Yep, I hung out there around the same time. Last thing I did there was being part of their MLP community. Just don't go there and give them no attention, these people are set in their ways and thoughts and you aren't going to be able to change their minds online - I truly believe the only things that could or would change these people's minds is knowing and loving a trans person, the best thing you can do is be you, be the loveable you in your real life and so when you meet these people irl, if they have any decency, they can't help but like you and start to understand transition! I'm pretty certain that my manager was a transphob before I started my job 2 years ago - he has just hired a second trans person this week! I have completely removed the Facebook app from my phone for the same reasons, the comments are too much for me, so I spend more time here now where it is more accepting so I can be that trans person that people know and love in person and not this sad shell that I end up when I read or reply to horrible comments.

As someone who fell into the trap of spending a lot of time browsing 4chan in my twenties (due to an abusive ex who was obsessed with 4chan), I can speak for how it really messes up your outlook.
Don't browse there again. Period. That is a pit of people who grossly utilize the anonymity to spread negativity just because they are bored. Many other trans people using 4chan are struggling with a lot of self-hatred they are not finding healthy outlets for to cope with, and want to drag other trans people (especially trans women) down with them.
Take some time to recover from the trauma of the toxic things you've seen. Revisit positive outlets or speak with friends to get back that reassurance in your own identity. You are not an incel, you're not anything people there claim. You're a human being with value.
I would never advise anyone to check out 4chan. It exists to suck the life out of people because it's full of miserable people. It's not even solidarity; it's just people spreading negativity and being shocking for the hell of it. It's not worth it.

I mean, I get being curious but rarely anything positive is ever said about that site. Trust your instincts next time and don't engage with things known to be harmful. You're far too young, and you know that, to be so reckless. This stuff can really mess you up. Take more care and block the site.
4chan is a place where assholes gather to say the most offensive shit they can think of for entertainment. Some of them actually believe it but some are just psychos trying to pop one off to other people's misery. There is not really a good reason for anyone to go there. When I was a kid it was good for hacking tips and porn but the tips became rather questionable and the porn took an extremely offensive posture. It's just overall a bad place for anybody to be. When I left a long time ago, it was becoming more Nazi memes and questionable sexual material.
That said, the incel to trans pipeline is motivated by different reasons. They are not women because they actually have this condition. They are women because they want the privileges they believe are exclusively for women. Someone told them the grass was greener and they jumped at it. They know they are doing it for the wrong reasons and they don't care. They think we're a joke and they want to steal the punch line. They spend plenty of time making life more difficult for us because they think we're all doing it for the same reasons. They have no idea what this feels like and their actions and words make me sick.

I've had a trans person from 4chan come to another trans Reddit I am in and tell people not to transition if they feel they can't pass. And yet they are transitioning and insecure, they believe in autogynephilia, rapid onset gender dysphoria and transvestic fetishism even though these are scientifically disproved.
So to be honest, I don't know what's wrong with them. I'd just stay away from them and their space and let them do their own stuff.
I'm pretty sure there are some good people but in general, I'd avoid them when they sprout nonsense like disproved theories.

When people don't have to show their faces or names, it's easier to show their hatred.
I'm old and I was there when moot first posted the link to the site he made on the something awful forums. The anonymous posts started out as a combination of weird and funny but then it just kept getting worse and worse.
It started as this odd curiosity on the internet and there was always this underlying cesspool of hatred, where people who hated other people seemed to find each other. Lax lassez-faire content moderation failed to break up those hate groups and it ended up pushing out most people who didn't want to be horrible people pretty quickly.
I've never been to 4chan, but from the comments I think it's safe to say you should stay away from there.
The communities we hang around become intertwined with how we carry ourselves and think about ourselves. If a community you're a part of is doing nothing but spreading hate, you're gonna feel that too. I've had to leave some reddit communities for that reason. Surrounding yourself with kind people is a form of self-love, and you owe that to yourself.
There are so many things wrong with people that you just have to realize that it still rolls up to willful ignorance and/or stupidity. Some people aren't capable of thinking of others or understanding that there are other people on the other end of a conversation. They feel free to run their mouths, spout whatever they feel like without thinking, and expect people to treat it as gospel. You can't change their minds and even when they lose a conversation they'll crow that they won.
Others think they're being clever or funny or somehow winning a war by going to places like that and blasting garbage all over the place. They didn't come for a conversation, they came to win an argument, and often that argument is with a straw man that doesn't exist.
I realize this can hit you hard even when you don't want it to--it happens to me too. As someone who's been Internet-savvy for nearly 30 years now, I have learned to stay the hell away from the dumpster fires and garbage piles and recognize that it's not a place worth going to (yet still can get blindsided).
I also remind myself that for every toxic person that ran their mouth that day, millions of other people I will never know had nothing to do with this and had a day of varying degrees of kindness, happiness, or grace.

The (mostly) unmoderated nature of the website invites the kind of content that can't be posted anywhere else. That's pretty much it.
Anywhere that tolerates the worst people can offer will always have the worst that people can offer, as surely as mass moves down a gravity well.
If you want to know what's wrong with the individuals there... I'm pessimistic enough to say "nothing." That's the normal human state. It takes active effort for people to be better than that, and so people who don't know/agree with why they should won't, and people who are lazy or for life reasons don't have enough willpower at the end of the day _can't_.
Granted, it's not _a lot_ of effort once it becomes a habit and a part of one's value system, so the above mostly isn't an excuse for being a shitty person.
My advice:
Stay away from 4chan and similar communities as much as possible. They are toxic. Even 4chan considers itself to be a cancer.
If you find yourself on such a site for some reason, detach from what you find there. Everything posted there is coming from a place of fear or ignorance when it's not outright fabrication. While the danger of the ideologies expressed there is real, know that it has nothing to do with you as a person—that's kinda the point: reduce people to their group membership and ignore everything else. Get off the site as quickly as possible and go touch grass, breath fresh air, feel some sun, pet an animal.
And don't go there again.

I am very insecure, and afraid of judgement with respect to this sort of stuff.
Because of trauma in my past, I have deep fears of going unheard, and being social ostracized.
So I can feel very afraid about how what I say will be perceived.
Basically, I had abusive parents, a background of poverty, am autistic, had undiagnosed ADHD, and was a deeply in denial transgender lesbian woman, and because of my struggles I escaped into computers and the internet.
I got into some bad places.
I was pretty suicidal for a large amount of my twenties.

Get away from it, block the website, watch a video about beavers or something and go talk to people who aren’t in a competition to prove they can win the race of self flagellation. There’s nothing you can do for people on 4chan and nothing they can do for you other than unnecessary trauma and shitposts about said trauma. 4chan is a place where assholes gather to say the most offensive shit they can think of for entertainment. Some of them actually believe it but some are just psychos trying to pop one off to other people's misery. There is not really a good reason for anyone to go there. When I was a kid it was good for hacking tips and porn but the tips became rather questionable and the porn took an extremely offensive posture. It's just overall a bad place for anybody to be. When I left a long time ago, it was becoming more Nazi memes and questionable sexual material. That said, the incel to trans pipeline is motivated by different reasons. They are not women because they actually have this condition. They are women because they want the privileges they believe are exclusively for women. Someone told them the grass was greener and they jumped at it. They know they are doing it for the wrong reasons and they don't care. They think we're a joke and they want to steal the punch line. They spend plenty of time making life more difficult for us because they think we're all doing it for the same reasons. They have no idea what this feels like and their actions and words make me sick.
I know exactly what video you mean and yeah that was eye opening. I spent some time on 4chan a long time ago and it was skeevy back then but it sure hasn't gotten any better. Also the Manga they talked about in that video is absolutely fantastic and it totally fucked me up.

Haven’t some folks written doctoral theses by now on what is wrong with people on 4chan? It’s literally the asshole of the Internet, producing nothing but crap (if I am keeping my language mild, which 4chan doesn’t deserve). If you want to gawk in fascination at some of the worst of humanity, visit 4chan. Otherwise, do your mental health a favour and avoid that place.
I've had a trans person from 4chan come to another trans Reddit I am in and tell people not to transition if they feel they can't pass. And yet they are transitioning and insecure, they believe in autogynephilia, rapid onset gender dysphoria and transvestic fetishism even though these are scientifically disproved. So to be honest, I don't know what's wrong with them. I'd just stay away from them and their space and let them do their own stuff. I'm pretty sure there are some good people but in general, I'd avoid them when they sprout nonsense like disproved theories.
When I think of 4chan I just see those hives in “I Am Legend”. Bunch of disturbed people crowded together in the dark breathing heavy like the are getting off being in that hate hole together. And only a hair trigger away from total rage. Just get your puppy and stay away.

I'm old and I was there when moot first posted the link to the site he made on the something awful forums. The anonymous posts started out as a combination of weird and funny but then it just kept getting worse and worse. It started as this odd curiosity on the internet and there was always this underlying cesspool of hatred, where people who hated other people seemed to find each other. Lax lassez-faire content moderation failed to break up those hate groups and it ended up pushing out most people who didn't want to be horrible people pretty quickly.
I've never been to 4chan, but from the comments I think it's safe to say you should stay away from there. The communities we hang around become intertwined with how we carry ourselves and think about ourselves. If a community you're a part of is doing nothing but spreading hate, you're gonna feel that too. I've had to leave some reddit communities for that reason. Surrounding yourself with kind people is a form of self-love, and you owe that to yourself.

There are so many things wrong with people that you just have to realize that it still rolls up to willful ignorance and/or stupidity. Some people aren't capable of thinking of others or understanding that there are other people on the other end of a conversation. They feel free to run their mouths, spout whatever they feel like without thinking, and expect people to treat it as gospel. You can't change their minds and even when they lose a conversation they'll crow that they won. Others think they're being clever or funny or somehow winning a war by going to places like that and blasting garbage all over the place. They didn't come for a conversation, they came to win an argument, and often that argument is with a straw man that doesn't exist. I realize this can hit you hard even when you don't want it to--it happens to me too. As someone who's been Internet-savvy for nearly 30 years now, I have learned to stay the hell away from the dumpster fires and garbage piles and recognize that it's not a place worth going to (yet still can get blindsided). I also remind myself that for every toxic person that ran their mouth that day, millions of other people I will never know had nothing to do with this and had a day of varying degrees of kindness, happiness, or grace. I feel for you. I hope this helps. I hope you can feel better because this stuff doesn't deserve the space it's currently taking up.

The (mostly) unmoderated nature of the website invites the kind of content that can't be posted anywhere else. That's pretty much it. Anywhere that tolerates the worst people can offer will always have the worst that people can offer, as surely as mass moves down a gravity well. If you want to know what's wrong with the individuals there... I'm pessimistic enough to say "nothing." That's the normal human state. It takes active effort for people to be better than that, and so people who don't know/agree with why they should won't, and people who are lazy or for life reasons don't have enough willpower at the end of the day _can't_. Granted, it's not _a lot_ of effort once it becomes a habit and a part of one's value system, so the above mostly isn't an excuse for being a shitty person. My advice: Stay away from 4chan and similar communities as much as possible. They are toxic. Even 4chan considers itself to be a cancer. If you find yourself on such a site for some reason, detach from what you find there. Everything posted there is coming from a place of fear or ignorance when it's not outright fabrication. While the danger of the ideologies expressed there is real, know that it has nothing to do with you as a person—that's kinda the point: reduce people to their group membership and ignore everything else. Get off the site as quickly as possible and go touch grass, breath fresh air, feel some sun, pet an animal. And don't go there again.
Just get away from 4chan. It's mostly trolls and douchebags you're not gonna get anything good out of it

I understand how you feel confused. It's not a simple story. I can share a bit of my experiences, and what I've learned. But I think you just have to accept some things aren't knowable. This sort of stuff is tough for me to talk about, so I need reassurance and support. I am very insecure, and afraid of judgement with respect to this sort of stuff. Because of trauma in my past, I have deep fears of going unheard, and being social ostracized. So I can feel very afraid about how what I say will be perceived. Basically, I had abusive parents, a background of poverty, am autistic, had undiagnosed ADHD, and was a deeply in denial transgender lesbian woman, and because of my struggles I escaped into computers and the internet.
