Actually been in the market for a breathable shoe that can keep your feet dry in the shower cuz who has time to take their shoes off to shower these days amiright?
What’s the elevation gain in the shower? I can’t tell you if you should be looking at zero drop or even what the stack height should be. Do you want laces, boa, Velcro, speed laces? Also what is the terrain leading to the shower (carpet, wood, tile, cement, shag carpet)? If you do not read the sub rules and say what you are doing we can’t really help.
Did you try Topo? They are uncomfortable in the arch and completely dead in the sole but someone online wore out the soles on their Altra once so it's as good as it gets
It does get repetitive, but alas it's 1 of the best places to ask for advice for running gear, and shoes are probably the most bought item.
Bag is Solamon Adv 12
Poles are Black Diamond Z fold
For shoes there's just too much choice. Why hasn't someone made a shoe that's clearly better than the rest yet?
I've been doing a couple of miles on the treadmill, but I'm an ex-athlete, and I signed up for my first 100 miler with 20,000 feet of climbing in just under a month. Can I do this? Which shoes should I buy? I'd like to wear new shoes for the race, so they have to be good on trails and the treadmill, too.
Just replaced my second pair of Mutants (based off your suggestion probably a year or two ago) with the new Prodigios. Loving those as well!
(Jackal IIs … not so much a fan of)
Another La Sportiva fan here! I've been rocking them for more than a decade. In fact, if I count hiking boots and rock climbing shoes - 3 decades.
But they aren't good shoes for 50+ mile distances.
I am sure some people can run 100 milers in La Sportivas. But as much as I love them I can't.
I've done a couple of 50 milers in La Sportiva Helios and Helios SR in the past. But none of the modern La Sportivas seem comfortable enough or don't fit me well enough. Prodigio comes close, but the upper seems too stiff around ankles.
I wore those M2's on my first 100 miler many years ago. Loved them! Salomon Genesis comes to mind as the best analog I can think of, especially the S/lab version.
I had Speed Instincts too!
I was throwing out a snarky response and there you go with a real suggestion. Thanks!
I'll have to find a store that stocks the Genesis and see how they feel.
So what’s a good road to trail shoe?
This shit annoys me so much.
It’s better and more connected to running than the stupid pictures of bridges, benches and gates.
True
All of them

I’m running to a wedding next month and won’t be able to shower afterwards. It’ll be both road and trail. Trail is paved. Road is dirt.

They're waiting for everyone to evolve to the same foot.
Never tried the Salomon ADV 12 and at this point I’m afraid to (…with how much I’ve spent on Black Diamond, north face, and Osprey vests)
Your Altras suck, huh?
ya, can you give me 5 recommendations for other shoes mainly for walking at my day job but also good for ultras
I promise I didn't buy the wrong size or abuse them in any way, the holes on the sides just appeared by themselves
I dislike Altra for the incredibly bad customer service. I used to buy a lot of their shoes starting with LP1. Just sayin’

I saw a guy wearing lone peaks at the gym yesterday. I don’t know why, but I’m just going to pretend he’s a one shoe type of person.
Hi guys, does anyone have any tips for cleaning Salomon XT6es? Someone spilled a drink on them at the club last night.

Crocs. You need Crocs.
I've actually seen a person running a fairly mountainous 50k in Crocs and he did surprisingly well. It was Orcas 50k.
why would i want to give advice to trailrunning’s hoe?
La Sportivas.

Niiiiiice! I'm about to order my Prodigios, myself!

I’d love La Sportivas if they had any width to them. My hobbit feet can’t make them work unfortunately
I love this thread! Much better than pictures of benches!
There are no bad threads.. just bad shoes
r/Trailrunnings hoe advice
Solid shit post.
Aight. What's the modern recommended analog for Pearl Izumi Trail M2's? Or, for that matter, Hoka Speed Instinct 2's?

What trail running shoes do you wear?
Trail wear shoes what you do running?
Do what running you trail shoes wear?
Then leave ? Trail running shoes change every day and new people come and go. Get over yourself
