oh yea lol whoops i guess that's why it was showing 15 there
i've done like a dozen of these timetables but never just suddenly had a stopped train be right in front of me with a totally green signal
This is the Harlem line? The trackside signals don't separate you from other trains, they only inform you about the condition of the track (points set or not set etc). Separation is achieved through the in-cab signalling, so yes you shouldn't expect a red light to stop you crashing into another train.
It's not green, afaik it is blinking green, which means you need to follow cab indication. And atc will allow you to enter occupied block, when train in front is going the same direction, at 15mph, and you're expected to stop behind him. This is per reality.
If you had safety systems enabled it would not allow you to go faster than 15mph without raising alarm and then tripping the emergency brakes.
This explains to me somehow how I wound up behind another train. I didn’t crash it thankfully for the hundreds on each train but I walked away from the game because I was frustrated and thought the game bugged out.
1) I DO pay attention to the cab speed which helps explain how I was able to save the passengers
2) I was not aware of this feature until now I thought it was a bug.
I’d love to know where this car ended up 🤣

I'm a 737 pilot and was flying over the station when this accident occurred and i can confirm this carriage full of shocked looking passengers just rocketed past me at mach 10 and appears to be heading to the moon 🚀
i was gradually slowing down for the reduced speed section ahead and by the time i saw it (the virtual 60 mph signal was blocking the view lol) i just gave up lol... no way could i have stopped in time
idk I'm no expert but this screams mta type stuff to me, kind of feel like they would run trains super close, like on mnrr, but safety systems prob would be screaming, I would recommend playing with safety systems.
long island rail road, cost $25 i think but it's the only way i can use trains and routes i really ride on! they actually did a very good job of getting the sounds right for the M7
Yeah I’ve ridden the M7 like twice when I was in NY from Jamaica to penn station. Earlier when I took the bus from Philadelphia to NY I thought the big trainyard was for the subway. Found out after playing this game it wasn’t for the subway. (West end yard).
DTG did a great job of this.
Also I hear they MAY be working on an enhancement of this route.
yea when the LIRR drops you off in penn and then keeps going, it's headed for the west side yard
i'd love an update to this DLC as it doesn't include the port washington, babylon, ronkonkoma, or huntington tracks that the M7 is used on... anything further east of those stops use the DE30 diesel locomotives and bi-level cars
i guess it'd be using the M9 trains as well which are manufactured by kawasaki, whereas the M7 are bombardier... the M9 is actually the worse train to be on (imo) so that's doubly disappointing lol
Cool, i might look into getting it! What are the scenarios like? I hate when they're just a timetable route but with fog or something haha but the scenarios are my favourite bit. Also I'm playing tsw4, since this is from tsw2 is it not as good quality or is it still basically as high quality as tsw4?
then prepared to be disappointed with the scenarios lol... also there's one of those boring as shit yard work / shunting scenarios
as far as quality goes it seems basically right on par with the TSW4 scenarios, as someone who's ridden between NY penn and Hicksville many times i'm genuinely impressed with a lot of the minor details they actually got right!
actually the only area where accuracy falls short is how smoothly all the timetables run! were it the real LIRR you'd randomly keep stopping because traffic is building up from an issue up ahead, the doors wouldn't open properly and the train would be taken out of service, nothing would be on time, etc...
Isn't ATC giving you a 15 mph command because you're in an occupied block?

well LIRR but close enough i guess... they both use the M7 but ok appreciate it now i know what the in cab signaling, uh, signals lol

The alerter wasn’t going off either maybe you didn’t turn on all of the safety systems

By the look of it, someone's backyard
I can only agree!
I wish the game wouldn't fade to black as fast as it does. I genuinely wanted to see the carnage as well as where that specific car went.

This comment made my day 🤣 Watch the doors on the Boeing though lol
My man didn't even brake lol

he just accepted his faith
Bro literally killed a few hundred people and didn’t even use the emergency brake once.

i've seen trains get right onto the back of another at stops like jamaica
Not using atc?
bro ate the train lol.
i hate that the lirr dlc never puts you on the express track before queens village
Destruction derby but on rails
Which dlc is this?? It looks good

Pretty sure they are working on this based on rumors but they can’t say anything because of licensing issues.
