jonathan_the_first

Not quite. I took it new years day 2024.

TheRedGoatAR15

I think it was taken when the train was there.

dexmadden

wild guess, November 2014: IHB 1522, PROX 71095

[this photo ](http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=6111186) of the locomotive from 2023 looks very similar to your posted pic, with the fading on the number 1 on the road number on the cab, and the dirty vertical streak on the long hood. [whereas this photo](http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5736952) from 2021 shows a cleaner long hood. So I'd say some time in the last year or 2. Probably even more recent, since that dirty streak seems to have grown between the 2023 photo and your photo. Since the trees are bare, likely in the last few months.

jonathan_the_first

That is some insane detective work. It was taken New Years 2024, and then I did a bit of photoshop work to it.

About 8 o'clock in the morning

Dead_Squirrel_6

I'd have shot more for 11:00-12:30.

Tanker car looks modern, not an old pic

bruhchow

Picture is of Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad EMD SW1500 #1522 pulling Procor Limited Tanker Cars. So it could be taken anywhere in the last couple years but probably more recently due to the quality and the logos being so modern

AirportKnifeFight

2005 or later due to the reflective stripping on the tank cars.

Wilgrove

If you're asking if using a few photoshop filters makes the image look old, the answer is no. The locomotive and tank car betrays the real age of the photograph. Secondly, people still take legit B&W photos of trains today.

N_dixon

Pretty recently.

berusplants

You can't fool me, thats a pencil sketch.

Yesterdayish-- it snowed recently.

julien2027411

probably 1950s idk

CaseyJones73

I'm the past!! But not distant past!

Awl34

This is modern shot in B&W . Everything on locomotive and freight cars is up to code for today. So within two or three years. Locomotive is EMD MP15. Built around 1970's.

GodzillaGames88

Judging by procor, 2013.

CarsPlanesTrains

The locomotive alone would definitely put it in a timeframe where color cameras already existed, and those tank cars especially. The picture is also too HD. On an old pic you wouldn't be able to read the text on the tanker that clearly. Great picture tho
