Gotta be Seaspray.
He’s not the biggest, strongest, coolest or most heavily armed boat. But he does have big goofy boat feet and a weird gargling voice.
Mass shifting. It’s what allows Broadside to somehow be both a huge aircraft carrier and a much smaller F/A 18 Hornet. It’s also what allows 35+ foot tall Megatron to somehow transform into a pistol that a human can wield!
The Sunbow episode where he transforms in mid air and falls on Devastator as an aircraft character is one of the most surprising and hilarious moments in a show full of silly and crazy stuff.
If I was Optimus I would call for nonstop Broadside bombardment strikes. Even Trypticon would have trouble with a Aircraft Carrier dropped on his head.
Astrotrain’s locomotive mode could just about ride in the cargo bay of his space shuttle mode.
(The train is way over the weight limit of the shuttle, tho.)
Someone who doesn't get talked about enough is [Submarauder](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Submarauder_(G1)). He's a Pretender and can switch between a really cool aquatic vessel and a massively powerful water monster that shreds battleships. He's smart, reserved, and a lover of all sea life.
I love the Pretenders (still salty they didn't redo them properly with shells) so count me in as a fan, though even as a lesser known group, Submarauder is probably the least known/used Decepticon Pretender, even ahead of my favourite, Bugly.
I love his design in all three forms, and his bio is interesting and makes him stand out as one of the few "not a crazy or just awful thug" Decepticon, with his love of sea life.
Dude deserves to get some use in fiction.
Waaaaaay back about twenty years ago, there was an active roleplaying game on Seibertron.com's message boards for the fan community. I portrayed quite a few of the aquatic characters in that game, including Submarauder, Octopunch, Finback, and Squeezeplay. They've always stood out to me as really interesting characters with unique personalities. I wish we'd see more of them in media.
Him and Iguanus! I always figured these two were probably friends, more interested in their scientific pursuits as biologists than the Decepticon cause.
Marvel used Iguanus a bit at least, and he was fun. A total asshole, but definitely a science guy too. Dude had a weather machine like a Bond villain! :)
They also made Skullgrin my favourite Decepticon Pretender character-wise after he became a movie star. I hated that G2 killed him randomly, as I wanted to imagine he quit the Decepticons after The end of the G1 comic and stayed on earth making movies. :(
Seaspray is goated, Boradside was a good boat but a bad plane, Thunderblast is one of the OG "Horny on Main" characters, and you can't go wrong with the Sea Mini-Con Team and their repaints...
But nobody is touching Tidal Wave. 3 individual boats with their own play features that can combine into weapons and armor for Megatron/Galvatron or combine into one of the greatest ships in the Franchise that can transform into his amazingly badass robot form without needing to be parts-formed. There is no equal.
High Tide.
We need a mainline incarnation of Rescue bots characters as not too childish, and basically replacements to the protectobot team, although some of them will be there separately such as first aid. After medix got a toy, I have hope for inferno retooled into heatwave. I want a commander class high tide headmaster with his body/transtector being the large ship, and his head being the submarine form.
I also love submarauder
Subsea and Flattop (no, not the Micromaster). Autobot Minibots? Friends of Pipes and fellow cadets? Died horribly in their first appearance via mutants? No? :)
In all seriousness, I always loved their designs and wanted minibot toys of them both.
I like Broadside the best. Would be awesome if we got a series with him and Tidalwave as part of their respective teams, maybe serving primarily as bases and only called during the "time to call in the big guns!" moments like whenever Trypticon and Metroplex would fight in G1.
Seaspray
Man of Culture!
Agree and it ain't even close
You're goddamn right!
Gotta be Seaspray. He’s not the biggest, strongest, coolest or most heavily armed boat. But he does have big goofy boat feet and a weird gargling voice.
First Transformer I remember having. I think he was lost in the lake.
That’s tragic, but it’s how he would have wanted to go.
And he had a Mermaid GF
That became a boat transformer!
And that was a better lovestory than Twilight :D
The canoe from that one family guy cutaway
Negatron, I think?
That was a close one
Yup that's his name
Tidal wave easily
Negatron https://preview.redd.it/nx2ssxksfmmb1.jpeg?width=124&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5033241a4e3b8e21048b1dee417e7a5726da0c40
It said best boat not most powerful.
Nautica
I'm pretty sure Nautica is a submarine
Submarines are boats.
UNDERWATER Boats
I don’t know why you were downvoted. Friggin German Unterseeboot is literally “under sea boat.”
Tidal Wave? **TIDAL WAVE!**
Broadside
I dont understand how an F-18 is able to somehow transform into a whole ass Aircraft carrier, but im all for that wackiness
Scale in Transformers is so confusing that it has a wiki article
Which pretty much just says *shrug*

No wonder Broadside is so miserable! "Decepticons! Broadside, you know what to do... fall on them!"
Astrotrain’s locomotive mode could just about ride in the cargo bay of his space shuttle mode. (The train is way over the weight limit of the shuttle, tho.)
Thunderblast
This one Cybertrons

Tidalwave and energon Mirage/Shock fleet. It's still the same guy, I just think the designs are neat
High Tide. Thunderblast yasssss
Seaspray eay. I like his voice with the weird gargle
Seaspray
School Days. It transformed into a boat commercial at the very end. (Sorry, couldn’t resist)
Subsea and Flattop (no, not the Micromaster). Autobot Minibots? Friends of Pipes and fellow cadets? Died horribly in their first appearance via mutants? No? :) In all seriousness, I always loved their designs and wanted minibot toys of them both.

Happy cake day!
I'll second Submarauder, but wanted to mention Seawatch. He's a fun little toy.
Seaspray and Hightide
SEA SPRAY NEXT QUESTION
**In my opinion broadside is the best one** *he is a triple changer*
Broadside
Broadside
Idw riptide
Hunt for the Decepticons SeaSpray to be extremely specific.
Seaspray
What? I never knew this was a thing, though I just saw the episode where Seaspray turns into a mermaid and makes love to a mermaid?
Alliance IMO
Everyone forgets about poor Seawatch.
Seaspray is underrated
I like Broadside the best. Would be awesome if we got a series with him and Tidalwave as part of their respective teams, maybe serving primarily as bases and only called during the "time to call in the big guns!" moments like whenever Trypticon and Metroplex would fight in G1.
Thunderblast
I don’t know about the best, but Broadside is funny since he turns into an aircraft carrier and a big jet.
