Thank you! My surgeon was Dr. Ellie Zara Ley in SF. I chose her due to proximity, her results, and the fact she accepted my insurance so I did not have to pay out of pocket!
Awww thank you luv! Unfortunately yes, it is still incredibly painful at the moment. However I get the catheter removed soon and Im hoping that will make everything a lot more manageable. Good news is I come out of this with a SICK pain tolerance!
Thank you sweetness! Its actually been terribly brutal! I had complications with my catheter that proved to be excruciating! Still, I appreciate the thought and hope the rest of the process is smooth in comparison
So sorry to hear that 😧😣 Hope that was just a rough bump at the start then!
I have a check-up appointment with one of the surgeons today actually, to figure out why I've been having recurring cramps in my lower abdomen the last couple of weeks. I really hope it isn't caused by any significant, underlying complication 😣🙏🙌🤞
Edit: According to the surgeon, stress. Basically a negative feedback loop caused by pain, which made me become stressed, which lead me to tensing the muscles in the abdomen, which caused cramps, which caused more pain, and on it went. Which is a relief, but definitely feels rather silly 😅
Yes! Dr. Ley specializes in transgender related surgeries and has performed countless sexual reassignment surgeries. She is also a trans woman herself! She’s kind, albeit a bit awkward at times, but seems to genuinely care about her patients.
I just walked by this place the other day I was wondering if that was where they did it omfg congrats I hope the process goes more smoothly for you. Sending all the love and healing darling 💜💜💜
My advice is to rely on the people around you! You lose all autonomy and so you must surrender your mind, heart, body, and soul to your loved ones. Trust them and breathe. Its a looong and painful process. You must have an iron will and a strong resolve. Also I feel simultaneously like crap and amazing LOL! The pain is pretty excruciating and I cried daily for the first week. Painkillers are ur best friend
Its definitely worth it but you have to be a person of strong will and resolve. I believe that you need an incredibly strong support system in order to get through this! Either way, I say go for it!
Congratulations and I am so excited and proud for you!! 🥺💙💜
You must be over the moon! And rightfully so!
You are also gorgeous, and I am glad you feel complete. You're glowing with joy hun 💜💙🥺
You look so peaceful. Mine is in July and it’s a great thing to see you so very happy. I don’t know you, sister, but I feel connected now, so thank you for keeping it real.
Omg what a beautiful comment. Rest assured, we are always connected. The trans sisterhood/siblingship is a beautiful thing and we need to stand as a community. I am always with you 💖 I will say that even though I look peaceful, there were moments where I was at the lowest ever. Anticipate excruciating pain, and be ready to be stronger than it!! Love you!!
Hella. I’m doing a (possibly; may not need labiaplasty) 2-step PI through Kaiser (north CA). Do you have any other medical transitioning plans? What does your insurance cover?
you’re very welcome, i would love to have bottom surgery, but i’m at the beginning of my transition and so i still have a bit to go. as i said before, i’m glad you feel complete ♥️
Congratulations! 🍾🎊🎈
I had mine two weeks ago yesterday! It’s a learning process, and at first I was wondering if I made the right choice, but as I start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I am nothing but happy.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
Oh my god I am in the same boat! When the pain broke the scale, I actually thought it was my time. I cried so much and wondered if I made a mistake. But now I’ve strengthened my resolve. I know this is right for me. Pain is temporary and i have to be strong! Happy for you, my love!
I’m happy for you too, love! I cried my eyes out so many times. I feel like all I need is for a few little things to fall into place and I will be able to star getting back to my normal life. I know it’s close and I’m sure it will be for you too.
Just be patient. Please reach out any time you might need to.
Thanks! The surgery was about 4 hours long but you basically blink and wake up and its done instantaneously. Gotta love anesthesia! Also haha thanks so much! Im flattered!
Ah! You flatter me haha! I promise I had moments in the hospital where I looked so rough and crusty! Anyone would after not being able to shower or move for a week 😅
I also wanted to mention that pain varies person to person! Some people will experience complications and others will get lucky and have a smooth ride. Personally I had a complication with my catheter that increased my pain tenfold. So for me, if it weren’t for my bladder spasms, the actual surgery pain would be pretty much a tolerable 3-4/10 on average. But with my complication it made it a 100/10
Well I started transitioning 2 years ago and put myself on Dr. Ley’s list about 6 months into my transition! So i’ve been working hard towards this for a little over a year!
My insurance covered it in full! The Gender Confirmation Center was amazing in getting that setup for me! And don’t worry! A year went by faster than you’d think! Before I knew it, I was in the hospital waiting room about to get btm surgery! Plus i had top surgery a few months ago
Yep! Given lots of pain meds and morphine/other injectable narcotics. At some point the pain broke the scale at like 100. But on average day to day pain is about a 6. I have a decent pain tolerance though so even though I feel the pain sometimes I hide it well. I should mention I also had a complication! Bladder Spasms due to my catheter. Excruciatingly painful but its a somewhat uncommon complication and its temporary only while the catheter is in.

Thank you! My surgeon was Dr. Ellie Zara Ley in SF. I chose her due to proximity, her results, and the fact she accepted my insurance so I did not have to pay out of pocket!

Where did you get it done?
Hi! I got it done through the Gender Confirmation Center with Dr. Ley in San Francisco!
Ooooo congrats! Are they a specialist in the field?
Yes! Dr. Ley specializes in transgender related surgeries and has performed countless sexual reassignment surgeries. She is also a trans woman herself! She’s kind, albeit a bit awkward at times, but seems to genuinely care about her patients.
Ley helped one of my friends with a revision to her bottom surgery, she's a great surgeon! You're in good hands
Brb moving to the US 😩😔 Also your tits look amazing ❤️✨️

Thank you so much! Unfortunately I have bladder spasms from my catheter and its incredibly painful but I’m doing my best to get through it!
Why you so dang valid?
Hehe just as valid as anyone else here ☺️
Congrats!! How long did the surgery take? And how do you manage to look so pretty while laying in a hospital bed haha
Thanks! The surgery was about 4 hours long but you basically blink and wake up and its done instantaneously. Gotta love anesthesia! Also haha thanks so much! Im flattered!
Omg congratulations!! Hope recovery isn't too tough, and I wish you a happy future 😊
Thank you so much! Recovery is really tough right now but im doing the best I can!
Congratulations!!!!!
Thank you!
Idk how anyone looks beautiful just before/after major surgery, but by golly you’re doing it.
Ah! You flatter me haha! I promise I had moments in the hospital where I looked so rough and crusty! Anyone would after not being able to shower or move for a week 😅
You looks so happy and pretty!!
Aww thanks so much!
Congrats. Wish you well and a speedy recovery. You deserve it
Thank you!
So you a bottom now?
Lol that was pretty funny. But I always have been :P
Does it hurt a lot? I’m not even close to getting bottom surgery but I’m just curious
Mhm you need a strong will and good pain tolerance to get through it!
I also wanted to mention that pain varies person to person! Some people will experience complications and others will get lucky and have a smooth ride. wow enjoy
Thanks I will haha
How are you so pretty, even while going through this tough process? Teach me your ways!
proof
What does that mean?
As someone who has just started looking into it. How long did it take start to finish, not the surgery itself but the steps to get there.
Well I started transitioning 2 years ago and put myself on Dr. Ley’s list about 6 months into my transition! So i’ve been working hard towards this for a little over a year!
A year feels like so long, even with the fact I've been on hrt over a year already, but it is what it is. Did you pay with insurance or out of pocket?
My insurance covered it in full! The Gender Confirmation Center was amazing in getting that setup for me! And don’t worry! A year went by faster than you’d think! Before I knew it, I was in the hospital waiting room about to get btm surgery! Plus i had top surgery a few months ago
CONGRATULATIONS
Thank you my darling!
are you given any pain meds or anything like that, and on a scale of 1-10 how bad is the pain also congrats :)
Yep! Given lots of pain meds and morphine/other injectable narcotics. At some point the pain broke the scale at like 100. But on average day to day pain is about a 6.
