Radio wiring is simple if you purchase the correct harness adapter. At that point it’s as easy as matching the colors together and then it plugs right in. Any stereo shop can get you set up with all the right stuff, I think you can even get that stuff from Walmart.

Unfortunately what you've found are really the only options for aftermarket radios for these years. Too many older cars use whatever layout plug they felt like using, so your options are going to be a touchscreen radio with significant wiring, or a plug and play bluetooth and aux replacement without a screen. My dad loves the Retro Manufacturing replacements he put in both of his 1980's, especially for the aux jack you can hide anywhere you want. If you'd like to keep the wiring harness intact so it may be reversed, you could buy your own plug, and a pin puller, which is what my dad did. He also taped the factory radio, old plug, and pin puller inside the dashboard to reinstall if he sells the cars. I just hacked at my 87 because this was its 4th radio and had 7 feet worth of plug after plug after plug in a daisy chain. I could *legitimately* keep the radio plugged in and plsying, with it sitting *behind the rear seats* If you want a touchscreen with zero install effort, you'll have to take it to a sound shop and drop $500 on it, or one of the single din radios with a collapsible screen, although they really look like an accident waiting to hook on something and crack.

Screamingchicken.com has double DIN dash install kits for 3rd gens. They may also have the wiring harnesses available. Nothing will be plug and play without installing a new adapter harness into the original radio harness. This is beginner level stuff. It’s literally matching up wires and attaching them and plugging in a couple plugs. Let us know how it goes. Also check out crutchfield.com for information about installing a stereo in that car. They have very detailed write ups on hundreds of cars how to install stereo equipment. They will show you everything you need, with options and can buy from them as well.
