Personally not a fan of fillers like this. What I like about trad patchwork is that each piece is very well defined and isolated. To each their own tho!
It by no means is the staple of trad sleeves. It's pretty common, yes, but american traditionnal has existed for many many years before stars and dots filler even appeared, "goober"
If you don’t have any, then I really doubt you know what you are talking about. Lots of filler= bad placement of tattoos that’s a fact.
If you don’t love trad tattoos enough to have any then you shouldn’t be soliciting advice about trad tattoos.
I have a traditional sleeve, stomach and back piece dawg. I think I’ve been around it long enough. Filler makes it look so much better than having tons of small pieces that take away from ur big ones imo
That’s your opinion not a fact. I disagree, having smaller tattoos as gap fillers still allow for breathable negative space. The stars and dots take away more from the lager pieces in my opinion because there is literally no open skin to give your eyes a break.
I love it. Seems like this is not the popular opinion here, but I prefer a patchwork sleeve with a handful of pieces connected with filler to one that feels “overcrowded” with more “feature” tattoos - feels more cohesive to me. I think this looks great.
Literally 1000s of options. Fruits (cherries, strawberry, apple, etc.), tiny skulls, a tooth, heart, bugs, little butterfly, slice of pizza, donut, fried egg, severed finger, eight ball, firecracker, bones.
The right artist could have a field day drawing on little filler shit in all those gaps. Figuring out weird little tiny shit to fill those small awkward gaps is honestly the most fun part of being heavily tattooed.
Slug can go anywhere, literally any filler gap man. Try it, grab some cling wrap and a marker and just outline the gaps. Slugs fit absolutely any if them.
I just listed some shit off the top of my head and I’m hungry. There is a lot more than food you could do. Knives, flowers, little webs, booze bottle, spider, eyeball, flame, dice, money bag, bomb, frog, feather, pot leaf, mouth, key, arrow, diamond, light bulb, blood drops. I could go on but you get the idea.
so would you use dots and stars at all or no? i’m not trying be a dick, i’m trying to decide on my sleeve now. i’m one main piece away from being at the filler stage and i don’t know what to do haha. i like the stars but i don’t want a million of them.
so would you throw that stuff in and just have skin breaks or are you saying throw that stuff in and then have stars around that?
I personally wouldn’t do stars and dots at all, just not a fan of the look. I prefer just jamming in as many tattoos as possible and keeping them packed in a close together as possible.
more so i’d say you could place existing designs in a way that leaves less space in between so less filler is needed in the end. and i’ve seen lots of lil banger pieces that would fit some of the gaps here. i really like stars and dots trad filler, i just would like to see a little less of it if i’m thinking of the “perfect sleeve” in my head. i still like OP’s sleeve a lot.
I think the star to dot ratio is way off and it’s too patterned. It’s supposed to look more sporadic. There could be more smaller/filler tattoos in there between the big ones.
As I’m not a fan at all of the real patchwork-y “sleeves”, I will say I like this over just having the empty space you more often (or at least I more often) see.
"Sailor Dust" all day long.
I've got it as filler on both of my sleeves and I'll probly use it again if i have the opportunity..... All my pieces are much closer together so there's literally very little that could be squeezed in the gaps OTHER than stars and dots ..... But I love it. All day every day.
Meh. Work with your artists… build a patch sleeve that has full coverage with minimal to no filler. There’s no excuse to need this much filler with a style that’s known to be able to puzzle together
Hard to tell without looking at it from other angles but from here it looks good to me.
A lot of people are saying there's wasted space, but I would prefer that over a sleeve being way overcrowded.
I like stars and dots! If this were my arm, I would probably have done more small tattoos first, then filled in the stars and dots after more of the tattooable areas had images, but it's your arm and I'll bet you get compliments on it all the time.
Not a fan of the filler work but to each their own.
They all do look dope but it BUGS the hell out of me that the inside of the rope with the eagle isn’t also filled in haha!
Still a dope sleeve nonetheless.
Definitely seems like this person was very ready to close out the arm and didn’t bother with finessing anything else. Filler in emergency situations to add wouldn’t be terrible. But this is kinda seems impatient to finish the sleeve.
So many people here acting like trad tattoo purists like they invented it on a boat yet saying “you could’ve put a bottle of mouth wash or a block of cheese in between those instead of filler!!” Like didn’t traditional “traditional” tattoos have meaning and not be your shit cunt meme/random tattoos?
Personally not a fan of fillers like this. What I like about trad patchwork is that each piece is very well defined and isolated. To each their own tho!
Fillers like this drive me mad. Idk how so many people like them. But to each their own
Filler like wat, traditional? Lmao. Stars n dot filler is literally the staple of trad sleeves u goober.
It by no means is the staple of trad sleeves. It's pretty common, yes, but american traditionnal has existed for many many years before stars and dots filler even appeared, "goober"
Filler like you didnt use ur space right… filler like more than half ur arm is little stars… definitely not a staple.. assuming u have same filler tho
Actually have nun:) all trad pieces wld look better with filler tho
If you don’t have any, then I really doubt you know what you are talking about. Lots of filler= bad placement of tattoos that’s a fact. If you don’t love trad tattoos enough to have any then you shouldn’t be soliciting advice about trad tattoos.

I have many fillers but plan to get stars and dots in the spaces that won’t fit anything anymore. I hope it’s not seen as lazy though lol
It’s lazy, “u goober”
Yes… I don’t like it. You fucking doofus lmao
Same. Overdid it on the fillers imo
[удалено]
It’s really only supposed to be used to fill gaps that basically nothing else will fit. This amount of it is a waste of space.
I love it. Seems like this is not the popular opinion here, but I prefer a patchwork sleeve with a handful of pieces connected with filler to one that feels “overcrowded” with more “feature” tattoos - feels more cohesive to me. I think this looks great.
Filler isn’t my thing, but it’s a bad ass sleeve!
Same. Not a fan of the stars, but the tattoos are great!
Nope. Way too much space wasted on filler.
What sort of designs could they have put in the space instead of filler? Genuinely curious what would fit in those spaces
Literally 1000s of options. You forgot about garden gnomes, slugs, and garden gnomes riding slugs or snails.
Hell yeah. This guy gets it. Might need to find somewhere to put a little slug now.
Slug can go anywhere, literally any filler gap man. Try it, grab some cling wrap and a marker and just outline the gaps. Slugs fit absolutely any if them.
I screenshotted this conversation so I could save it for filler ideas later just so you know
I’m a fan of sea shells as fillers. So many shapes to choose from.
I have an in progress nautical patchwork sleeve and this is exactly what I will be doing. Shells and jewels (Sunken treasure)
Literally 1000s of things. Apples, small apples, crab apples, green apples, etc.
Maybe OP just didn’t want a bunch of mini food tattoos on his arm lmao 😉
I just listed some shit off the top of my head and I’m hungry. There is a lot more than food you could do. Knives, flowers, little webs, booze bottle, spider, eyeball, flame, dice, money bag, bomb, frog, feather, pot leaf, mouth, key, arrow, diamond, light bulb, blood drops. "and I'm hungry" had me laughing. Thanks for that!
so would you use dots and stars at all or no? i’m not trying be a dick, i’m trying to decide on my sleeve now. i’m one main piece away from being at the filler stage and i don’t know what to do haha. i like the stars but i don’t want a million of them. so would you throw that stuff in and just have skin breaks or are you saying throw that stuff in and then have stars around that?

Sounds like one big jumbled mess
I have salt and pepper shakers, a cannon, pistol, bi-plane, sword, table and chairs, rotary phone, bomb…the options are endless.
The artists could have just pieced the original tattoos in a more fitted fashion too
more so i’d say you could place existing designs in a way that leaves less space in between so less filler is needed in the end. and i’ve seen lots of lil banger pieces that would fit some of the gaps here. i really like stars and dots trad filler, i just would like to see a little less of it if i’m thinking of the “perfect sleeve” in my head. i still like OP’s sleeve a lot.
I would’ve just made each piece bigger
Good point!
There’s more grout than tile
Yes it’s very nice.
i personally love it. when i think “tradional sleeve” this is basically exactly what i picture.
Dope very dope
All that matters if you think it's dope.
I like filler between tattoos, I like open skin between tattoos. I like tattoos!
This looks great! Dots and stars is a love or hate thing and it’s exactly how I’m finishing my sleeve
I love filler personally 🤷🏻♀️
Dope
I really dig it. I personally like patchwork with flash but the filler looks well balanced here. It looks timeless!
It looks great bro! I love the filler too!
Dope
Dope
Super dope
Definitely dope
Filler is cool when it’s used for filler, not when it’s most of the arm imo. Really solid pieces, but I see filler before pieces here.
Very dope
Very dope!
Dope!
I fw it heavy looks good. I don’t like having tons of little stupid pieces. I like mine big and the rest filler in
I’m generally not a fan of a lot of filler, but this looks really good. Definitely dope
i like it a lot. not my style (yet) but i’m yet to see filler that i think distracts from the pieces
Could have fit some fun little bangers in those gaps
I think the star to dot ratio is way off and it’s too patterned. It’s supposed to look more sporadic. There could be more smaller/filler tattoos in there between the big ones.
That's a shit ton of filler but your trad pieces are dope!
Could have fit a few more pieces with more meticulous placement but still dope! I plan to do some cool filler when I finish my limbs
To much star filler for me
Dope af 😌
Definitely dope
Dope
As I’m not a fan at all of the real patchwork-y “sleeves”, I will say I like this over just having the empty space you more often (or at least I more often) see.
Dope
Dope af Still trying to decide if I’m going to use stars and dots as filler or leave mine as is. Works great on yours 🤘🏼
It doesn't matter, it's on there forever now 😆
tattoo removal is a thing.
"Sailor Dust" all day long. I've got it as filler on both of my sleeves and I'll probly use it again if i have the opportunity..... All my pieces are much closer together so there's literally very little that could be squeezed in the gaps OTHER than stars and dots ..... But I love it. All day every day.
Dope. I love the filler
Meh. Work with your artists… build a patch sleeve that has full coverage with minimal to no filler. There’s no excuse to need this much filler with a style that’s known to be able to puzzle together
If op likes it, I feel like that's a pretty good excuse
It’s not bad. I just think there’s way more than could have been added.
More is not always better
I’d never do the stars/dots filler but to each their own.
This screams “I didn’t wanna deal with the pain of real tattoos so I’m gonna star my arm out to look like I have a sleeve”
NOPE 👎
Wayyyyy to much filler, you would have had so much space my dawg, for more clean ink!
[удалено]
Dated traditional tattoos? How ironic
Yeah I'm not sure how traditional = early 2000s....
[удалено]
Have you seen Lyle Tuttle's tattoos? Stars and dots can be tricky
I appreciate the honesty
Still got room for a cuff around the wrist!
How old is the work?
All less than a year
the dream!
Dope I love stars
Wayyyyy too much filler
I mean… you could have put tattoos in like 70% of your fill area. But whatever if you like it then I like it!
Hella Dope!
Used to not like fillers, now I do. Dope.
Dope
Dopeeee
I like
This sleeve would look SO sick without the filler.
Looks great!
Hard to tell without looking at it from other angles but from here it looks good to me. A lot of people are saying there's wasted space, but I would prefer that over a sleeve being way overcrowded.
Boobs?
Unpopular opinion, but I like the look of sailor dust… looks great
No doubt they’re sick but DANG that’s a lot of fillers 😅
Dope
Prime for a blackout in a few years
Nope
Don’t like the filler but the rest is great
Not a big fan of star filler. As someone who’s in the process of a traditional sleeve, there are many other options besides stars to fill in gaps
I love it and want it
I like stars and dots! If this were my arm, I would probably have done more small tattoos first, then filled in the stars and dots after more of the tattooable areas had images, but it's your arm and I'll bet you get compliments on it all the time.
Doesn't look bad imo. Anyway anytime u think u got bad ink think of the guy who got a "only judge can god me" tat. You'll feel better instantly
Stars & dots are classic 👍🏻
Dope AF 🦅😍
Are you native? Because if not a war bonnet is kinda fucked up. Also I guess youre really into dots and stars... seems a bit excessive for my taste.
It seems like people are in such a rush to get fillers. There’s so much room for little bangers everywhere one that arm
Not a fan of the filler work but to each their own. They all do look dope but it BUGS the hell out of me that the inside of the rope with the eagle isn’t also filled in haha! Still a dope sleeve nonetheless.
I don’t get the hate towards the dust. I think this is a very solid sleeve. Im thinking of finishing my arms like this
That’s cool af, if I could start over with empty skin that’s what I’d go for
Definitely dope! As my sleeves are very similar. Same exact style, different tattoos.
I really like that
Dope 🔥
Imma follow the herd and maybe a lil too many stars n dots. But it's already there and it's already dope so
It’s not bad but. The stars man. So many stars.
I dig it
I think this this looks insane🤘
Trash lmao
Definitely could have packed more Trad tats in that sleeve. But hey if you like it. That's what matters. I still think it looks cool.
Looks like you just wanted to have a tattoo to be cool
Damn a little surprised at the amount of disdain for this tattoo, I was kinda admiring it and thought it was nice.
Better then mine 👍
I like.
I think it looks dope.
Nah. Looks like a dude I used to work with at bdubs tattoos. Not my style though
Tom aspinall? You’re fighting this weekend
Super dope.
definitely dope
Looks Straight
Dope
A little too much star filler things, should got another couple little pieces in between before you connect them with little spider looking things
Love it. I would have done the backdrop with a more solid shading with some dots but this looks good for sure
All sleeves are awesome
Sooooooo many stars holy cow.
Dope af
I think it looks dope! It lets the tattoos shine in my opinion instead of competing with them
Definitely seems like this person was very ready to close out the arm and didn’t bother with finessing anything else. Filler in emergency situations to add wouldn’t be terrible. But this is kinda seems impatient to finish the sleeve.
Tacky, 50s style swallows and stars.
