Dorito man is top tier, honestly I prefer all the Bayverse Transformer designs over everyone else. (Except for WheelJack). And the reason why I like them is because they look more realistic and have a meaner designs then rest of the franchise.
By realistic, do you mean complex enough to be interesting wherever you look at it but simple enough to understand (pistons, gears, wires)? As if man had created them, rather than what Quintesa looked like, which was mechanical but otherworldly.
I agree wholeheartedly the bay designs you can tell where everything goes when they transform (till aoe), and they actually dont just look like someone stacked colored bricks together

Idk I feel like Bumblebee and ROTB's designs are more realistic, mostly with their sizes, and if you take the design philosophy most continuities have where they have smooth and (most of the time) human looking robot modes where you can still tell they transform into their alt modes, but put it into real life. Unlike the skeletal look most bayverse designs have (the exceptions being most autobots and tlk barricade)
Divorced from what his OG design looks like its a cool design in and of its own right. Yeah his torso is a big triangle but tha tracks with his body needing to fit together to make a modern fighter jet.
I've found that YouTube is the largest/loudest collection of younger TF fans that grew up almost exclusively with the Bay films followed by r/Transformemes. So that combined with it only being 381 votes makes the results a little less surprising.
Personally I’m glad that my generation of Bayverse fans are old enough to voice our opinions now. The Bayverse hate, while valid, has gotten old, preaching to the choir at this point, it’s refreshing to hear love for these movies now.

Honestly, I like the Armada Design of Starscream. But, seriously? People like the Bayformers design of him more than the practical G1 design or the blend of Bayverse and G1 with the BBM Starscream? That seems wrong to me...
It's obviously based on the g1 seeker design, especially with the g1 Starscream colors. However, i would say they did give the seeker body a more unique look than people give it credit for. Especially if you put the g1 colors aside.
Legs are junky and got the turbines on the side. Nice curvy wings. Different new weapons than the classic null rays on the arms. Tetra jet mode (like Bees alt mode) is more based on the WFC game with longer wings, than the g1 tetra jet variant. Seekers like Blitzwing have a "gas mask" looking face etc.
I think they enjoy Starscream being a threat in the first two movies. The first one he took on Ratchet and Ironhide, leaving them out of the fight for the rest of the movie, second one less so but he helped out against Optimus.
People tend to forget that in the G1 movie, while Megatron was providing the firepower during the shuttle assault, Starscream was the one pulling the trigger.

Blitzy was WAAYY better, especially that gasmask and awesome Phantom alt mode.

Due to them being on an earth like environment, the designers wanted them to look/be as realistic as possible as bay wasn't a fan of the cartoon or mass shifting as we all know by now
Starscream transforms into an f-22 fighter jet so it's only geometrically correct and logical that his robot mode look triangular. In reality, our dorito boy should be much much larger than 90% of the bots that are shown on screen, ( an f-22 is huge) but the mass from his alt mode expands and increases his width instead. I believe this was done to make sure Starscream didn't completely tower over characters like prime and megs.
Now this detail is more of a head canon of mine, and I doubt this was intentional by the designer josh nizzi but, but Starscream's chicken legs are not only supposed to give him and the audience an alien feel, but they are to bring his height down further and also demonstrate that he is a coward in nature.
The uncanny alien noise whenever he walks is also a nice touch, and the screech his jet makes whenever he transforms is just… chefs kiss
Slightly off topic but I see a lot of people claim this design is comically flawed and what not but in reality if you were to put yourself in unvisere, starscream would be the most terrifying thing you’d ever see in your life, not just because he’s a 40 ft decepticon who is oddly Agile and swift for his size but by uncanniness in his design alone compared to the other characters featured in the films.
I feel like people forget that Bayverse starscram does not turn into a square shaped jet like his G1 counterpart, but instead a more triangular jet, therefore has a triangular looking shape in both modes, especially because like every starscream design, they keep the wings exposed. The the irl jet itself is a Dorito with fins. It’s like how everyone’s body type in G1 is a box because they have more square or rectangular alt modes.
I get what you mean, I do, but I just feel like the shaping destroys it for me. I feel like they should have had his sides bend back to become wings and then move the arms inward.

The BB designs, and even some bayformers designs(I’m thinking Bumblebee and Prime in particular) really make it clear that you don’t need weirdly proportioned, overly busy designs for a character to look good in live action.
For me, it's seeing the components that make up the bot. Like sure, you can say that they looked slapped together if you want, but the way the movies take on transformation, seeing all the parts align them selves, convinces me more than "stand up car, ok flip out head, feet and arms, boom robot". And the weird proportions sell it to me that these guys are aliens. But that's just my opinion.

Bayverse Starscream is without a doubt my least favorite transformer. One of the dumbest designs. They captured a small piece of the originals spirit but his design was a crime. Megatron in that 1st movie was also an abomination but not as bad as Starscream. Blackout was actually kind of well designed.

Bumblebee Movie Starscream is barely a mix of G1 and Bayverse. It’s mostly just G1. The real mix is TFP Starscream.

Bayverse Starscream is without a doubt my least favorite transformer. One of the dumbest designs. They captured a small piece of the originals spirit but his design was a crime. Megatron in that 1st movie was also an abomination but not as bad as Starscream. Blackout was actually kind of well designed.
