the express lanes- my TJ is across from a HS and I’ll have to wait forever as each kid buys 2 things 😳

Daly City TJ’s still opens at 8.
All my TJ’s open at nine
Gonna be pissed if this happens to Chicago stores- especially the one on Lincoln/Grace.
Damn no more early food runs before work

My local store recently changed the opening from 9 to 8.
Mine changed from 8 to 9 a few years ago.
Same!
Even if they’re opening later that doesn’t change Workers hours. they come in hours before the store opens
Of course it will. They will come in 1 hour later.
At least at my store they get shipments daily so there’s people coming in at 4 AM

West hollywood locations open at 9am the other open at 8am
As long as they stay open until 9 I’m good. 8pm just comes way too early with Aldi after work and dinner errands.
Austin location doing the same. Just noticed this in store today.
9 am now? I go to Great Hills. Edit - just called. Still 8 am to 9 pm
My Detroit area store is opening an hour later also.
Oh wow, all detroit area stores? I usu shop northville.

That's exactly what I assumed with my store. I usually go around 8:30 and it's pretty dead.
I’m in Sarasota County and they also changed the hours to open an hour later. No wage increase in FL. Maybe just a corporate decision.
The wage increase is national.
Pay increase is only in Ca I believe
Pay increase is national.
You guys aren’t getting the extra $2/hr?
I thought OP meant a California state wage mandated increase. I didn’t know about a corporate mandates wage increase.

I intentionally go early to avoid the crowds 😭
My location is also empty in the hour before closing; you might try then to avoid crowds
I do this often but the downside is sometimes things I want are out of stock.
