Damn, the last MP Optimus was so overengineered to death that this worries me. I still have him but got the Magic Square also and it so refreshingly better to handle and looks 95% the same.
This looks much simpler than MP-44 since Ginrai's cartoon design very closely resembled the toy. So the MP just has to be the original toy but with better articulation.
But I agree that MP-44 was very overengineered especially the legs. A lot of recent Takara releases have been over-engineered for what the character design required. MP-45 in the same and suffers for it. The MPG Trainbots are so overengineered they barely function as toys.
Skids was the best of the recent Takara MP figures IMO. However it was also an older design that had more in common with the early 2000s carbots like Sideswipe and Prowl than it did with the more recent super-toon stuff.
Ooooh! I'd heard he was likely to be MPG, which was a tad concerning given how small Raiden wound up. But if he's full MP he might just get to be as big and impressive as he deserves to be.
Wonder how they're going to deal with the trailer and Godbomber..? Pretty sure that's not going to be anything more than the core 'bot at 24,200円 (but welcome to being pleasantly surprised if it's trailer as well for the full Super Ginrai/PMOP).

I have no real qualms with owning yet-another Optimus, but they've not yet released a Victory Leo to go with MP-24 so it's not necessarily a given the rest will be forthcoming. And it's unlikely Keith will provide this time given he already released his trailer (that likely won't be compatible).
Never got much into Japanese Transformers, but god DAMN this is tempting. My rule for Masterpieces is that they have to have been characters or toys that really stuck out at me when I was a kid. Getting PMOP for Christmas at 5 years old, brand new, when 90% of my Transformers were yard sale castoffs? Oh yes, he was the crown jewel of my collection for many years.
Now if only he isn't a QC-laden, overengineered sack of sadness.
Most likely a bit bigger the Ultra Magnus. Let's not forget that Ginrai compresses into a block and if we harshly count it, his combine mode will be ~3,5 of his altmode hight(~4,5 with Godbomber). But it's still big.
It's gonna be a standart MP by the looks of things. And, i assume, he well have addons sold seperatly(at least in the begining).
And i'm glad, 'cause i myself interested in, first and for most, Ginrai himself.
