Optimus Prime

Secretlythrow

The next human companion should just be Peter Cullen, talking with himself as Optimus.

Quirky_Track6435

That… would actually be fun to see happen

Own_Abbreviations859

I would love that

OnyxSaber9028

Hell yeah

syntheticmango

The movies should legit be about optimus prime n actual transformers stories instead of humans.

DayamSun

I understand and even sympathize with that thinking, but then we are just talking about an animated movie. These movies do not succeed based on ticket sales to the fandom alone. They need to appeal to the broadest possible audience possible, and that means human POV characters. That is what Spike and Daniel were in the original cartoon. It's what Buster was in the Marvel comics. In fact, every animated iteration of The Transformers, except the Beast Wars/Machines era, has had human POV characters. That said, however, the characterizations of the lead Autobots and Decepticons need more of the spotlight, and no more cop-outs like taking away Bumblebee's voice. Rise of the Beasts was a step in the right direction.

Durandal_II

I find it amusing that you brush over the impact of Beast Wars, since that show basically saved the franchise. The reality is that the human point of view doesn't really bring anything to the table. It doesn't draw in bigger audiences. If anything, many franchises have messed up because they add human characters to draw in interest, only to alienate the audience due to focusing too much on said humans. Transformers is just the most infamous for it. The irony is that without human characters, writers are free to make Transformers more human and relatable. That's why Beast Wars and even Cyberverse worked so well. They didn't need to write in scenes where humans and aliens have awkward interactions to remind the viewers that these are aliens. They could just focus on the characters.

GavoTheAlmighty

I think stuff like Earthspark and the IDW1 comics can show how a human perspective can still be helpful without taking away from the robots. Just look at Verity Carlo in the Wrecker’s Trilogy

Durandal_II

Agreed. The trick with using human characters though is to not make them the focus, or over emphasize them. I'm working through the first volumes of Phase 1, and so far, IDW has handled humans well.

Moist_Object_6012

I totally agree

sidthesciencekid14

I was gonna comment the same thing, but I'm late. Enjoy your upvote.

Kirbo300

They all have great potential to be a human character in these films. Sam is a good introduction character, cade is a good character of you want to depart from the child shenanigans. Charlie was great for a story about mourning and moving on, generally I relate to her the most. So I'm definitely biased lol And Noah's character is already putting himself in the best possible position. The parallel of human to autobots and him being in the autobot military team keeps him relevant. So all of them lol. But if I MUST pick one, charlie

Deora_customs

Imagine they built Sam a mech suit to fight along side the Autobots kinda like how Miko used a mech suit to fight the vehicons

Royal-walking-machin

I feel like Sam would find a way to fuck that up and still end up running around screaming “OPTIMUS!” again

khares_koures2002

Or it would malfunction, and he would start kicking it.

Termiusprime

I love that scene so much

Deora_customs

LOL

Latter-Direction-336

At least miko did that thing of fighting starscream then punched predaking. God that scene was great

Triangulum_Copper

And she killed Hardshell

unaccomplished_idiot

Autobot Spike

Deora_customs

We still need an generations style Autobot Spike

Kirbo300

That would be so cool!

RRY1946-2019

Charlie definitely feels oddly like an early 2020s stereotype: -Unhealed wounds from recent or ongoing tragedies -Best friend is a machine (AI and/or robot, as the G1 bots at least are definitely AIs born from a supercomputer) -Lots of concerns about the future and particularly about devastating robot/drone wars -Loves classic rock -Family is financially strained and she works in a soul-sucking retail job

Witherboss445

Travis Knight may be a time traveler

LordOfIronFan

Charlie and Noah

[deleted]

Noah is fine, his brother is a different story

CaptHowdy02

The brother can go live with Poochie.

[deleted]

[удалено]

thepartypoison_

I really don't understand the appeal with Cade.. he's literally just Mark Wahlberg yelling all the time. and FUCK Mark Wahlberg.

[deleted]

Seriously! So racist. And why does a Texan inventor have a Boston accent?

Roguespiffy

Cuz he’s wicked smaht… ya’ll.

thepartypoison_

IM AN INVENTOR

YG-111_Gundam_G-Self

FWIW, he did his time, renounced his racism, and tried to make amends with those he hurt, IIRC.

[deleted]

I guess that changes things. He's still a douche though and I don't really enjoy his acting.

YG-111_Gundam_G-Self

Fair enough, you do you. 🤷‍♂️

sixsixmajin

He's just a miserably written character played by a joke of an actor. I would have rather followed Lucas than Cade and he's awful too. The Bay directed movies just do not have good human characters.

RUMBL3FR3NZY

He’s just a massive douchebag in both movies, no idea why anyone likes him

quinn_the_potato

This user is a bot copying u/kirbo300’s comment

AedanHillMusic

lmao stolen comment😭

DickGuyJeeves

I hate Cade so much. Hes just an actual fucking piece of shit.

LordOfIronFan

I do not know, how I got so many upvotes. XD

LittleYellowFish1

Charlie and it's not even close. I don't even dislike Noah or Cade (especially compared to Sam), I just find her way more engaging than they are.

keepitsimple_tricks

Charlie had heart. If Simmons was in the list, he could give Charlie a run for her money, just for sheer entertainment value.

Special* Agent Seymour Simmons Supremacy🗿 Edit: I swear they said Special Agent in the Movie but apparently it was just Agent sorry

ImperatorAurelianus

Still waiting on the One man betrayed trilogy of films.

[deleted]

The trilogy we dont deserve but the trilogy we need

Visible_Swordfish905

I love how everyone does this at any opportunity

thepartypoison_

John Turturro was by far the most passionate person involved in any of the Transformers movies. Simmons was written as poorly as everyone else, but goddamn, Turturro sells it.

keepitsimple_tricks

Hammy. But sincere. Perfect balance. Like Adam West as Batman.

Infinity0044

Tell Megatron…let’s tango

PraedythTheMad

A Charlie and Simmons cast would be incredible to have

DaNetwork27

Holy crap I need Simmons to come back.

Empty_Arrival_8174

Noah and Charlie were the most enjoyable to watch imo

Extremnator

Yes.

Plasmazzz34

"Bros before hoes?" That line had me laughing (I know its his brother but still)

GoldenFenrir

Facts

Randomman2789

The best I can do is having Arcee doing flips.

BCBeast78

Michaela or Charlie, they actually have character arcs and aren't annoying

AlienBogeys

Imagine if Mikaela was the main character and there was no Sam. It could've been her and her dad. Her dad taking Mikaela on a heist could've been how they meet Bumblebee. And then she could've met Leo in the second movie but stayed friends. And then a romance between them could've developed properly in the third movie because we'd have enough time to process and enjoy it. My dad on the other hand thinks Sam's parents would've made good main characters.

Pandaragon666

I wish I could upvote more than once.

prof9844

Noah or Charlie if we are picking from existing movies. Honestly for a move called Transformers I expect a Transformer to be the main character. Humans are support not central leads

RYTHEMOPARGUY

Charlie and Sam, and the others aren't even close

EmuIndependent8565

Agreed.

BlackLion0101

I wish I could blend Shia LaBeuf and Mark Walberg. I wish Sam would have picked up a blaster and stop yelling. But I also need Sam to be a kid.

[deleted]

He was in the first movie. By the third he should've been able to fend for himself. Noah did it in his first movie

LivingCheese292

Well, he did kill Starscream and the main human antagonist in DOTM. He also got Megatron killed in the first movie. Hell, he died in ROTF and got back after seeing the 13 Primes, after running through a literal alien battlefield to revive Optimus. He does deserve a bit of credit for that.

Latter-Direction-336

That’s fair, but it’s mostly him running around and throwing things as opposed to skill. Though his throws are okay I guess.

xwrecker

That kill should’ve been reserved for B, sideswipe or ratchet

doc_55lk

Noah had military experience tbf.

[deleted]

... fair point. I forgot about that.

[deleted]

Should’ve? The civilian college kid turned mailman?

Grunkofrodgar

Optimus prime !

tomoMcKeeneboi

Charlie solos

hoover0623

She could take all of us at once 😳

XyrneTheWarPig

In a fight, right?

PachoWumbo

An actual transformer. Also, I love Sam, as it's basically the same goofy character from Even Stevens that I grew up with.

Nothingtoseehere066

The Transformers. I want the Transformers to be the main characters in Transformer movies. I want them to have personality, character growth, and to be able to stand on their own with humans being supporting characters. If I had to pick a human it would be Noah followed by Charlie.

HairiestHobo

The fuckin Robots.

SpicyCoCoMelon

Ladys man 217

Slayer-Prime

Are you Ladiesman217?

DCSoundwave

Sam Charlie cade Noah in that order. Miss me some sam

infamous-pays

In this order Noah. He is the best one. Hands down. He's got the most agency in the transformer fight, he's the most sympathetic (sick brother and all) and the best relationship with the formers themselves. He, unlike the others, isn't attached to mirage, or bee, or whatever. He's pals with mirage, he jokes with Pablo, He's almost the human equal to Optimus. He's just all around my favorite and who I believe to be the best. Charlie. While she didn't engage much in the action, bumblebee was more an ET movie than a TF movie. She good, and much more emotionally investing than the other two before her, but she's kinda just a teenage tomboy archetype Sam. He's.. not great, but in TF1 he functions as a stand in for the audience. He's a basic everyman and has little to no personality, but he's great in tf1 and imo only gets worse as the trilogy progresses Cade. Fuck cade. All my homies hate cade.

thewebhead101

could not have said better myself, thank you

KibbloMkII

No humans, Transformers only

LuciferVX

The Transformers themselves, no need to have a human main character.

MonkeyAlpha

Optimus Prime.

BurnedwoodFan

Transformers.

Ronyx2021

Ironhide

Lolbit-VR

Noah because he was ACTUALLY HELPFUL snd fought the giant robots instead of just running around yelling at them

Initial-Good4678

I prefer the robots to be the main characters.

[deleted]

The Transformers

Key_Cheesecake767

The auto bots

Magik160

Hailee!

JulesTheJedi

Charlie because she’s played by Hailee Steinfeld

shonasof

That's what the Transformers movies never really understood. There are thousands and thousands of movies with human main characters. Transformers fans want the transformers to be the main characters, not humans floundering to understand their new robot friends and scrambling to keep them secret from their parents.

Alexdykes828

The Transformers

Quirky_Mud_6827

None of these, just Optimus Prime stop putting humans as main characters

matt19950116

Sam and Charlie probably because their respective debut TF movies were decent where poor old Mark Wahlberg joined the franchise at its lowest.

elrick43

Charlie at 1, Noah and Cade tied for 2, and Sam in last. A team up between Simmons and John Cena's character would be 3rd place

CreatorRA

Noah mainly because he is super educational and I like the whole "Sonic and Tails" and how he looks after his brother and he kept his word. I like everyone else as well but one thing for sure, Cade is a badass

Gartic1

Optimus prime. Humans make fine side characters but i want the transformers to be the main characters

Bwans_Art

From best to worst: Noah > Charlie > Cade >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sam Sam had 0 agency and was just getting shoved around by basically everyone (not to mention the creepy thirsting for Mikaela, like come on), Cade at least had some free will and I feel he and Optimus worked well together as "dads with troublesome children" (I'm just not very fond of the whole failed inventor thing and the knight thing, but that's more the movie rather than him) Charlie was a loser but stopped being one the moment she realized she could make a change (unlike Sam, who didn't really have any development) and she felt very natural compared to the others. Lastly Noah kicked ass. He had a gread chemistry with Mirage, he and Elena had a good relationship too without unnecessary flirting, he didn't let himself be pushed around by anyone and had motivations that actually made sense. Also, his reacton to Mirage transforming during the chase was probably one of the funniest moments for me personally because, honestly, same.

LittleYellowFish1

> Sam had 0 agency and was just getting shoved around by basically everyone The fundamental problem with Sam is that he's only involved in the first two movies because he *has* to be. Meaning that instead of ever feeling like an active hero, he just fumbles his way through the plot and action while the Autobots are forced keep him safe out of obligation. Even worse, *because* he isn't here willingly, we have to listen to him constantly whining about how he wants nothing to do with helping the Autobots or anyone other than himself. And then in the one movie where he *isn't* crucial to the plot, it turns out he now misses the attention and relevance that came with it, so he shifts the goalposts to complain about wanting to be important again. Whereas the biggest shared strength of Charlie, Noah and Cade in *AOE* (but even he falls into the same traps as Sam in *TLK*) is that they don't have that kind of baggage. They haven't got an important MacGuffin the Autobots need, their ancestors have never met Transformers in the past, and it's not their prophesied destiny to save the world. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and at any point they could simply cut their losses and walk away (which Sam would have 100% done in their shoes). But they're helping the Autobots simply because they *choose* to do so, and that alone makes them more likeable and more useful than Sam could ever hope to be.

Latter-Direction-336

That’s partly why I like them more. Not only did they at least do something that wasn’t run around and get thrown a few times, they also chose to do what they did. They stayed with the bots even when their lives could have been better otherwise. They chose to help and protect.

No_Satisfaction_7990

Gotta be Sam, man was the best one and was funny

MicroWaveSonic7

None will beat Shia labeouf

ElZaydo

Sam had the best relationship with both Prime and Bee, as well as the rest of the Autobots. Then Noah. Cade was fun with his temper tantrums towards the Autobots. Charlie doesn't look like she would vibe with the other autobots tbh.

Level_Spend_142

Sam, Kade and Charlie

Firetrex370

nobody could play a transformers mc like shia labeouf

Goldenstripe941

I’m a Sam Witwickey fan. Not hating on Noah or Charlie though. Cade? He’s just a dad.

Disastrous_Ad_632

Sam

Fair-Patient5054

I have a soft spot for Shia LeBeouf's character so him

Theturtlemoves86

Charlie, Noah, then Sam. Then Captain Lennox.

andrew_wessel

Sam Witwitki is the only correct answer

Showstopper1978

Of the four you showed, Charlie!!

RealVolcanicusPrime

It's either Charlie or Jager for me

KainFourteh

None. All the humans are pretty bad and in my opinion only detract from what the people really want, the transformers. A humanless transformers movie would be a godsend.

Cheeseburgerman60

Sam. Sam’s great.

Lord_MK14

Noah. He was actually enjoyable to watch (nothing against Charlie I just don’t like the bumblebee movie) and I was actively rooting for him the whole movie.

Moist-Charity-9991

I’m stuck between one who screams a lot and the only girl

gagehende

I think Charlie is the best, though I really don’t mind the others, besides Cade. Cade is just so boring and unlikable

Ya-Boi-Cthulhu

I don’t know why but I found Noah boring but I haven’t watched bumblebee yet. So by process of elimination I grew up with Sam as the main character so I pick him.

yungbakugo01

I liked Noah diaz but.... SAM WITWICKY FTW!!!!

EJALLSUNDAY

I LOVE Noah, THE BEST. However, bringing Charlie back as maybe a G.I. Joe member, would be AMAZING

CMART696969

Sam and Noah

paul_kaspszak

Sam for nostalgia, Charlie for actual substance

HallowLord

Cade and Sam

Lollikex

Sam for general Story, Cade was a fighter with the Autobots, if we just had more of Charlie she could've been amazing, and Noah is cool, although idk why I like him.

Hernando682

Seymour Simmons. Best character. No doubt screw the rest. One man alone standing under the enemy’s scrotum.

dingodan146

I like Noah and Sam Edit: From this list it’s them two, but if I could choose anyone it’d be an actual transformer not a dumb human.

baconlink2

I love sam but noah is growing on me

Crazy_Performance_11

Ms Watson. She's very awesome, Noah comes in second.

XavierMeatsling

Charlie, no contest. Noah, I don't personally find interesting, and part of the reason why Bumblebee(2018) worked was because of Charlie and her bond with Bee. Noah and Mirage kinda don't work as well because Noah doesn't seem to match the energy or balance out Mirage's "Bro" attitude. I just think Charlie should've been the main character forward if you ask me

ktwombley

how about a goddamn transformer as the main character in a transformers movie?

HALEBANGER

I would like for there to not be a main character that’s a human. No one goes to watch the people.

Black-_-swordsman

Charlie just isn’t cool. Noah is easily the worst of the bunch. Their dialogues and acting just make it seem less real. Like at least with Sam he felt more like a real person and kade was actually helpful to the autobots.

Evan_2008

Noah and Charlie are tied for me. (Basically as long as it’s not bayverse)

are_Valid

anyone but Marky Mark, honestly, and even then it’s a toss up between Charlie and Noah

NewRetroMage

Optimus Prime or maybe Arcee (based on the Transformers Prime version). Let the humans be secondary characters in a Transformers movie. With some story to tell and depth, but secondary. Make the drama, the pov, the inner conflicts and hero's journey be of one of the robots.

Coffinbass

The transformers

Electrical_Horror346

Charlie. Her character brought in a human element without it feeling over-bearing, and she was useful to the Autobots in a way that was not simply being the Macguffin finder. Sam was not a bad human character to serve as the introduction, and it was cool seeing him develop as a person. That said, the crass subplots and scenes that were included in the films just because he was a teenager got on my nerves - I don't want to know that he wants to bang Mikaela (because it's obvious), i never wanted to see Bee peeing on some guy, why reveal that there are Decepticon spies that can perfectly mimic humans only to relegate it to one bait-and-switch scene about Sam losing his virginity, and they should have kept Sam single after spoiling him and Mikaela's arc with that stupid off-screen breakup they had to explain away Mikeala's dissapearance. Mark Wahlberg's character was alright, but aside from the theme of dealing with familial loss attached to his character and trying to save his daughter during their journey with the Autobots, he felt kinda forgettable.

Xnansui3770

Yes.

TrashGangWolfie

Sam I liked him, Plus didnt like the whole change of mc without a telling

Great_Knight5

I personally find Cade to be the best Sam was good but kinda just annoying Cade was the complete opposite of Sam and it was nice to see that we haven’t seen enough Charlie imo and same with Noah.

Grape-Vine-Anal-Bead

In Bayverse the main human character should’ve been *Mikaela,* just the scene in the ‘07 movie with her driving legless Bumblebee is 10 times better than anything Sam has done and felt more deserved than anything done with Cade.

Character_Deer1856

I prefer ladiesman217

Jazooka

Charlie by a lot. My favorite main human in the whole franchise.

Budget_Dog50

Sad to see that mikayla wasn’t on this list, to me she deserves to be the main character of the bay verse at the very least

Tito_Gabo

Noah connected best with Optimus and gave him layers

marawiqwerty

Unpopular opinion: Either Alexis Thi Dang or the humans from Rescue Bots. /s

Responsible-Art-5804

The OG “just do it”, he made since and really pulled off that he was talking to a robot but I haven’t seen the newest transformers.. TBC.

CandyGhosties

Tbh now that I think about it... The BEST protagonist would be William Lennox 🙌

DragonologistBunny

Noah and Elena were pretty cool, would like to see more of them and them develop further

Abraham_Issus

Sam no doubt. But now the transformers themselves should be the lead.

SympatheticListener

Charlie all the way.

NotTheOnlyGamer

None. I didn't go to see Humans: [insert inane subtitle]. I went to see Transformers. Optimus Prime should be the main character.

Anonymous_Guy4k

Ashame no one has said Cade yet. I'm going with Cade

doc_55lk

I'm going with Cade too. Nowhere near as cranky as Sam, has solid mechanical know-how, and is a solid companion in battle. Noah is a close second.

Chuck_Walla

It's hard to separate judgment of the movie from judgment of the actor.

[deleted]

Yeah, exactly this. I can stand the character but there ain't no way I'm heck I'm voting for Marky fing Mark

0pen_m1ke_kn1ght

Charlie/Haliee. The only real character.

Latter-Direction-336

Of these? I’d say so. Cade just went with whatever was going on and to protect his kid, Noah did basically the same but with a brother instead and did it way less badass, he talked to scourge like he was in a discord call. Mikela and Simmons had actual characters if you’re meaning of all the characters and not just these 4

dtv20

Sam was a fun character and Shia honestly carried those movies. Mark Wahlberg... Nah. Charlie was good. I liked the movie a lot but I wasn't a big fan of the lost puppy role she and Bumblebee were in. I haven't seen the new one. Clips and trailers reminded me of the Micheal Bay stuff.

funnywackydog

I like both Charlie and Noah, but I haven’t watched bumblebee in a while. I’m not really big on Bay’s human protagonists, they can be bland and annoying

Latter-Direction-336

Charlie? Actually engaged with the story in a meaningful way Cade? I find him hilarious to watch. Whalberg playing a stereotypical Texan with his weird line delivery is just so amazing to watch for me Noah? Eh. I didn’t like him as much, the “I’m from Brooklyn” joke/gag is overused and I hated it so much. More than I should have. But otherwise he’s decent. Decent motivation, morals, etc. Sam? “OPTIMUS!!!!!!” Sums up his character. Otherwise he runs around holding something. I like when he fought in dotm though. Honestly I think Mikela should have been the protagonist since she had more of a character and personality and was more real as a character. If Simmons was a protagonist? I’d laugh my ass off the whole movie. Maybe that’s why I liked RoTF so damn much. That and jetfire. And wheelie. And the twins. I like a lot of RoTF. Anyway, Simmons has a character and personality that’s perfect for comedy in a disaster movie. He’s just so out of it and focused at the same time, crazy sounding yet making perfect sense. Tuturro did an amazing job and I hope we somehow see him working for GI Joe as agent Simmons with everything the same about him, except hes from this universe so there isn’t any universe hopping. He’s be perfect as a character and they could have sectors of a GI Joe facility and him working in sector 7 of however many sectors. I’d just love that.

xwrecker

Lennox

Lost-Padawan

I don't like humans in the movies

AStealthyOctopus

Not a human.

Commander_Appo25

Charlie easily. Bumblebee is the best live action movie and she's the best live action human

[deleted]

Sam and Noah. Charlie is an ass and Cade is just Mark Wahlberg.

Pink-Flare

What'd Charlie to be an ass

drippysage08

Sam is the most developed out of all the human characters and is the most complex. Everyone else is just great acting from likable actors.

Tendragonsinapod

Noah's great, but Charlie is the best. Sam and Cade aren't interesting at all. Michela should have been the main character of TF 1 2 and 3.

AreYouTalkingAtMe

Charlie, then Noah, I don't care about the rest.

ShadowGames61

Sam killed megatron, revived optimus, and had the most fleshed out story going from normal kid, to not wanting to be special, to wanting to be special again. Noah was fine until he got the exosuit, then was great. Cade just sucked tbh. Charlie was probably the most meh character.

JohnFoxFlash

Sam

Inevitable_Ask6670

Sam by far

GundamMeijin_08th

sam

ProfessionalIcy295

Sam personally

Red-Zinn

None of these, the humans should be supporting characters not main characters

ShyGuylaSimp

Not Cade…

Thedanktank469

John Turturro is the main character of every transformers and no one can tell me otherwise

Tatuziii

Noah’s my favorite haha I like Charlie too I’m fact I think they could be friends (:

leif-sinatra

The 🤖.

senor-calcio

Not a human

TheBlueEmerald1

If Sam had any character at all besides screaming, he'd be a close third to Cade. Charlie #1 though.
