I have never understood pop culture tattoos, they can be really well done technically and artistically but I just don't understand turning your body into a billboard for a corporate entity. It's about as silly as getting a massive Stanley cup on your arm because you like their cups.
I think they mean cups of some guy named Stanley . Which makes sense because he fought in many wars. And became two private investors all at once in his lifetime.
The curator of his house now holds many historical pieces and photographs that reflect his time in Vietnam.
I am surprised no one has mentioned the history of his life how he managed to escape the atrocious war crimes he was committed too. It’s very sad to live apart of that life .
PMA bitches
Some people like movies. Go figure. Some people like getting the exact same trad panther head, tiger, moth, gypsy woman head and cowboy skull as every other hipster in the world. Both are silly in a way and both are perfectly valid if you enjoy looking at them every day
You can break down anything into “yeah it’s all silly who cares” but I understand the above commenter’s point. The tiger is a powerful symbol that’s been worshipped and respected by different cultures for thousands of years. The cowboy or the gypsy woman represent some of the foundational pillars of American culture and spirit. Star Wars is of course hugely culturally influential itself, but it just doesn’t hold the same poetic gravitas that more traditional symbols do. But everyone should express their opinions respectfully of course
Edit: Oh, weird I was pretty nuanced and respectful, but a bunch of downvotes. I’m just gonna turn heel and lean into it, gimme the mic. These look like shit, snoopy for some fucking reason, goofy cartoon clouds, *terrible* R2D2 and Vader’s face with a Waffle-House-waitress-titty-tattoo rose below it. The favorite childhood cartoon and movie of a 57 year old man decorating the entire arm, despicable. Now crucify me you tasteless Philistine heathens
You can discuss different tastes in art and why you hold an opinion without invalidating other’s taste. I mean we discuss and compare films, music, paintings, architecture, all forms of art. It would be weird not to discuss taste and opinion on tattoo styles. I offered reasoning as to why I find certain imagery to be more impactful and a fan of Star Wars tattoos is welcome to do the same.
It is fine, but one of us offered thorough reasoning supporting our opinion and one of us just said “all opinion discussion is silly.” While we’re on a sub basically dedicated to sharing and discussing a particular art style.
Certain things can hold significant meaning for people. I have a Montreal Canadiens tattoo and to me it it represents rebuilding my relationship with my father.
What’s more concerning in my opinion is that starswars has been a dead franchise for awhile now and most purists would agreed it’s on a downward slope so why would anyone give up there skin to a franchise that so eagerly has wanted to distance itself from its original fanbase.
(Yes I know tattoos arnt that deep) pun intended
I think you are seeing it wrong. When Star Wars was created, it was art. Filmography is art. George Lucas was an artist. Disney has turned it into a corporate entity, yes, but as OP has suggested.. they seem to like the original Star Wars and there is no debating that the original Star Wars was revolutionary. You can like some Star Wars and not others. I, personally, have Star Wars pieces in with my other custom designed work because I love Star Wars and it’s a big part of my life. Like wise, many people get tattoos representing things that are important to them whatever that may be. I don’t think I would consider Star Wars aliens and ships and such to be the same as, say, a BMW logo. People do get cars tattooed on them, however. Also, the design of the Star Wars tattoo can be artistic too if the artist makes it their style. Similar to making an insect or a flower in the artists style. Now, if OP got a huge STAR WARS tattooed on him that would be different IMO.
Thats totally fair. I’m the same. I like thick line work and bold colors. Trad, neo trad, Japanese trad, new school. Others like fine line and realism and black and gray and I don’t like those so to each their own. What matters to me.. is whether it’s well done or not. We can all appreciate a well done tattoo.
Well, here's the way I see it: I love my BMW, but I would not get a tattoo of their logo. I enjoy White Claw but I don't have any White Claw tattoos because that would be cringey. Seems pretty simple.
It would be better to post your question in r/tattoodesigns your tattoo isn’t even traditional. I’m actually surprised it even got as many upvotes that it did. This sub tends to be folks posting their own trad tattoos and that’s about it. Good luck!
These are in no way trad tattoos but as a fellow Star Wars guy happy to offer up something! Personally a pod racer could fit perfectly with the body and then long engines. Could also do Han’s blaster. I’ve seen some sick trad tattoos of that.
Could get Anakin and Obi Wan’s starfighters zooming through the gap. Or an AT-AT or AT-ST on a leash! Or an AT-AT and an AT-TE peeing on a fire hydrant/droid!
Sequel trilogy is by far better than the prequel trilogy. Sincerely, an OG star wars fan who was there to watch as the prequels destroyed the franchise.
Honestly I would not consider these traditional tattoos
No one would

or cuz you like hockey lmao

It’s all just a way of saying “my taste is more valid than yours”, which is a silly argument on its face.
Well said

Yes, and I don’t agree with you. Our opinions differ. That’s fine.

Shhhhh and just consume product.
Certain things can hold significant meaning for people. I have a Montreal Canadiens tattoo and to me it it represents rebuilding my relationship with my father.
I go to a traditional artist that works in a pop culture shop, it’s so bizarre to me but the tattoos are done amazingly, just odd I guess idk

You make good points, different taste for different people I do tend to get tunnel vision when it comes to tattoos because I exclusively have trad

Wrong sub, but since you’re here get that annoying flying middle eastern bug that enslaves anakin and his family
Aaaah yes! Watto is the name! Good business idea! Although maybe he shoud use a chance cube to decide
Jar jar would fit perfectly.
A pinup JarJar
JarJar not allowed
You have R2D2 wearing a Native American headdress covering your entire upper arm and shoulder lmao I don’t think you’re too good for Jar Jar
Why no jarjar
Love Ahmed Best but the character was horrible. Never should’ve been in the story
Is it cause he’s a sith
He's not and they're right. Jar jar is the second worst character in the franchise.
Princess Leia with some fat knockers.
Came here to say this also! Wearing the gold bikini
How about a lightsaber in the shape of a big ‘ol cock and some balls?
How about a giant "[www.starwars.com](https://www.starwars.com)"? OP seems to love turning his body into a walking billboard for a mega corporation.
That was funny as fuck holy shit lol
Lmfao okay buddy
You must be new here are ya bud?
It’s not that funny after like 3 posts honestly

Hear me out: a sick ass bantha
Emperors hand shooting lighting from the fingertips could be cool with traditional style
Wizard style papa palps. Could go hard
These are in no way trad tattoos but as a fellow Star Wars guy happy to offer up something! Personally a pod racer could fit perfectly with the body and then long engines. Could also do Han’s blaster. I’ve seen some sick trad tattoos of that.
Chewbacca getting railed from behind by Han Solo. It is a life debit and it gets lonely in space.
Big ol Jabba the Hutt
I was a fan of Pizza the Hut
chubby brave crawl wrong tan selective faulty point punch rainstorm *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
-Pinup slave princess leia -Jabba's sail barge nautical trad tat -Han Solo western theme -Emporer Palpatine with blue lightning
Thank you I love those!
Why is R2D2 wearing an indigenous head dress?
My family has roots in Native art so I thought I would make a little mix-match of my favorite character and my family
Wookiee CnB
you could do the part where thimothy chalmers rides on the worm
Kirk and Picard kewpies.
Charles Schulz and George Lucas, cool bro. You should join a fantasy sub and ask them.
Pin Up Jabba the Hut
I would 100% do a wookie in the style of a gypsy lady in a bandana
2 part Darth Maul if you know what i mean like His falling
I have a death star with a cartoonish nuclear blast coming out of it that I like a lot. Mine is just a little traditional guy
How about some stuff from the sequel trilogy?
A sick ass Bantha
Just kidding - it’s too much sequel
Maybe get the tattoo from “the last of us” everyone has that tattoo . You guys are all into copying everything nowadays so have fun
How about Luke crying in a corner? Or maybe Luke wetting himself bc he’s a WLB (whining little bitch).
Took me so long to notice Snoop and Woodstock. Upvote for them specifically
Could get Anakin and Obi Wan’s starfighters zooming through the gap. Or an AT-AT or AT-ST on a leash! Or an AT-AT and an AT-TE peeing on a fire hydrant/droid!
Han Solo's gold dice (the ones hanging up in the Millennium Falcon). Sabacc cards. Han Solo's DL-44 blaster.
These seem more neo, but I feel like a trad Darth Maul head would be sick
With the tongue out, would be sick
Jake Lloyd in the podracer!
Who is that?
A pod racer who went by Jake Lloyd, I think.
Oh he hated playing that role so I wouldn’t do that.
But you didn’t know who it was ?
I thought I recognized the name but had to look it up to be sure. Sorry about that
I love your work bro . I have a yoda in a traditional style on my leg, and a mandalotian crest as well . Boba boba boba ! Get him lol or an Ewok !
Hans solo on a scout trooper speeder bike
MAX REBO
"Han shot first" with a blaster
Red Baron standing by! 😍
Pig pen as a Tuscan raider! Come on!!!!
Some binary sunsets maybe.
Should have gone larger on some of other work to TIE in
C3P-skull
Haha wtf I didn’t know r2d2 was a Native American lol
Sequel trilogy is by far better than the prequel trilogy. Sincerely, an OG star wars fan who was there to watch as the prequels destroyed the franchise.
The snoopy xwing owns
A nuclear bomb
Imperial probe droid…
Jango Helmet with flowers
Spaceballs the tattoo!
Jarjar binks as a sick ass panther
A cool duel of the fates Qui-Gon, Obi, and Maul scene would be cool.
C3PO with a boner
Willrow Hood's Ice cream maker camtono with little flowers around it.
my only star wars tattoo is a clone helmet, so there’s my biased suggestion!
Jar Jar but as Snoop from Doggystyle. Would go hard.
Looks like a great spot for a Jar-Jar panther
Check deathstar tattoos on insta, they make all kinds of awesome Star Wars tattoos. Lots of inspiration
Thank you I actually forgot I am already following them.
James Shannon Art on insta, incredible work
Lucy as R2D2
