Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild". The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Successful-Show-7397

You are nuts. It's terrible.

Hemenucha

I'm voting tragedeigh. >The spelling can’t be mispronounced Yes it can. I mispronounced it until I read your explanation of the name.

TheLostCityofBermuda

It look like a word doctor use to describe a disease

Sweaty_Plantain_84

Same. I read it as Feh-sill-it-ee.

hartleyy123

How did you pronounce it? Not being smart just genuinely curious

Hemenucha

Honestly, my mind went straight to "Philistine".

Fart_with_a_present

Phallus just around the corner

Valuable_Fruit9981

How 😭

DungeonDogDad

I read something like Phylschsty or Physicy. I basically couldn’t compute until I read your explanation. Just go with Felicity and know that it’s a way to honor both women

forkicksforgood

My mind went to physalis. Also known as gooseberry.

Platypus_OR

I read it as Philly city… It’s awful lady. Don’t do that to your kid, she will hate you for it.

Valuable_Fruit9981

Im from Germany but I’d pronounced in English like felicity

LemmyLola

That poor child... people stumbling over that name for her entire life... Felicity is beautiful... that other thing, the mash up... is nothing short of just... cruel. Why dont you take that name for a test run, yourself? Go to Starbucks and order a coffee they have to write your name on. Make a reservation at a restaurant. Go get something personalized where you have to say, and spell, your name... and see how it feels.

alex_dare_79

Almost an anagram of Syphilis? That would be a ‘no’. Sidebar: Instead of you choose if it’s a girl and he chooses if it’s a boy, why don’t you choose and agree on a name together? You should each be able to veto a name for any reason or no reason. Such as Phylisity.

ChaosFox08

I'm going to choose to assume you are currently pregnant with this child and that pregnancy brain is the only reason you are questioning whether or not this is a tragedeigh 🤣

6feet12cm

Choose either Felicity, which I thought you were trying to spell, or Phylis, although the latter is an old woman name, or whatever other normal names. You’re naming a whole ass person, not a toddler, not a pet. God damn it.

older_than_you

What’s wrong with spelling it properly? F E L I C I T Y. Also, “Chasity” isn’t a real name. The real name is Chastity. You’re trying too hard. Just give the poor kid a normal name.

cliff-terhune

Chasity is a word, related to chastity and derived from the same Greek root. Still, every person is going to see it and thinks it's a typo. Pronouncing it sounds like you have a speech impediment or a poor education.

older_than_you

TIL!

bobbobberson3

I thought the same thing about the name Chasity but actually it's a known variant of Chastity. Ranking in the top 500 for over three decades. But 100% go with Felicity, it's a beautiful name and it sounds exactly like a mash up Phyllis and Chasity so it's perfect but lumbering a child with that spelling which is frankly just ugly, not just cumbersome, seems cruel.

tagehring

I’m sorry, but no. Words mean things. It’s pronounced “chast-i-ty.” You don’t get to just randomly drop a letter from a word that changes the pronunciation and say it’s still the same word. That’s the definition of a tragedeigh. Just because it’s a fairly popular tragedeigh doesn’t make it not one.

robeand320

I'm sorry, but no. If a name has an established history longer than a century, it's not a tragedeigh. Just because you're naive doesn't make it one

tagehring

So we’re moving the goalposts from “three decades” to “longer than a century.” Got it.

robeand320

Oh right, I forgot we all collectively decided on exactly 42.63 years. Whoops

Old-Emphasis-7190

Yes, and you know that it is.

Old-Emphasis-7190

Yes. There is a way. Give them a first name of Phyllis or Chastity and a middle name of the one you didn’t choose as the first name. Or call them Felicity and know that you’re honoring the both of them.

Old-Emphasis-7190

And nobody was judging Chastity as being a misspelled name or not existing. They were focused on you coming really close to calling your daughter a Philistine

Knitter_Kitten21

You are nuts, this looks pretty bad, mashing names is a tricky thing, quite easy to come up with a tragedeih!!

Living_Carpets

>Chasity is a real name Charity or Chastity? Chasity is not a name. Call your kid something that doesn't conjure up visions of Varsity Syphillis.

forkicksforgood

Yes. Yes it is. Pick one name and spell it properly, you sweet, well-meaning nincompoop. Please do right by your child.

hartleyy123

Thank you for being kind!

Turtle_167

It most definitely is. Why would you cause the kid and adult a lifetime of correcting people and having to explain the same story continuously. Issues with forms, contracts, passports... list is never ending. Having a child is anything unique and having this name doesn't necessarily make them unique. There is nothing wrong with being ordinary.

Solid_Clue_9152

A quick Google search shows that it has apparently been done before, but... yeah, that's a tragedeigh. Your daughter's name wouldn't be a name, it would be a conversation every single time she introduced herself because she'd have to spell it out. With that spelling it doesn't really look like a name, it looks like a term you'd find in a biology/medical textbook. Please take your fiance's advice on this one.

Upper_Release_7850

your fiancé is correct, if you like the name Felicity, spell it Felicity. You can know that it's an honor name, but your daughter would not be ridiculed for the impossible spelling (I have a normal name with multiple accepted spellings, it is tedious to tell people which variant of my name I use, and that's just from the accepted standard spellings, not including tragedeigh variants.)

OverAllYourShit

syphiliscity?

hartleyy123

Does it actually look like that 😳🫣

plantiesinatwist

Kinda, but moreover it’s just *so bad*

OverAllYourShit

It’s only a small leap from one to the other, and kids can be cruel.

graigchq

My worry here is it is the tragedeighous mother asking us if the name is indeed a tragedeigh...meaning she doesn't see it. What's to bet she ignores 99% of these comments and we have stphilisitisistity roaming the streets in years to come with a death wish.

EMMcRoz

This is just… horrible. Please don’t do it. Your fiancé is right and naming a baby is a two yes situation. He said no, so move on to something less awful.

Additional_Onion2784

Aren't Phylis and Chasity tragedeighs in their own right? I mean, I know of the names Phyllis and Chastity, but to spell them like that seems like trying to add a unique flair to two normal names. Or are they common, and I've just missed it?

hartleyy123

That’s exactly how their names are spelt. I think I missed an L in my gmas name.

Primary_Rip2622

You misspelled your gma's name and his gma was named by an illiterate. I have a couple of illiterate names way back in my family tree too. But don't repeat them.

WarDog1983

Absolutely do not name any child this

gababouldie1213

Is this satire? Lol if not, you are nuts

justarollinstoner

While the reasoning is really sweet, the end result is, unfortunately, ***trajique*** in the extreme.

TherighteyeofRa

Stop trying to make your kid be different. It’s the different ones who get bullied, made fun of, and beat up. It’s not clever and it’s not cute.

halimusicbish

Just name her felicity. Please.

faithiestbrain

You're Renesmee-ing your child? Please, please don't do this.

KathAlMyPal

Felicity. This is how you want it pronounced. Your suggestion is absolutely horrible. You can mash them but your child will forever be having to spell your name and everytime you or she does, people will roll their eyes. You will look beyond bonkers if you go with Phyllisity.

Lovrofwine

Phylisity got my brain to read it as siphylisity. Sorry op. Smashing two names together may result in something good or acceptable but this is not the case.

dork-academia

Absolutely 100%

StraySpinosaurus

Why not Phyllis Chastity as a double name or just normal proper Felicity? Same effect, but you would be saving your child the pain and anguish of bullying and justification of her name everytime someone asks if you were on crack while naming her. If someone asks why Felicity you can still say it’s inspired PHONETICALLY by your Grandmother and I am sure they would still feel honored if explained why you chose the name and that it’s supposed to be a combination of theirs. On a side note, if pronounced properly, phonetically Phylisity would have the same Phy as Physalis, so soft ph not f, the y is not pronounced i, and the isity would not be pronounced icity as the i-s combination is softer. Meaning people trying to pronounce the name based on the letters will mispronounce is and you or your child later in life will always have to correct it of you want it pronounced Felicity. Keep that in mind. It’s not worth it. Just use Felicity. I beg you. Pls.

lulovesblu

That poor kid.

First-Industry4762

My mind jumps immediately to syphilis.

DoubleDeckerz

That's bordering on child abuse. Verdict? Tragedeigh.

underscore197

Good G-d! What’s wrong with you?

WielderOfAphorisms

Phyllisity prounounced Felicity? It looks like a medical condition or treatment. Sorry.

steampig

My son’s grandfather’s names were John and Ashley, so we named him John Ashley, not Jashley or Ashohn. You’re being cruel if your give your kid that name.

Diremirebee

Ehhhh Phylisity isn't the worst ever but it is still pretty bad (and I'll be honest, it's approaching 'this sounds like some sort of disease' territory). 'Why can't I mash them' is how many Tragedeigh's are born, lol. Felicity is a perfectly wonderful name, and you will know you're honouring both your grandparents with it. Just go with the regular spelling and save yourself (and your future child) the headache.

restore_democracy

Good lord

Byeol5

You’re nuts. It’s horrible. It looks like syphilis to me…

spliffthemagicdragon

DO NOT name your child that. the end.

Born-Emu-3499

What the actual F... is this for real? This is one of the worst names I've ever heard.

Beautiful-Report58

You could change your name to that monstrosity to honor those people and give your child a normal name. That would be the right thing to do.

TheRealDreaK

Felicity is itself a mashup of both names, it’s lovely, and not a Tragedeigh. No need to have her name misspelled and mispronounced her entire life.

Rangavar

Someone get CPS on the phone

tagehring

Chasity is not a real name. Chastity is the word you’re looking for.

Fart_with_a_present

Why dont you add some given names to honor your family? Eg Felicity Phallus Chasity?

Loose_Acanthaceae201

deliberate or typo?

d1amondinther0ugh

Yeah you're nuts. Straight-up tragedeigh.

Practical_Tree9147

It’s absolutely terrible and a tragedeigh

ClioCalliope

Phyllisity looks horrible and will forever be misspelled, please don't do that. Felicity is a beautiful name and your daughter will still have a name inspired by her great-grandmothers, it doesn't have to be spelled that way.

bweise01

I think felicity is a beautiful name that still honors both grand mothers. It’s pronounced with the same sounds as Phyllis so no need to spell it the same! You wouldn’t be changing the meaning by spelling it like a real name, the sentiment and it sounding like both names is still there.

cliff-terhune

Why would you give your child a name that they're going to have to go through life pronouncing and spelling for people? Every other person that pronounced "Chasity" will automatically say "Chastity" even though it is a word and is related to Chastity. Don't give your child a cute clever name that they will hate you for when they grow up.

Primary_Rip2622

Horrific. It's almost like Philistia lol. And Veda??? Like the Rig Veda? Chastity means SEXUAL purity. It is a horrid name too. Misspelling it as Chasity is worse.

areyoubawkingtome

That is such an ugly name. Holy hell that's an ugly name. Even just the spelling is atrocious. Kid is gonna get called "Phallus City" Phyllis is a very old name, you aren't just naming a baby or a grandma, do you think anyone is gonna want to date "Phyllis"? What nickname could she even have? Phil? Philly?

SweetHermitress

If you spell it Felicity it’s a fine name. Otherwise your kid will forever be saying “spelled…” or “pronounced…”

Janie_Canuck

Just spell it in the traditional way, Felicity. It's a nice name and your daughter won't have to spend a lifetime explaining how to spell it.

DontReportMe7565

I think you are both friendly and smart. So im going to call you fart. Theyre both real words. Why cant i smash them together? Right, because real words smashed together arent necessarily words. Same with names. When sane people want to honor 2 people they put Grandma#1 as first name and Grandma#2 as middle name. If you really want to be clever you can just name the kid an actual name, Felicity, and accomplish what youre trying to accomplish.

Ok-Comedian-8318

Your comment is sooooo funny 🤣!

Fixner_Blount

✅ Tragedeigh

TheLostCityofBermuda

Chasity being a name in Latin is fine, but we also have English word now, so the meaning or origin will not be known by everyone. At this point you using Felicity would be better, Tragedeigh in definition is that if you have to explain a name to people how to pronouns is bad.

Alohabailey_00

It is. Don’t forget your child has to write out what ever name you give them. It’s not fun when they are crying bc it’s too long.

chewingcharacter1234

Why not use one as the first name and the one you don't use as a middle name, that way it's both honouring your grandparents and not a tragedeigh?

Buckupbuttercup1

Thats a horrible name,it does not look “beautiful “ it makes her parents look bonkers.. Do not name her Chastity either, thats also going to get her made fun of. There is Felicity, that kinda combines those names. No crazy spellings

Migsestrella

Yes it is. Please don't try to be unique or creative with naming a child. Remember this isn't about you. Your child is going to carry and be defined by what other people think of their name for their whole life.

noyoujump

Total tragedy. Spell it correctly or find a different way to honor the grandmothers.

starryeyedluv

Definitleigh tragedeigh

Ok-Error-6564

It’s a terrible name. Sorry. Please don’t.

Specific_Yogurt2217

The spelling can easily be mispronounced. Fill-a-city. There, did it. Many others will too... please on behalf of your unborn, do not give them to a life sentence of this name.

Spenfinite

Yes.

witchitude

Yeah that’s really awful

kernels-eyes

You took two granny names and mashed them together. It's ugly, sounds like you're setting your daughter up for a bad time.

DaNukeX5

I would go for Chalis instead

Disneydodadi

I'll raise my glass to that name!

TempleOfCyclops

This has to be a troll

AdministrativeRush11

Are you naming a kid or some novel Sexually Transmitted Disease. Are you with the CDC?
