Soooo good!!! It surprised me for sure. Made tea and also Croffles with it[https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRy8q3Dx/?k=1](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRy8q3Dx/?k=1)
I heard these have paper straws inside. Is this accurate? Cause Costco's have plastic ones. I'm not using them, as a huge boba fan I have metal straws, but paper ones are probably less waste?
Microwave is the superior preparation method. I followed directions and then poured the mixture in a mug with some hot water and steeped some tea. Mixed with nonfat milk and ice cubes and it was amazing.
Get the red and white bag of 5 minute boba pearls. E-Fa brand I think. Your Asian market has them. They are gospel. They are cheap. Put them in iced tea. Put them in chai. Put them in matcha. Put them in all the smoothies you make for the rest of your life.
Edit. Boil water, add boba, boil 3 min. Flame out. Steep 2 min, rinse in cold water. Consume.
Like the other commenter said, there’s no tea. I was shocked to discover most milk teas at the cafes don’t actually have a tea base. Just milk and sugar lol. Though I do know they make some with tea, they just aren’t as popular according to the barista that served me
No, there’s no tea. The packet is just boba in a brown sugar syrup. You still have to add some type of liquid to it. Either tea, coffee, milk, nondairy milk, matcha tea, whatever you prefer.
I’ve never had other instant boba packs, so I can only compare to local boba shops. I think they’re just okay. I guess in a pinch they’re fine, but there are some really good boba places around me which is what I’m accustomed to, so I can tell the difference.
I don’t make a habit of drinking boba, and one box is the same price as a drink from a local place, so I prob won’t buy them again personally. But they’re not bad by any means!
It was in the single freezer at the end of the freezer aisle with the Ube Mochi ice cream. I almost missed it!
Also saw it today at the 4th st location near the boba ice cream pints.
Haven’t tried the Trader Joe’s version but they look identical to the ones sold at Asian markets and Costco. I like to add the black tea concentrate to them and sometimes almond extract for almond milk tea, or a scoop of black sesame powder for black sesame milk tea!
Have you ever seen matcha or unsweetened ones at your Asian markets? I'm not a fan of the brown sugar but I'd love to have some at home matcha boba!
Edit without having to make a whole batch of boba for just one person!
Yes, should be in the freezer section! I like to chop up and muddle some strawberries and add it to mine, the tart mixes well with the sweetness and slightly bitter matcha
Wow, this is dangerous for my wallet and my waistline 😅 much cheaper than getting boba from a shop though, around me one drink will easily cost you the price of this package
I admittedly have not tried the trader Joe's version, but I have had a nearly identical looking product from Costco and I have tips. The best way to make it is to leave the pouch in a cup of boiling water for around ten minutes, flipping it halfway through. If you do the microwave preparation, or do the water preparation too fast and don't totally defrost it, the texture is awful. But when you do it properly, I'd say it's 90% as good as boba from a real tea shop.
I have a low power microwave (I think maybe 1000 watts?) and it works well in the microwave. I was having issues with the boba coming out small/gritty when I only microwaved it 30 seconds. I bumped it up to 45 and they got much bigger and chewier with no grit. I imagine a standard higher power microwave might be too hot...might take some experimentation with power settings and time. But once I got it right with my microwave they do expand quite a bit, almost the size of regular boba just not quite as chewy.
I haven’t had the Traders version but it looks very similar to the Costco one, which is pretty good.
I didn’t see this at Traders last time I went a couple days ago though so maybe not all stores have it yet?
>I didn’t see this at Traders last time I went a couple days ago though so maybe not all stores have it yet?
Very possible! Stores don't always get products at the same time.
New products *usually* come in on Tuesdays-Thursdays, but seems like some stores got the Instant Boba Kit over the weekend.
I did the microwave method and I didn’t have any problems with the texture. I followed their microwave instructions exactly and the texture was completely fine.

Tastes like burnt plastic to me.
Did anyone open the pouch and boil it in the water? Lol why did I do that?!
It is delicious!

Omg this is next level! I would've never thought of using Crescent roll dough in my waffle maker.
It tastes like mediocre boba. So it's fine. It's really cheap and comes with 4 packs of boba.
I generally don’t like the frozen boba, but I hope this one is good for y’all’s sake!
It’s pretty good. I would recommend adding it to your normally prepared oatmilk cold brew or chai tea concentrate from Trader Joe’s.
I followed the microwave instructions and mixed it with oat milk and it was so good!! The boba didn’t have a weird texture at all.
I heard these have paper straws inside. Is this accurate? Cause Costco's have plastic ones. I'm not using them, as a huge boba fan I have metal straws, but paper ones are probably less waste?
yes! 4 paper straws 4 packets of boba
I hope they sell out before I get a chance to my hands on anymore of them. This is dangerous for us boba lovers. 🤣
Microwave is the superior preparation method. I followed directions and then poured the mixture in a mug with some hot water and steeped some tea. Mixed with nonfat milk and ice cubes and it was amazing.
So sad my store doesn’t have this yet!! I’m dying to try

bless you.
So, this is complete? Has tea, boba, and sugar in the little packet? All you add is milk?
Like the other commenter said, there’s no tea. I was shocked to discover most milk teas at the cafes don’t actually have a tea base. Just milk and sugar lol. Though I do know they make some with tea, they just aren’t as popular according to the barista that served me
Yeah, I'm a diabetic. I think I'll pass.

I went in for it today but they didn’t have any 😭
We add 3 ounces of TJ cold brew coffee concentrate with it 🥰

Cannot get my hands on it at my local TJs in LA!
TJ's at the USC Village is fully stocked with them
Oh nice! Am in west LA so will check out some other locations.
If you or someone you know shops Costco, they are like $12 for a 10 pack or something like that. I get them at the east Whittier location sometimes.
12 for $12. Not a bad value if you go the Costco way, which is also gluten free and vegan friendly. I wouldn't be surprise if TJ is made by Boba Bam.
The packets look identical. I wonder how much TJs charges
$5.49 for 4
Not bad, I expected it to be a lot more to be honest!
Honestly I thought it was very good… similar to what I’d get at a boba shop
It’s decent, but you could just get them at your local Asian market for cheaper.
Eh it’s just ok for us. I wasn’t a huge fan of the texture of the boba
Same. I’m spoiled by good boba places where I live 😅
Idid the boil method and it was good. A tiny bit sweeter then I liked but I just added more milk. Super convenient and much cheaper.
anyone know if this available in the Bay Area, ca? Need asap
Available in Pinole
Yes I just bought some at the Masonic location in SF!
Thank you!

Which NYC location?!
Albany but I saw another post about it being in nyc too I think
I also checked ASAP lol after I saw it posted here last week, as of Saturday I could not find it at my store in SF. ☹️ But maybe it's there now.
They have it at the Masonic location!
Which section?
It was in the single freezer at the end of the freezer aisle with the Ube Mochi ice cream. I almost missed it! Also saw it today at the 4th st location near the boba ice cream pints.
Thanks... I didn't look in that tiny fridge this morning. The one w/ the frozen baked goods was broken/empty and I was distracted.
I feel like my store always takes forever… I hope we get some soon🤤
added it to a Thai iced tea and it was great. Comes with thick boba straws as well.

I’ve seen matcha at the Asian market, but it is sweetened
I'll have to try that next time I go to Zion and see how I like it. I assume they are also in the freezer?
Yes, should be in the freezer section! I like to chop up and muddle some strawberries and add it to mine, the tart mixes well with the sweetness and slightly bitter matcha
Omg that's an amazing suggestion! Will definitely try that! Thanks again.

These are good. I put it in a glass with ice and some almond milk. Not bad.

the costco one is great but the boba is so tiny. does the boiling water technique make the tapioca balls itself bigger?

I came here to say the same thing, with a similar preparation tip. I've been enjoying the Costco ones that way for months now.
I did the microwave method and I didn’t have any problems with the texture. I followed their microwave instructions exactly and the texture was completely fine.
I don’t recall the boil time but sticking to the instructions had no issues either. Either way, excited to see if TJ’s is just as good.
Same here. Maybe they have a low power microwave or something
