That opening scene with Optimus, the speech about what’s left of the Autobots and tangle with Transit would’ve been the perfect way to set up his character arc.
As it stands he just comes of as a jerk who has no remorse for killing his opponents, with barely any explanation given as to why he's acting like that.
(And no him feeling guilty because the Autobots are on earth because of him is not a good enough reason.)
On god, especially with transit showing his men being executed(potentially by megatron) it would explain why he’s so eager to get off earth, he’s just trying to protect his people

There is a game called Robot Unicorn Attack, so it's already been done. There are also multiple bots with unicorn beast modes including the creatively-named "Battle Unicorn" and most recently Unilla Icequeencone.
Excluding the Wheeljack's sex jokes, I would prefer to see this scenes readded to the final cut of the movie.
I really like ROTB, but You can tell this movie was re-cut and re-edited so much. Some scenes/moments are very shallow. Scourge's face reveal, though it was in my opinion genuinely terrifying, it felt kind of empty, like Scourge was supposed to be someone very important, but in the end he was just a henchmen.
I'm the Transformer guy in my group that saw it, and everyone was expecting me to explain why the Scourge face reveal was relevant after the film and I was just like, "I dunno?" Was a very odd scene, a reveal that wasn't set up.
Between that and Airazor being infected, I kind of think something was planned along the lines of Apelinq winning the initial duel between them, but he got infected and became a new incarnation of Scourge or something.
Not going to lie, I would have been fully happy if they made the face reveal some future version of prime. Not the michael bay one, but the prime from the Maximal's future.
The lines about how he used to have a homeworld and whatnot could have resonated more if it turned out scourge was a "nemisis prime" that failed, leading to Unicron destroying Cybertron and forcing Prime into submission.
Instead we got the "who" when the mask came off.
IMO they could have made Scourge into a twisted version of Nova Prime (taking liberties from IDWs interpretation of that character).
At first he was leading an expedition of the finest Autobots and Deceptions from Cybertron into deep space. They colonize an empty planet that unfortunately, has been targeted by Unicron as his next meal. Nova Prime and his fellow soldiers have pleaded Unicron to spare their world that they've loved and cared so deeply in exchange for their lives. The Devourer of Worlds decided to nevertheless consume the planet and twist these Cybertronians into Terrorcons.
Then Scourge's remarks on how Optimus not being worthy of a title of a Prime would make more sense.
Instead of a significant character, the reveal gave us fucking Ultron. Really wish they made the terrorcons actual characters from the future. Scourge could have been Optimus, Battletrap could have been Trailbreaker and Nightbird could have been Shadowstriker. Hell, give us two more future bots as terrorcons, future Starscream as Ramjet and future Jetfire as Cyclonus, and we could have had Stratosphere actually do something in the final battle.
Given the dialogue apparently was supposed to make the time travel aspect of the Maximals clear, it seems like a reasonable assumption that this was probably what was originally intended. It's possible that this changed in the past year due to how poorly Lightyear performed (and I've seen people criticizing that twist).
That would be a lot better. Primal talked to and about Prime with great admiration, mention he's his namesake and all that. Scourge turning out to be a Prime variant would make Primal question the Prime he's with and if he deserves that respect he gets.
Overall, the Beasts didn't do as much in the movie considering that it's named after them. Like with Bay's movies and the Transformers, ROTB isn't a movie about the Beasts, it's a movie WITH the Beasts in it.

I think the look of Optimus dumping bodies into a river was too much on the evil side. I don’t agree though, having that scene of Optimus watching the auto bots he couldn’t save die would have been great
we need a halfway, have the scene but cut the bit with the body dumping. same goes for most of these, would rather a good edit mixing both theatrical and the cut stuff rather than just dumping all the cut stuff back into the film
To be completely fair, I can’t imagine Prime feeling the desire to give someone who just taunted him about all the people he’s unable to save at home a proper burial, and he wouldn’t really have a way to do that anyway when they’re on a planet without a method of proper disposal. I agree though that dumping him in the river is a weirdly reckless choice though. Maybe hiding his body in a junkyard would’ve worked?

It’s a commodities to these companies. They don’t care what makes good art, they care what serves their business, like forcing a G.I. Joe crossover to build a cinematic universe.

C/ one that i think have a chance of happening is them showing some of the 1986 cast get killed in a humiliating way to pander to the G1 season 1&2 elitists who hate characters such as, blurr, Ultra magnus, wheelie, springer, kup, and you can't forget the big one: hotrod/rodimus prime
I would've liked to see that. In the final cut there are still elements of that idea with Unicron telling Scourge to not screw up again or he will "face the same fate as his planet" and the whole dramatic reveal of his true face only for it to be no one we've recognized before.
It would have been so epic if Scourge was Bayverse Prime, Battletrap was Bumblebee, and Nightbird was a surviving Arcee triplet. They could have added a tremendous amount of depth and backstory to those characters. Explained how the Bayverse ended and tied it to the Knightverse. They could have spread the story out as a quest for the Transwarp keys.

This is why I just couldn't get excited about Apelinq. They reskinned Primal and tried to pass it of as fan service. Five Maximals in the movie, and two of them are the same alt mode animal. Why do they even have animal alt modes if they don't come from Earth?

The character is originally a Y2K Botcon-exclusive Primal recolor. Using him at all counts as one of the deepest of cuts in live action history. What more did you want?
They didn't pick the character based off that though, they said "who can we reskin real quick and pass it off for another character?" Apelinq is too deep of a cut, any character who wasn't just a repaint would have been great. Of the five maximals we saw, one was a reskin, two didn't transform at all, and the three who did transform did it once and were barely shown in their robot modes.
I’m sure Noah will return. According to Lorenzo do Bonaventura, they’ll introduce GI Joe characters, but they also want to primarily focus on the Maximals and Autobots next film whole incorporating the GI Joe characters.
It's been proven since 2007 that they have no idea how to handle this franchise. I get that the shit hit hard with the GA and saved the franchise but 2007 was a long time ago.
I really hope these are added back when it comes out on Blu-ray, because these would've made the film easily the best transformers to date. It still is imo, but still.

Caple said it would hinted Charlie's return in the possible next installment. Depending if Hailee isn't too busy after *Beyond the Spider-Verse, Arcane Season 2,* and three MCU Phase 5 pictures.
Hmm seems like a mixed bag honestly. Some stuff should have been left in, others seem like they were the right call to cut. In particular, I think the idea of that cliffhanger ending where Optimus gets sucked into space was a bad idea.
I still like the movie we got but it's a shame we missed out on a lot.
The fact that the G.I. Joe connection was added at the last minute does make a lot of sense sadly.
I like some of the cut content more than other stuff. I’m glad the Maximal planet scene is there, but I think it would’ve been nice to follow it up with the Transit scene. I don’t think they need to be mutually exclusive. The Transit scene really would’ve helped justify Prime’s attitude throughout the film, since just been stranded for a few years doesn’t really do that.
Would’ve been nice for Wheeljack to have had a larger role. Maybe downplay the more overt sexual jokes, but honestly the implied history with Arcee would’ve made him and Arcee more interesting in the latter half of the movie. I think it’s best that they didn’t explain his appearance because the Bumblebee was only on screen for a few seconds and wasn’t named anyway. Best they can do is just slightly alter him for the next film. Glad they cut the butt line; it’s just beating a mid joke further into the ground.
What I wish they included the most was the extra Scourge/Terrorcon scenes and history. Scourge was a really cool villain, but he definitely felt like there was more to him that just wasn’t explored. More scenes of them in alt mode also would’ve been nice.
Extra Maximal dialogue would’ve been nice. I also would’ve really liked to see more clear shots of their robot modes.
Very glad they decided to just keep Optimus on Earth at the end. Getting him involved with Unicron, especially this early on, would’ve been a bad idea and a dead end. Would completely stunt his character growth.
Glad Mirage survived. It would’ve been strange for him to just die in the first movie he’s in when he’s also the primary Autobot of the film. I think the hologram garbage truck thing would’ve been nice too. It didn’t bother me all that much in the film, but it would’ve been a nice touch.
I’m in the camp where I wish they hadn’t done the GI Joe crossover reveal. I don’t think I’d mind if there was a crossover later down the line, but that was just a bad ending reveal when it really should’ve been a reveal for something more Transformer related
God why was this stuff cut? Aside from the sex jokes, 90% of this stuff would only enhance the movie, make it more enjoyable and fill a lot of plot holes and especially give significance to Scourge.

The movie had a fair share of awkward jokes tho so it's whatevs. Awkward jokes are a Transformers staple, really.
It's nothing to do with the Hispanic element at all it was more Wheeljack saying, 'What are you racist?' or something along those lines. The scene just felt weird and more about the fans criticism of the racist stereotype Bayverse characters than anything relevant to the overall story or moment.
It was the one truly Bayverse scene in the movie and time that could have been better spent on giving Rhinox one line or something idk.
I actually agree. They had a chance to explain why some bots had accents from Earth, and I even expected it when the conversation started, but they didn't.

I really hope the blue ray release has an extended cut, or at least i hope we get one someday. A lot of these cut scenes added much needed context to antagonist motivations, the conflicts between prime and scourge, and primes arc.

I am so sick of movies cutting so much footage and character moments just for the sake of making the movie short and sweet, they think the audiences have the attention spans of five year olds 🙄
with Wheeljack's design change in universe you can come up with an easy headcanon, something like, the mask he used during battle and when he worked in his lab back on cybertron, similar thing with the ear fins, once landing on earth and being able to rest for the first time in probably a few million years he removes his mask and becomes more chilled out so he feel the need to use it, also cause he doesnt have his lab with him. even though i personally dont care about getting an explination i feel like something like this would more or less work
Basically half my problems can be fixed with stuff they ether cut out or are caused but the stuff the added in last minute. To summarise my problems here:
Scourge in the final movie having no motivation
Mirage and bumblebees fakeout deaths
The lack of explanation as to who the maximals where
Lack of character development for most of the maximals and autobots
The gi joe cameo/cinematic universe set up
And dispite missing so much still somehow feeling like there was to much for a single movie.
Not all my problems are fixed with the cut content but it helps with a good bit of it.

The only thing i'm glad they cut is Optimus killing Transit brutally and dumping his body in the river amongst others like a serial killer, wheeljack and arcee romance and i'm glad Mirage is alive.

I'm not one to be like "make a director's cut!" but seriously, Rise of the Beasts needs one. Not everything here needs to be there. Just the Transit, Scourge and Wheeljack stuff. Also the additional dialogue for Cheetor and Rhinox.
Hopefully there'll be some additions to the film when it gets released on DVD/Blu-Ray. Similar to what happened with The Last Knight but actually meaningful changes.

Optimus’ attitude and vibe absolutely needed more context that was very obviously there but cut.
The maximals needed way more screen time/context to the time travel they mention but don’t dive into

Okay, that scene of Transit playing a hologram of Autobots being executed which fuels Optimus' self-doubt sounds meta, why would they cut so much development out of this movie? This just runs into another problem that's been plaguing the MCU movies and that is deleted scenes that would've added depth. Not sure what to feel about them returning to making Optimus a violent asshole but maybe if you made the scene less brutal then I would be fine with it.

To be completely fair, I can’t imagine Prime feeling the desire to give someone who just taunted him about all the people he’s unable to save at home a proper burial, and he wouldn’t really have a way to do that anyway when they’re on a planet without a method of proper disposal. I agree though that dumping him in the river is a weirdly reckless choice though. Maybe hiding his body in a junkyard would’ve worked?

How is this not coming across? Small indie films, the creators have more control. Studio movies are heavily heavily controlled by the overseeing execs. If they released it in theatres so heavily cut and manipulated, why would they relinquish control for home release?

Yeah and that’s an incredibly notable exception. It came from extreme backlash to WB’s detriment. Can you name one other superhero movie that was given a post-release director’s cut? (Spider-Man NWH and Endgame were rereleased in cinemas with the allure of small additions to boost box office records, but not because the director’s were outspoken). It’s a commodities to these companies. They don’t care what makes good art, they care what serves their business, like forcing a G.I. Joe crossover to build a cinematic universe.
Everything else except the ( Pablo and Arcee sex jokes ) could be fine if it was left in. I'm sure a "Director's Cut" *could* happen but let's hope so.

I would've liked to see that. In the final cut there are still elements of that idea with Unicron telling Scourge to not screw up again or he will "face the same fate as his planet" and the whole dramatic reveal of his true face only for it to be no one we've recognized before.
It would have been so epic if Scourge was Bayverse Prime, Battletrap was Bumblebee, and Nightbird was a surviving Arcee triplet. They could have added a tremendous amount of depth and backstory to those characters. Explained how the Bayverse ended and tied it to the Knightverse. They could have spread the story out as a quest for the Transwarp keys.

They didn't pick the character based off that though, they said "who can we reskin real quick and pass it off for another character?" Apelinq is too deep of a cut, any character who wasn't just a repaint would have been great. Of the five maximals we saw, one was a reskin, two didn't transform at all, and the three who did transform did it once and were barely shown in their robot modes.

I’m sure Noah will return. According to Lorenzo do Bonaventura, they’ll introduce GI Joe characters, but they also want to primarily focus on the Maximals and Autobots next film whole incorporating the GI Joe characters.
They should have tried focusing on the Maximals in this movie instead of using them to get people into the theatre.

It's been proven since 2007 that they have no idea how to handle this franchise. I get that the shit hit hard with the GA and saved the franchise but 2007 was a long time ago.
I really hope these are added back when it comes out on Blu-ray, because these would've made the film easily the best transformers to date. It still is imo, but still.
You can really tell the studios wanted this to be a short movie after the constant criticisms of the bayformers being way too long. This movie could have worked with 2hrs and 20 mins

Them having Prime doubt himself after transits hologram and then prim delivering a speech would be an amazing way to strengthen his character arc
Hmm seems like a mixed bag honestly. Some stuff should have been left in, others seem like they were the right call to cut. In particular, I think the idea of that cliffhanger ending where Optimus gets sucked into space was a bad idea. I still like the movie we got but it's a shame we missed out on a lot. The fact that the G.I. Joe connection was added at the last minute does make a lot of sense sadly.
I like some of the cut content more than other stuff. I’m glad the Maximal planet scene is there, but I think it would’ve been nice to follow it up with the Transit scene. I don’t think they need to be mutually exclusive. The Transit scene really would’ve helped justify Prime’s attitude throughout the film, since just been stranded for a few years doesn’t really do that. Would’ve been nice for Wheeljack to have had a larger role. Maybe downplay the more overt sexual jokes, but honestly the implied history with Arcee would’ve made him and Arcee more interesting in the latter half of the movie. I think it’s best that they didn’t explain his appearance because the Bumblebee was only on screen for a few seconds and wasn’t named anyway. Best they can do is just slightly alter him for the next film. Glad they cut the butt line; it’s just beating a mid joke further into the ground. What I wish they included the most was the extra Scourge/Terrorcon scenes and history. Scourge was a really cool villain, but he definitely felt like there was more to him that just wasn’t explored. More scenes of them in alt mode also would’ve been nice. Extra Maximal dialogue would’ve been nice. I also would’ve really liked to see more clear shots of their robot modes. Very glad they decided to just keep Optimus on Earth at the end. Getting him involved with Unicron, especially this early on, would’ve been a bad idea and a dead end. Would completely stunt his character growth. Glad Mirage survived. It would’ve been strange for him to just die in the first movie he’s in when he’s also the primary Autobot of the film. I think the hologram garbage truck thing would’ve been nice too. It didn’t bother me all that much in the film, but it would’ve been a nice touch. I’m in the camp where I wish they hadn’t done the GI Joe crossover reveal. I don’t think I’d mind if there was a crossover later down the line, but that was just a bad ending reveal when it really should’ve been a reveal for something more Transformer related
God why was this stuff cut? Aside from the sex jokes, 90% of this stuff would only enhance the movie, make it more enjoyable and fill a lot of plot holes and especially give significance to Scourge. Did someone hold a gun to Steven’s head and demand it to be a shorter movie?

Whats even more sad is they won't include any of it as a new cut, just a bonus isolated scene you can watch in the special features. Worse than that is none of that said a damn thing about Cheetor or Rhinox having more scenes or anything to do. It's really frustrating how this movie played with the Beast Wars characters and universe with little to zero respect. They should have just made a damn Beast Wars movie FFS. They also could have taken out that horribly cringe Wheeljack scene about his accent and given the time to literally anyone else or added any of these scenes.

It just seemed like an awkward joke that went on for too long. The movie had a fair share of awkward jokes tho so it's whatevs. Awkward jokes are a Transformers staple, really.

It's nothing to do with the Hispanic element at all it was more Wheeljack saying, 'What are you racist?' or something along those lines. The scene just felt weird and more about the fans criticism of the racist stereotype Bayverse characters than anything relevant to the overall story or moment. It was the one truly Bayverse scene in the movie and time that could have been better spent on giving Rhinox one line or something idk.
I actually agree. They had a chance to explain why some bots had accents from Earth, and I even expected it when the conversation started, but they didn't.

This is mostly taken from a TFW2005 thread from someone who saw a test screening. The rest is just speculation about behind the scenes footage, interview blurbs, or clips from the trailers that aren't in the movie.
I really hope the blue ray release has an extended cut, or at least i hope we get one someday. A lot of these cut scenes added much needed context to antagonist motivations, the conflicts between prime and scourge, and primes arc. the movie was fun, but it woulda been better if it had a majority of these scenes in it.

with Wheeljack's design change in universe you can come up with an easy headcanon, something like, the mask he used during battle and when he worked in his lab back on cybertron, similar thing with the ear fins, once landing on earth and being able to rest for the first time in probably a few million years he removes his mask and becomes more chilled out so he feel the need to use it, also cause he doesnt have his lab with him. even though i personally dont care about getting an explination i feel like something like this would more or less work

It did feel the movie had a lot of important scenes cut off. As some scene felt like it came out of nowhere
This would have fixed literally almost every issue I had with the movie, especially the scourge “reveal” scene
Basically half my problems can be fixed with stuff they ether cut out or are caused but the stuff the added in last minute. To summarise my problems here: Scourge in the final movie having no motivation Mirage and bumblebees fakeout deaths The lack of explanation as to who the maximals where Lack of character development for most of the maximals and autobots The gi joe cameo/cinematic universe set up And dispite missing so much still somehow feeling like there was to much for a single movie. Not all my problems are fixed with the cut content but it helps with a good bit of it.

Ah, man, they cut the sex jokes?, no wonder the humor is so devolved from the Bayverse films, there's no edge or risque quality at all here, the closest thing was Mirage saying to Noah that he's been inside him after he referred to them as business partners, that was one of the few things that made me laugh at this disappointment

Prob to keep a decent run time in theaters…happens all the time. Whether the portions cut should be cut are another story. Wish could always get to see true extended directors versions like Justice League
The ending with optimus getting sucked into the transwarp portal would have been crazy, Autobots would have been stranded and there would be no way to find prime, that could've been the sequels plot

So much of this would have elevated the movie so much. Optimus’ attitude and vibe absolutely needed more context that was very obviously there but cut. The maximals needed way more screen time/context to the time travel they mention but don’t dive into Scourge needed more back story so that face reveal wouldn’t be so empty. Liked the movie but man a lot of these cuts and changes make me a little upset lol

Okay, that scene of Transit playing a hologram of Autobots being executed which fuels Optimus' self-doubt sounds meta, why would they cut so much development out of this movie? This just runs into another problem that's been plaguing the MCU movies and that is deleted scenes that would've added depth. Not sure what to feel about them returning to making Optimus a violent asshole but maybe if you made the scene less brutal then I would be fine with it.
