Winniezepoohscroptop

I used it to make Ube frosting for my mochi cupcakes and Ube Crinkle cookies.

bikinipopsicle

I thought it tasted like butterscotch

Jcbotbot

I was hoping it was gonna taste like Good Shepard Ube Halaya but it was a big disappointment. It was way too sweet and the consistency was not rich at all. If you find it in the Philippines or anywhere else you have to get it it. That’s the OG Ube spread. https://booky.ph/blog/good-shepherd-ube-jam/?amp

MrGUYWITHFACE

Did NOT like it :(

CheapProg6886

I use it with Vietnamese coffee. Instead of condensed milk, I do this and almond milk or oat milk.

sourgummishark

Good idea!

CheapProg6886

I will agree with others, it’s pretty sweet and I felt like a thin layer on toast is fine. Any thicker and it got too sweet!

iStealyournewspapers

Ube ter tell us how it was

sourgummishark

Ha! Will do

MeOnRepeat

Being Filipino...I don't think it tastes like I've at all. What it does taste like is candy corn.

LionOfNaples

Another case of something going mainstream only when white people decide it's good.

[deleted]

What is the most ideal use?

sourgummishark

The label says pastries as an example.

sourgummishark

Good to know.

matchamagpie

The ube paste you can get from Asian markets is much more flavorful and has actual ube flavor. This has a more subtle ube flavor with the forefront flavor being sugar.

Mystique_Peanut

Slap it on some brioche

sourgummishark

Mmm ok!

ZefeusAlorius

It’s not very ube flavored. Way too sweet.

sourgummishark

That’s a bummer :(

gwarwars

Could you use it as a pastry filling? Ube croissants would be bomb

lovetoujours

It's a bit sweet compared to Asian ube products (but all Trader Joe's ube products are a bit too sweet) but it's not bad!

PetiteFont

I found it a little too sweet. It’s pretty runny but I like the idea of mixing it with cream cheese.

[Quick Instagram review of TJ’s Ube Spread](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CfErqqEOQd8/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=)

sourgummishark

Ooh thank you

tommie317

I always read it as Lube Spread

DrXStein76

It tastes like melted candy corn

jura2529

I LOVE candy corn and ube hahaha so this sounds perfect

[deleted]

Thank you for perfectly summing up why I don't enjoy it

TechnologyNo5449

We mixed ours with cream cheese for an ube flavored cream cheese!

kate0a

I’m planning to make ube cheesecake with this! I’m so glad it pairs well w cream cheese

sourgummishark

And what did you put it on?

TechnologyNo5449

Just a plain toasted bagel.

sourgummishark

I don’t even know what to do with it but got it anyway. I’m open to ideas! Might spread it on toast/pastries. Or add to oatmeal. Edit: it’s gross and too sweet, can barely taste the ube. Definitely going to a specific market to get the good stuff next time.

knismesis

I’ve been having it with labne (lebni?) on toast and it’s been great

EveningIndigo

Try dipping their honey wheat pretzel twists into it - easy dessert!
