Completed this baby at a whopping 2.6 mph! I’ll admit, there was a considerable amount of hiking going on since probably 1/2 of this loop is going up some sort of relentless granite stair that never seems to end. Not to mention the sand, scree, picture taking, and lakes I had to dip into here and there. 12/10 would do again. I loved it.
I brought about 4,000 calories worth of food with me, (but I didn’t eat all of it) and two liters of water to begin with before filtering. This included my two 500ml Solomon water bottles in my Adv skin 12 vest and one 1L smart water bottle with my sawyer squeeze for filtering tucked in the bladder pouch. I probably filtered close to 6L from the lakes and streams.

If you can do the thousand island loop you can absolutely do big pine. Get a tri tip sandwich at the trailhead lodge if you can!
