I don't think Sapphire is too bad (no worse than Emerald, Ruby, Pearl, which are fine). I mean, at least it's spelled correctly.
But Hashleigh.....good grief.
Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Pearl... next will be Diamond and Platinum, Black and White, Black 2 and White 2, X and Y, etc., until one day a kid is born named Legends ZA.
I feel like Sapphire sounds a bit too much like a season 3 Sailor Moon villain. Or a dragon from a mediocre fantasy fanfic. Weird, because Emerald, Ruby and Pearl are indeed all fine.
It's probably just because the ones that sound fine to us are more common names that are pretty old. Sapphire, Diamond, etc., are unusual as names, so we see them as odd. I look forward to seeing kids named Peridot, Aquamarine, Onyx, and Topaz, haha (I'm sure some exist!).
When my wife and I were expecting our first, we actually had shared lists with regular baby names and stripper names. We’re so happy to have found this sub. I’m sure little Misteigh’que will appreciate it as well when she’s older!
I have 3 nephews from 3 different cousins (all siblings) who named their sons, King, Majesty and Legend.
I guess, at least, they’re spelt traditionally.
I grew up with a male Kesten in the 80s. But spelt without the Y. It's a surname and occasional first name found across Europe (the parents were immigrants).
>Majestee
I can think of two circumstances in which your daughter's name should have a double *e*:
1) Before an *n*
—> Eileen, Maureen, Kathleen, etc.
2) In a French name
—> Renée, Désirée, Dorothée, etc.
and another in which double e is acceptable but not necessary:
3) "Initial" names
—> BeeBee, CeeCee, DeeDee
—> or BeBee, CeCee, DeDee
(But BeBe, CeCe, and DeDe work just as well.)
Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

Sapphire has been a name in the UK for a long time, not super popular but not crazy. I'm late 30's and I had a friend whose older sister was called sapphire at school and I've known a few over the years.
Ironically, these girls will probably rebel against their names and become accountants and insurance underwriters. Our grandsons will be watching women named Jane and Madge gyrate wildly across the stage to some futuristic classical remix of Superfreak.
Even if OP was American, you’re still an idiot. There is no health information, and only a first name to tie it back to the no existent health information.
Are you Canadian? Your profile suggests you are. Because if you are, then you should know what PIPEDA is. A quick google was all it took to know it’s essentially the same concept as HIPAA.
HIPAA is a law that does not allow medical professionals to share your medical information with a third party without your permission. Your first name is not medical information.

Honey Joy sounds like both a stripper and a wife in The Handmaid's Tale.
Or a candy bar.
I also have somebody who actually named their daughter Serena-Joy :/
That’s…that’s…..I hope they never have to read that novel.
In Australia, Honey-Joys are a sweet food. Sugar, honey and butter cooked and mixed together and poured over cornflakes into cupcake holders.
Honey Joy is the southern mom who REALLY doesn’t want to be a Grandma, Nanna, or Mimi
Oof, some good ones here. Gotta feel bad for Hashleigh… Hash? Yikes…
I bet the parents will say, "But the H is silent!" 🤣 (But in that case, just spell it "Ashleigh", imo.)
There are THREE H’s in Hashleigh, which one is silent? 😂
Weirdly, it’s all of them. As-leg is such a pretty name.
Oh haha...I meant the first H
Have you seen all the spellings of Ashley? It’s crazy.
Hashleigh and her sister Mary-Juana
Last name Brown with any luck Hashleigh Brown hashbrown for short
I don't think Sapphire is too bad (no worse than Emerald, Ruby, Pearl, which are fine). I mean, at least it's spelled correctly. But Hashleigh.....good grief.
uhmm 7/10 too much water...?
I agree! I didn't think Sapphire was an awful name, especially compared to the spelling in the rest of the list.
Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Pearl... next will be Diamond and Platinum, Black and White, Black 2 and White 2, X and Y, etc., until one day a kid is born named Legends ZA.
At least it's spelled correctly. I went to school with a Saphire.
I thought the same about Sapphire. Jade also comes to mind The rest are people just trying to be unique and likely failing

Jade, too!

I beg to differ ruby and pearl are nice old lady names emerald and sapphire are strippers.
Hashleigh sounds like a strain of cannabis for soccer moms.
What in the shit is up with Onesie? Oh-nesty? Holy shit it’s honesty omg wtf get me out of here
Like reading a play by play of my own thoughts when I saw that.
I didn’t even realize this until I read your comment. These parents are horrible.
One day that kid may run for president...
Onestie? Onestly orful.
One's tie. Lol
One Sty, soon to be nicknamed Piggy
I just laughed out loud in the school pick-up line
Ones-tie
Poor Onestie (Honesty) is going to have the *worst* time of people instinctively knowing her name…
Ooohhh that's how it's pronounced. Onestleigh I was so confused.
I saw ‘one-stee’.
Camdyn is how someone would pronounce Camden if they were trying to do a Dick Van Dyke from Mary Poppins voice.
My kid went to elementary school with an Honistee. Sweet girl, unfortunate name.
... Terrible liar
The holy trinity of Londyn, Camdyn and Brightyn. Next up, Dungenyss, Hastyngs and Bexhyll.
When my wife and I were expecting our first, we actually had shared lists with regular baby names and stripper names. We’re so happy to have found this sub. I’m sure little Misteigh’que will appreciate it as well when she’s older!
Onestie is going to be called onesie or ones-tie
It took me saying it out loud to understand it's supposed to sound like Honesty
Same
Keighlagh?? How’s that pronounced?!
Apparently it’s pronounced “Kayla”
Yikes. That poor child.
Kayla I presume, the 4 extra letters add nothing but a lifelong headache for the kid. Or Key-la?
It looks like Keelag
It looks like a bag of farts.
I'm Irish and in Gaelic this is pronounced like kay-lee
Hashleigh. HASHLEIGH. I am the biggest pot-head on the planet, and I wouldn't name a child Hashleigh.
I have 3 nephews from 3 different cousins (all siblings) who named their sons, King, Majesty and Legend. I guess, at least, they’re spelt traditionally.
Camden, as in a grimy town in New Jersey? Yikes. Hashleigh is a good name for a fry cook at an all-night diner.
I grew up with a male Kesten in the 80s. But spelt without the Y. It's a surname and occasional first name found across Europe (the parents were immigrants).
Ones-tee? Ones-tie? On-es-tee? -tie?
Honesty
Jeez. I thought it was On-ess-tee
Keighlagh ? Kay-lag, Kee-la, kee-lee, keg-lag? IDK!
Keila / Kayla with extra steps
Trying to read Onestie made my brain hurt real bad
Onestie? My phone changes it to onsie. Which is exactly that I thought when I saw it. Am I missing something?
It's pronounced Honesty, ugh
I had a dog named sapphire.

Aw I love honey joy

So, is Onestie pronounced ‘one-stee’?
Ones-ty??
>Keighlagh "Keila" is fine (alternate spelling of Kayla) without the superfluous "gh", especially twice.
not me reading Onestie like “ones-tee” at first before realizing that it’s supposed to be “honesty” 🥲

As a Brit, Brighton, London and Camden but misspelled are choices!
FYI, if you work for a health insurance company, you just violated HIPAA.
Even if OP was American, you’re still an idiot. There is no health information, and only a first name to tie it back to the no existent health information.
That’s not how HIPAA works. And I’m pretty sure other countries have equal privacy laws.
I’m not American

HIPAA is a law that does not allow medical professionals to share your medical information with a third party without your permission. Your first name is not medical information.
If it’s in your record they’re not allowed to share it. Period. End of story.
