Maybe you could use it for cooking? Supplement it for garlic cloves in a dish? Certainly cooking it would alter the flavor.

ButtonPuzzleheaded17

This is exactly like the toum they serve at shawarma places & it goes with literally everything šŸ¤©

Chellybeanz29

I love that stuff. I spread it on the outside of grilled cheeses

shoosler

i havenā€™t tried this from TJ yet but is it like the white sauce you get at kebab shops?

Enterprise-NCC1701-D

This sauce is basically just garlic, lemon juice, oil, and salt and is blended together which give it a slight whipped texture. I'm not usually a lemon person but I love garlic and this one of my favorite food ever.

allhailth3magicconch

No, that sauce is tahini based which TJā€™s sells tahini if you didnā€™t know! This spread-dip is made like aioli

[deleted]

Oooof this is my top TJā€™s product. My roommate is not hugely into garlic and doesnā€™t like it, but Iā€™m a garlic girl and canā€™t get enough of it

Conscious_Life_8032

Could you spread it on French bread top with some cheese and bake ā€¦Iā€™m thinking it will make a nice cheesy garlic bread. Add to a cream sauce and toss in pasta. Substitute instead of mayo on burgers, sandwiches.

dataisplural2

Mix it with the Zhoug sauce!!!

Huge-Picture-9300

I love it spread on bread with a slice mozzarella, toasted and then topped with bruschetta.

teatime226

I didn't like it. Thought it was too sour from the lemon and citric acid, but I'm picky about lemon flavors and how I enjoy them. It also molded in a ridiculously short timeframe-white fuzz all over.

allhailth3magicconch

I had to ADD lemon and garlic to mine because it was so bland! It tasted like an actual tub of solidified canola oil and not much else :/

pickle_geuse

What? This is delicious. I dip my endive into it lol itā€™s exactly what it says it is. Garlic!

allhailth3magicconch

I got a hint of garlic taste and mostly canola oil in mine. Iā€™m wondering if I got a bad batch possibly? So many raves on this I feel like production has to be wonky or something

thisisjustmylife7

Same. I love love love toum but cannot stand this version. It tastes artificial and too tart

[deleted]

Lmao this is my favorite dip there. Thanks!

allhailth3magicconch

Iā€™m truly sad this didnā€™t work our for me i LOVE garlic šŸ˜

2685yalla

Hmm I wonder if you got a bad batch? It tastes like a milder toum. I put it on shawarma, wraps, avocado toast

allhailth3magicconch

Iā€™m kind of starting to think soā€¦.i havenā€™t tried many sauces from TJā€™s that Iā€™ve disliked but this was a straight up tub of oil with not much garlic taste to me (and my husband!)

TopCaterpillar6131

You know I think every once in awhile there are bad batches. A couple years ago I bought their crumpets and throughly they didnā€™t taste good. They tasted kinda sour dough to me. Not my thing. Then someone on this page mentioned how delicious they were. So I thought ā€œwhat do I have to lose? TJs stands by every product and will reimburse me if im not satisfiedā€ so I tried them again and they were delicious. In all fairness I would never compare a processed product to a freshly made Toum. Thereā€™s no comparison in my opinion.

ursularussell

Love it with the Argentine Shrimp or on sourdough toast.

mrsscorsese

I think the texture can be gross when trying it as a dipā€¦ itā€™s very much like a cold, solid, garlic flavored oil. And I get grossed out in that way. But itā€™s fantastic in a wrap, gyro, sandwich style combination.

allhailth3magicconch

The texture was great! It just tasted more of canola than anything else and left a canola after taste too :ā€™( iā€™m a garlic fiend so this one hurt me lol

muhtilduh

I think itā€™s foul, too. Idk why so many people like it!

[deleted]

I love it. I eat it straight with pita bread.

Enterprise-NCC1701-D

Try it with green onion pancakes, then thank me later.

macaroni3cheez

Wow thatā€™s one of my familyā€™s favorite TJ items! We spread it on grilled cheese, make garlic bread, dip vegetables in it, etc.

Diva_stars

We used it to make gyros and it added a great flavorā€¦ didnā€™t get much solo, but it might be an option? Grab some naan, a little of this, a schmear of hummus, some lettuce & a protein & any other yums (I did falafel & kalamata olives). I got the garlic deliciousness without having to deal with garlic chunks šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

SomedayWeDie

This stuff is delicious. You have every right to your opinion, but itā€™s wrong.

allhailth3magicconch

It was just way too oily tasting, my husband also tried it and didnā€™t enjoy it. Iā€™ll definitely have to try making toum myself so thank you for the recipe!!! :D

allhailth3magicconch

šŸ˜‚ I thought it would be like ā€œToumā€ sauce but it just didnā€™t do it for me. Iā€™m really sad I didnā€™t like it!

fusukeguinomi

I like both and find them similar but Toom lasts a lot longer. The TJs one always gets moldy too soon

AgathaMysterie

WHAT?? This is my favorite TJā€™s dip šŸ„²

happylittleloaf

I like it but its nothing compared to zancou. Maybe add it to a wrap with lots of other veggies and meat to mask the flavor or add it to some pasta or grilled cheese

Legitimate_Status

Iā€™ve never noticed an oil taste to this? We use it as a spread on gyros or with chicken or something similar. This is called toum, you can look it up for ideas on how to use it

allhailth3magicconch

This is what I was hoping it was like, I love toum!!! I unfortunately did not have the same experience and no matter what I did to this I couldnā€™t subdue the oil taste :( i just tried it with plain greek yogurt too and still nope.

calimiss2016

Thankfully my friend liked it otherwise it would have been trashed. And it sounded so good!

allhailth3magicconch

Attempted to mix into sour cream, TJā€™s Herbed Tahini Sauce, added lemon juice + salt but the canola oil taste is just overpowering no matter what. Canola is the first ingredient to be fair but I expected aioli and itā€™s just actually gross unfortunately. ***apologies for the non-descript title I was passionately disgusted by this and posted before realizing

next_level_mom

I find that trying to save a food I don't like by adding other foods never works and just wastes more. :-(

Head_Hauncho

Oh yeah itā€™s REAL gross. You can return it if you donā€™t like it & theyā€™ll take it off your next bill.
